planning Ponyfinder: Age of Adventure (Updated) [Full]

I felt play by post would be easier in some way, since it would/could be very difficult to get everyone online for Skype or chat and have time to actually roleplay a decent amount before having to end it.

 

For example I know Spell Shock has a very different time zone for myself, with it being evening for me and it being easily morning for her. So having the roleplays work much like they already do on MLP Forums just using Pathfinder roles and mechanics, adding in rolling of the dice in a fair why I felt would be better.

Oh man... I just found the perfect class for someone who wants their character to become an 'Alicorn'. A Unicorn Eldrich Scion or Bloodrager with the Celestial Bloodline. 12th level, boom, wings... Kinda makes me wish I was playing again because I know how I'd make Star Saber in this now XD

Yea not my cup of tea. I have no unicorn OCs in mind for this. Only one I have is an OC by the name of Bright Heart. She is in an RP by The name of World of Discord.

It is not the wings that make an alicorn in my mind... of any case I would be weary of any who wanted to become an 'alicorn' through any means but a template or  Unification bloodline.

Also looking it up Wings of Heaven are temporary, much like the butterfly wings Rarity gained I would compare it to.

@@EquestrianScholar, Bloodrager's Bloodline and as a result, Eldritch Scion's bloodline does not have a duration tied to them. It just says you can 'Choose' to sprout wings.

Ok, let me begin this by saying that I tend to make characters for specific roleplays and then tend to keep them around afterwards.

 

I originally made Star Saber for a 'next generation' roleplay where he was the son of Shining Armor and Cadence. He wasn't going to start as an Alicorn but rather ascend at some point during the story similar to how Twilight ascended. Unfortunately the RP never really took off but I grew attached to the character... So with that mind, obviously he wouldn't work in the time line because he hasn't been born yet... Unless time travel shenanigans.

 

...which was a plot idea I was tinkering around with for either a RP or Fanfic; obviously not for this game.

Ah that does sound interesting, and I could see why you would be drawn to that build because of such. Though of note I looked into it and Bloodrager's Bloodline powers are only active while they rage.
 

When a bloodrager enters a bloodrage, he often takes on a physical transformation influenced by his bloodline and powered by the magic that roils within him. Unless otherwise specified, he gains the effects of his bloodline powers only while in a bloodrage; once the bloodrage ends, all powers from his bloodline immediately cease, and any physical changes the bloodrager underwent revert, restoring him to normal.

I thought what you said sounded off, asked on the forums.

Just goes to show Paizo should take the time to go back and clear up the wording in their books.

@@EquestrianScholar, Yeah because the Dragon Wings ability specifically calls out entering a Bloodrage while Wings of Heaven does not...

 

Reguardless... I have to rethink my build for Star Saber because Eldritch Scion is terrible with that in mind.

I could perhaps cook up an Aasimar-like race for those with an alicorn parent, then have it that wings could be gained like that of Angel Wings... or you could go with the Unification bloodline.

 

Going with the first this could encourage the idea only unicorns can become alicorns when it was established that Princess Cadance was born a pegasus and I would prefer encouraging the idea that alicorn means more a 'harmony of the three races in one form' not a unicorn with wings.

@@EquestrianScholar, If I really wanted a character to become an Alicorn I would rather it be through an important story event rather than just "Oh hey you've got a feat or class feature that makes you kinda an Alicorn now."

Honestly I agree, though discussion like this can still be fine. Even then, something should be considered since if an event actually took place warranting the change... how would you have it represented mechanically? At the very least a template should be considered, for a pony 'ascending' to alicornhood like Cadance and Twilight did.

@@The Jar, Do you mean like the OCs we use as our avatars? If so, no. I'm just messing around with making a character sheet for Star Saber because I can I don't actually intend to use it in game.
