In Canterlot Wedding, the Mane 6 play extremely important roles in the wedding of Shining Armor and Cadance. Applejack did the catering, Rarity designed the dresses for Cadance and her Bridesmaids, Fluttershy's birds provided the chorus, Rainbow performed a Sonic Rainboom at the I Dos, Pinkie planned the reception and of course, Twilight oversaw everything mentioned above, as well as, of course, being her brother's Best Mare, a title that was given onscreen, taken away onscreen, and then given back offscreen.  In Part 2, near the end, we see Apple Bloom, Sweetie Belle and Scootaloo playing the part of the Flower Girls. But why the CMC as the Flower Girls? Why wasn't this position filled by generic nameless one-shot ponies like with the Bridesmaids?

I have a feeling they were actually chosen before Chrysalis changed to the other three. We saw all the things she was changing during the episode, that could of easily been one of them.

Ha, I completely agree with this. But really, I don't know what happened to the flower girls after the cave. Maybe Lyra said screw it and went hand-hunting? The writers probably just threw the CMCs in at the last minute, just to make things cuter.

After Twilight's friends suddenly became the bridesmaids, it is reasonable that Applejack and Rarity had suggested that their little sisters take part too (along with Scootaloo because why not) and the false Cadence would have agreed. It doesn't explain why those three would have come along in the first place but at least it makes sense that they were the flower fillies.

Those were the old bridesmaids. It was Lyra and those other two because coming up with new pony designs is... just SOOO MUCH WORK!!!!! :okiedokielokie:

We don't know who would have been flower fillies before the change.
