The hologram nodded, "Very good. 360 degrees, plus, 366 days, minus 100 years, equals 626. Not bad, but I've seen better. Next one. Take the number of pounds in one ton, divided by the number of centimeters in a meter, multiplied by the number of elements of harmony. Try that little missy!"

Tyra smirked proudly as the hologram confirmed her answer was correct, then it returned to a determined scowl as the next challenge was unveiled.

 

Divide? Multiply? She'd never heard these words before!

 

She did know how heavy a ton was; the blacksmith back home told her one day while she was visiting, for one reason or another.

 

"Um, two thousand...and there are six elements...ooh, I wish I was the village wizard right now, with all this numbers nonsense!"

The hologram cackled, "Haha! Looks like I was right! All you young ponies know is just playtime, and making yourseleves look pretty. While the elder ponies spent their time learning during their young lives! *coughs* Ahem, don't forget to divide the number of centimeters in a meter. And there's no wizard here little one! You're on your own!"

"SILENCE, FIGMENT!!" Tyra roared at the hologram, stomping on the floor hard enough for her hoof to indent, "We are no mere children!"

 

She sat back down and thought. "Um, two-thousand...what was it Juniper said...a hundred centimetres...? Um...multiplying..."

 

After a few minutes of rigorously tapping her hoof, she hopped up with an answer.

"One hundred and twenty!"

The hologram was impressed, "Hey! Respect your elders young lady. If anypony's gonna raise their voice, it's gonna be me got it? Now, looks like you're right once again. Hmph. I still wouldn't go writing home to mommy about it, especially considering this next one. Take the number of letters in the alphabet, plus how many teaspoons there are in a gallon, minus half the freezing point of water in degrees F. Try that on for size little one!"

Tyra smirked, getting that one right, then listening to the next.

 

"Ah, this should prove much easier!" She claimed, then tapped her hoof again, "Twenty-six letters...um, fifty degrees...but how many teaspoons...?"

 

She vaguely recalled such a question while being taught by the village wizard as a filly, and him being rather specific about it.

As in, drilling it into her head.

 

"Ah, yes!" She nodded, "Now, I put those together...minus..."

 

She smirked. "Seven-hundred and fourteen."

The hologram laughed loudly, "Ahahaha. Ahah-No. 26 letters yes, 768 teaspoons in a gallon, but the freezing point of water in degrees  F is 32! 32! Half of 32 is 16! Not 50! So I'll stop you right there little one. Haha! 26 plus 768 minus 16 equals 778! One strike young lady, ready for the next one?"

"What?!" Tyra yelped, surprised she'd got that wrong, "Not my fault my village does not use that measuring..."

 

She snorted and stood firm, preparing for her next test.

"Aye, I shall not be bested by this one," She said sternly, "Bring forth the next one, I shall conquer it."

The hologram laughed, "Haha! I knew it. You and you're team is made of nothing but a bunch of quivering schoolgirls with ribbons in your hair! Now try this, take the exact number of zeros in the number 1 billion, times the number of hydrogen atoms in a single water molecule, divided by the number of Equestria's Queens gets you.....?"

Ticktock yelled from the cage "18 the answer is 18. Very easy to be honest there are 9 zeros in one billion, there are 2 hydrogen atoms in a water molecule which equals 18 then there is only one queen in Equestria (Queen Chrysalis) so 18 divided by 1= 18. Also for your information I am nothing like most young ponies I have spent my whole life learning."

The elderly pony heard Ticktock's answer, "Quit yer whinin' ya loose lipped colt. And not bad, you're right. But now for tne fifth and final test. This one is so difficult, that not even all the elderly know it. So ya better be payin' attention ya lily-livered foals! Or else your precious princess loses magic! Got it?!"

Ticktock stared at the elderly pony "I am so go ahead and ask oh and with the amount of study I have done I know more then most ponies ever will so if you think I can't do it go ahead and ask and I am sure you will be pleasantly surprised." Ticktock smirked there wasn't much he didn't know.

The elderly pony grew a smug smirk, "Alright then wise flank. Since you think you can handle it, here it is. This is the ultimate number. The number that everypony thinks is best. But its actual value is the worst. What number is it? Take your time, I'm sure my grandmother could knit 50 sweaters by the time you figure it out."

Ticktock pondered for a second before coming up with an answer "1 the number is one. This is because many ponies like winning (or being number 1) also many ponies think they are the best and say they are 'number 1' so due to these reasons I think that the answer is 1."

The hologram laughed, "Aha. That's indeed the answer. Maybe you're not all just a bunch of whiny schoolfillies after all? Ah, but you're still young with a lot to learn. Don't get a swelling head over this one time victory you hear me? But regardless, I think Scarlett has an actual threat on her hooves.....anyway, good luck. Choose your door......" And with that, he disappeared, and the doors were able to be opened with a specific button for them to choose, as well as Ticktock and Icarus being released from their cages.

Ticktock walked out of the cage and looked at the buttons "I think we should keep heading east it has seemed to work out for us so far." Ticktock was having a bit of a dilemma since he had first met Scarlett he had wondered what cold cause a pony to go so mad and thinking of how it could happen was enough to rip him apart.

Tyra had begun calming down when Ticktock decided to assist in the brainteasers, something she was never that good at.

 

"My thanks for your assistance, my friend," She smiled to him, then looked to the buttons.

 

She blinked, then looked back up to him. "But is Luna in the east? We may be going in circles as far as we both know!"

And as soon as they entered next room,doore struck behaind them,light come back on and Scarlet playfull voice started "Relly soory for power out,but I see you tok best from it.".Screching behaind them could be heard,it must have been thet dog like monster two rooms ago waked up."I see Slick is sad there,he didnt get a chance to play with his toys,poor boy." Scarlet was quait for a moment and then as lest time playfully contineued "Well he is relly sad there,and I must give him something to play with....and by look...of it...you are the lucky winers"Shadows from flote spided out cage with thet dog like monster in it,and he looked in rage"Hope you die,you started to board my.Not so strong,not so smart....but relly pain in the flank..hahaha...just kiding...Oh and before I forget.." Monster have broken out of it cage."He didnt eat noting from thos order agents lest night!" Scarlet laugh as the monster looked Tyra Ticktock and Icarus.

Tyra perked up as the power went out momentarily, and a screeching sounded from behind.

She scowled as the witch made herself known once again, and informed them the dog monster from before was not finished with them.

 

The beast quickly caught up with them, growling as it towered above them.

 

She raised a hoof to Ticktock, to keep him back.

"Wait," She told him, "Allow me to try befriending it. Perhaps it may help us."

 

She began a slow careful walk toward the monster.

Dog like monster look right in small pony thet tryed to walked close to him,in his eyes our heroes could see thet he is here for bloode.But as Tyra moved closer he moved litle away from her.He was interested to see what this small and week pony whanted to do,but he was ready to jump up on her with frst  look of danger,or when he see thet pony have lowered her guard too much...

Tyra slowly approached the creature, trying to appear as little threatening as possible.

 

"Hello, friend," She began, smiling at the creature, "I do not wish to harm you. I wish to befriend you, and ask for your assistance through this dungeon."

 

She reached into her bag and pulled out a piece of fish she'd saved from a while ago. It was still fresh, and perhaps the dog would accept it. She dropped it on the ground and stepped back from it.

"Perhaps an offering will help you decide, yes?"

Ticktock didn't really think befriending the dog creature was the best idea "Um Tyra I really don't think this is safe if Scarlett wanted a killer animal I am sure it would be either untameable or very, very hard to tame so maybe if it likes the fish we can quickly run past it and escape?"

This creature looked at fish on ground,and then looked at Tyra,she was yet too close to food,and this monster would not get close to it.It insted moved litle to the side and looked at pony thet just talked in back of the room.He was ready to atack on frst wrong move of our heroes..

Tyra grinned as she saw the creature approach Ticktock with curiosity.

"Do not fear Ticktock," She told it, "He is a friend, as am I."

 

She nudged the fish closer. "It is meat, you will like it!"

 

She slowly raised a hoof toward the dog. "Will you allow me to pet you? You look like a good boy!"

Ticktock's eyes showed great fear as the dog focused on him "Yeah i'm a friend just like me and Scarlett are friends" Says Ticktock sarcastically. "Look Tyra I don't care how nice you think he is it is a beast that belongs to Scarlett and I wouldn't believe she would chose a kind beast."
