  1. I think at the end of the day, I just want Spike to be considered an important part of the cast. You don't really even need to give him episodes about that. Just have him involved more with the Mane Six's adventures and give him a role using what he's good at. That and if there's a time where the writers want the audience to know how much Spike means to his friends, show. Don't tell.
  2. Princess Spike was an episode where I asked myself, "You know what, writers? If this is the type of effort you're going to put forth in Spike episodes, why give him episodes at all? Just give him more main support roles. He's at least good at that." As a lot of people pointed out, this was a scenario where Spike was set up to fail from the beginning.
  3. Maybe if Spike was around the CMCs a lot more often I wouldn't feel that he was left out so often. Yeah fans will argue that Spike is a mature kid character and the CMC's immaturity would drive him bonkers but at the same time, I think Spike needs that. He's had to work and take care of Twilight so much throughout his life that maybe he just needs time to unwind and act more of his supposed age. One of those "Enjoying being a kid" kind of storylines. I think Hey Arnold did an episode like that.
  4. I would make it so it doesn't seem like Fluttershy wasn't afraid of everything. I would cut back on Rainbow Dash's arrogance just a little bit so she can seem a bit more like a role model. I would write Twilight to the point where it feels like he loves, cherishes, and appreciates Spike as much as the other mane six. Maybe a little bit more since he's been with her since the beginning. She takes him for granted way too many times.
  5. Here's a random circumstance that involves Spike and the end of Season 3 that has always bothered me. I always felt like Magical Mystery Cure while good was a really rushed season finale and kinda contrived. Not to mention I felt that Just For Sidekicks was kind of a pointless episode in general. The reason I bring this up is because I felt that Magical Mystery Cure would have been stronger if it was a 2 parter and have Twilight struggle a bit to finding a solution to save her friends or accepting her new role as princess. I didn't feel like they did enough of having Twilight take in the moment of her getting wings to the point where her being a Princess was clearly a marketing move by Hasbro. On another note, have you noticed something strange about Just For Sidekicks and Games Ponies Play? You know how Spike wasn't invited with the rest of the manes to the Crystal Empire with the games inspector? Despite him being seen as the one who saved the Crystal Empire? There is absolutely positively no reason why not to bring Spike with them to the Crystal Empire. None. At all. Of course I know they make it up to Spike in the next season by treat him like a God pretty much, though I feel that was kind of excessive but whatever, but that one plot point has always bothered me to this day and that extra episode slot could have been used to pace the S3 finale so much better. On top of all that, do you ever wonder if Spike wonders if he's really helped Twilight at all get to where she is today? I mean she recognizes the other manes all the time but hardly ever Spike. To the point where I feel Spike could consider going to the Crystal Empire for a while and help out the Crystal Ponies for an episode. Maybe help him get a different perspective on things going on with him now and what lies ahead for him. Hay, you can have Cadance talk to Spike how he feels underappreciated and is being Twilight assistant going to be his life forever? Yeah this is kinda cliche with the "You have your whole life ahead of you and you have the potential to do something even more special than any of us princesses have done." Though Spike being the centerpiece of bringing ponies and dragons together does have potential for fanfiction. At the same time, Twilight and the other manes will have a talk about if they have been under appreciating Spike all this time. Maybe each could have a brief flashback of Spike doing something small that leds up something big. Then they would all venture to the Crystal Empire to apologize to Spike and they tell each other what they've learned from their experiences.
  6. -I think that Derpy while cute is incredibly overhyped by the fans. -Magical Mystery Cure was incredibly rushed and kinda contrived. -While I'm glad they have their cutie marks now, I feel that the CMC's cutie marks themselves are kind of a cop out in order for them to get them at the same time. (And was the big glow around them necessary? Why doesn't that happen to everypony else who gets their cutie mark?) -I don't dislike Starlight Glimmer but her motivations for what she did this season were really weak. All just because ONE friend got his cutie mark and went off to school she suddenly has to mess up other time shifts and nearly destroy Equestria. -While I'll admit he's not written that great, I still feel like Spike is the most underrated/underappreciated characters in the entire show. How he's written is probably why a lot of fans don't appreciate him and I can understand that. Though really, sometimes it's easy to overlook characters who do the little things that add up to a lot.
  7. I'd probably say Pinkie, Rarity, and AJ are my favorite of the manes. I like the CMCs equally...Aside from that...Spike, Zecora, and Luna are probably my favorite non main characters. Though in EQG, hands down Sunset Shimmer.
  8. I guess the closest character I'm obsessed with is probably Spike. Seeing that I see so much of me in his character, see so much character potential for him, seen some of the cutest fanart between him and Twilight, read some good fanfics where his character development potential is put into practice, I have a Spike plushie, and I've role played as him in the past. So...yeah. There's that.
  9. Is it? Let's face it. The relationship between Twilight and Spike and what it actually is never really explained. I mean, the whole #1 assistant title is getting kind of vague at this point. I think they made it so the fans can come to their own conclusions to how they care for each other. Me personally, they always came off as brother/sister if anything.
  10. Let's talk about a "what if" situation. Do you think the show would be any different up to this point if Spike was never in the show? Like if Twilight never had him as an assistant? Do you think the mane six's characters would be different for the better or worse with Spike not being written in the show? In other words, are there instances in the show where you think to yourself, "No. This only works if Spike does this or that based on who he is as a character and his meaning to the manes."
  11. I only talk about ponies on the internet. I don't say a word about it to anyone I know irl aside from my sister who showed me the show. Part of me feels really guilty that I'm into this show since it's not meant for me but something continues to draw me to it. Of course it doesn't help that the character I like the most and relate to the most is probably the most hated character in the fandom. I don't care. I still love ya Spike.
  12. I think I'm starting to move on from the notion of the writers don't much with Spike going forward. I'll just try to enjoy what we get out of him and Cathy's voice work. It is what it is.
  13. I'm not going to lie. I feel if the show ended after this season or after last season and had Crusaders of the Lost Mark during S4, fans would have been satisfied. I mean going into S6...what else is there left to do unless they plan on introducing new characters? Of course we'll see in the finale what possibilities open up going forward. It seems like they've done everything they can do with the Mane Six and Cutie Mark Crusaders at this point. They're not going to do anything with Spike so we can rule that out. Discord maybe? Guess we'll have to see!
  14. Yeah but it's because of things that aren't his fault.
  15. Bullies exist in every fandom for sure. I've seen plenty of bullies within the fandom. Just look at what people say about Spike or the CMCs.
