My little poisonous pony

Hopefully I'm posting in the right place, wasn't sure where to put this.

I saw this article on MSN news, and it caught my eye because of the picture of the old pony toys.

Apparently old school toys including MLP ones have been found to contain toxic stuff like lead.

I thought it was interesting so figured i'd post it...

If they are foreign, then yes. But other than that, not yet sure.

And i bet those mcdonald's EG girl dolls were as well.

I'm not too sure how old these toys are because the link is not working for me but there was a time in the last 90 years were kids could play with dangerous chemicals and even radioactive materials in science sets, and lead was considered harmless and company's would market lead products to kids.

There have been several recalls of toys due to lead paint being used. This was a serious problem back in the day, and lead paint was banned from toy manufacturing in the US in 1978, which predates even Gen 1 MLP toys.

However, just because it's illegal, doesn't mean it doesn't still happen. There's been several recalls for lead in toys, the last one I'm aware of was some wooden toys manufactured in Peru last year. I've done a search for recalled MLP toys, and came up blank, but I might not have phrased the search right. The biggest lead-paint recall I can find was for a variety of stuff from Mattel (not Hasbro) in 2007 that were manufactured in China.

This honestly concerns me...I've been collecting some G1 ponies (I'm a G1/G4), but now I'm worried that I may have picked up some poisonous ones if I'm not careful.... :(

I've got G1s Twilight, Ember, Cotton Candy, Scoops, Whizzer, Surprise, Baby Surprise, and Baby Firefly, and am planning to get more.

I dunno what to do either...I mean, I've tested toys for lead before (and one must have had one, it was a Thomas toy set), but I don't want to lose any of the ponies I've collected... :(

Anyone have any tips?

I would donate the recalls to goodwill(not)

But the problem is, I don't even know if any were recalled or not. One person said they tried to search it up and said they got blank results, but they may have worded them wrong.. According to this here: http://www.watoxics.org/files/Phthalates_Report.pdf, My Little Pony only got 0.4% of phthalates (is that what lead paint is or a type of it?) So I guess I'm fine....I've also found out apparently these recalls only happened in the 2000's...so I'm guessing the 80's toys may be safe...I hope...
