Pet death?

I remember I made a thread about what if they killed off one of the characters and nobody agreed that it was a good idea, but what about a pet? What if Tank died in the latest episode instead of just hibernated? Or what about one of Fluttershy's pets like Angel or a bird or something? Or what about Owlowiscious? Or even Spike?

Do you think an episode about pet death could be interesting? Imagine Fluttershy crying because one of her pets died.  :( That might actually make me like Fluttershy again, because it'd give her something to do and to relate to her on and hopefully wouldn't feel forced. :)

Spike's not a pet. That'd be really messed up. :c

I think Tanks for the Memories is gonna be the closest thing to pet death we're gonna get 'cause, you know, kid's show and all. Dash pretty much went through the 5 stages of grief and eventually accepted Tank's hibernation. Another episode like that would take away the lesson of this episode. If anything's gonna die that I wanna see them talk about, it'd be a pony.

Pets are almost as important as the main characters in this show.

But one of Fluttershy's pets we've never heard of before? Maybe...

If they killed off one of the pets, they would have to get a pet graveyard set for $2.00. (Think of all of the possibilities...)

My Little Pony is growing more mature, (Tirek and Twilight epic battle) so, maybe in the future that episode might happen?

Indeed the show itself has grown more "mature", but I don't think Hasbro would literally kill off one of the pets. The "Tanks for the Memories" episode hinted at the emotional trauma someone feels when they die, but the show itself won't kill off someone. That's my take on it, but I could be wrong. MLP could pull a Disney and kill off a bunch of characters for all I know.

I'm very against these darker and more mature themes like characters dying in this show. I think it's totally unnecessary and would undermine one of the things MLP has going for it: it's innocent, cute charm.

Tell that to the bronies, it's innocent and cute charm sooner or later will become a Pony Horror Story.

And if Hasbro even does kill of a pet, it probably will get brought back to life 4 seasons later.

If bronies want a dark and edgy show, go watch something else. It's not ever going to happen to MLP and hoping it does is just asinine.

I think it will happen to MLP in about 3 or 4 years. ;)

I honestly don't see much need in it; I mean is there some unanswered plot line that is demanding the death of a pet? Outside of that this doesn't really need to be forced into the show.

I do agree with you, but the show has grown more mature. Tirek was an absolute chuck full of nightmare! The ponies practically KILLED Sombra. Through the seasons, MLP might change. I'm not a fan about all of these dark changes either, but I don't know what MLP is doing with their show.

Yeah, the plot line of Fluttershy crying because her pet died. That'd be interesting and would develop her character and be really, really sad. :)

I agree and I also think that they're going to try to age with their audience. If you look at Ninja Turtles, the last few seasons were darker than the original because they want the kids who grew up with it to still be interested as teenagers. I think MLP will do that. Maybe one of the villains will win and they'll have to try to defeat them within a post-apocalyptic world ruled by an evil character. That'd be cool.

That kind of stuff is fine. Fighting and destroying some bad guys is one thing. Having episodes where main characters or their pets die is something on a whole other level. Not to mention, with the last episode it'd be totally redundant.

But seriously, if some people had their way, there'd be a season-long war where ponies are brutally slaughtered while metal blasts in the background. :P

Cool is what the bronies want, but what about the children in their age group, won't they have to go through the horrid Fan Fictions?

That depends on execution, and considering we've already had Rainbow deal with (temp) loss, I'm not sure what good it would do to do it with Fluttershy for real.

Almost happened. Hasbro said no. One of the Fasutian ideas not implemented in the show.

Admittedly I did not know that; though I'm not too shocked with the outcome.

Honestly, the only actual death-related thing I would like to see addressed would be AJ's parents; outside of that anything else might be seen as forced; depending on execution.

I would have said no too. Lauren Faust, you dark, dark, woman.

Yep. Things like AJ's parents, Scootaloo's disability, and handling a lesser death like a pet were all things that Faust wanted to eventually tackle. It turned out that we did get these items ... but more symbolically. There is a sense or authorial artistry with these topics that makes Pony stand out. The better shows today do the same thing.

TFtM did add a little to the impact any passing would have had on AJ if you want to take that angle ("She cries on the inside"). Note that the Morrow wrote both eps, but I am not sure how much she had to do with the shooting starts, and how much was the boarders (Sibsy) with the showrunners.

I highly doubt that we will ever even have any character die let alone die on screen. You can claim that the show is getting more mature but the little girls this show is intended for might not take it so well so I don't think the writers would want to touch the subject of death.

Tank's hibernation is the closest thing we will get to a death. Except for King Sombra, I think he does die on-screen but who cares, he is a villain.

VERY good point; that was something I didn't connect previously. It does add a bit of depth to her; much appreciated Ms. Morrow. :)

I care. :(

I think there's some chance they'll kill off Discord, because John de Lancie can't be replaced and he's probably expensive.
