Tom Snyder 4,112 May 8, 2015 Share May 8, 2015 I don't hate her, i could care less what form she takes. The good thing about her being an alicorn, is the flight school jokes you could make about her. Luna the Great of all the Russias 2,986 May 8, 2015 Share May 8, 2015 (edited) After five full pages of posts, I assume Grumpy Enchantress has a pretty good idea on people's opinion on Twilight. But to contribute, I would consider her to be my second best pony. I believe her ascension to alicorn could have been done much better: felt too rushed, last assignment leading to ascension questionable, and songs were nice but seemed... unfitting? But as for Twilight actually being alicorn I have no problem with. I will admit when I first heard of rumours of Twilight's ascension back in beginning of season 3, I was very against idea. To an extent I still am but it doesn't bother me much at all. I'm saying I still have some anti-alicorn sentiment, not because of not wanting Twilight to change, but I see it more fitting for alicorn status to be reserved for demi-gods/demi-goddesses like Celestia and Luna; for instance, I would prefer if Cadance was powerful unicorn instead of alicorn. But again despite my disagreement, it ultimately doesn't bother me much. Edited May 8, 2015 by Tsaritsa Luna 2 Pony Art Thread Brony since ~25 July of 2011. DragonFlyer 329 May 8, 2015 Share May 8, 2015 Hate? Hate is such a strong word. I don't think anyone hates Twilight (at least I hope not) Personally she has been one of my favorites since I first stumbled onto the fandom, no doubt thanks to her being a bit of a nerd with OCD tendencies. I wasn't a big fan of the whole "princess" thing at first but it's grown on me. Plus I like the fact that, despite being a princess now, she's still a lovable dork.
Cleverclover 1,526 May 8, 2015 Share May 8, 2015 I hereby end my role in this discussion in the interest of peace and calm and do swear to only bring it up again if/when I see yet another example of the show attempting to get me to shower Twilight with my endless praise because she was once again made to look superior to everyone around her in one way or another.....or something similar. Though if that never happens, it shall never be brought up again, except only to admit that I no longer hold the same feelings.
Flutter's lover <3 8,206 May 8, 2015 Share May 8, 2015 I don't, nor do I hate any character in the show. To me, it seems rather childish to "hate" on a character. Hating on something like a cartoon character is just pointless. Hate is just such a strong word. That said I don't really "Dislike" any character either. I'm just indifferent to them, compared to the ones I do like. So what if Twilight is or is not a Mary Sue, in the end it's just a TV show. 2 Fluttershy's lover, she's my waifu. I'm in love and obsessed with her, she's given me shyabetes. *Hnnnng* Yellow Pink Squee Blogs | Ask one of Fluttershy's biggest fans | Official Fluttershy fanclub page! But again despite my disagreement, it ultimately doesn't bother me much. I agree, Twilight's ascension was handled poorly. I would've liked to have seen a more gradual buildup, more tests from Celestia and such. Aside from the fact that Twilight was apparently able to do something that Starswirl couldn't, I don't see how casting the spell and then fixing it could've been that big a deal. And why was creating "new magic" so suddenly important? More to the point, what was this "new magic" that Celestia spoke of? It couldn't have been the literal counterspell, otherwise there would be a lot more Alicorns puttering about who have written spells and counterspells. Was it the reaffirmation of the friendship of the mane six? I don't think so, otherwise Twilight would've got her wings in the season 2 premiere. Even still, the magic of Friendship isn't "new magic", the mane six have had it since the very first episode, and Friendship has been personified through the Elements of Harmony, which I don't think even Celestia knows how long they have been around. Obviously not new. Edited May 8, 2015 by Prince Firemane
Mantis01 19 May 8, 2015 Share May 8, 2015 (edited) The only Twilight I think that might be disliked is the fragile and weak Equestria Girls version that is basically Twilight forcibly stripped down of her character qualities and made more vulnerable all for the story plot. Twilight was turn into a human, it was new to her and she wasn't use to it, plus she couldn't use magic Not to mention that she's in a different world. Sunlight Shimmer had been in the world a lot longer than Twilight and understand it more, Twilight just got there and freak out, she didn't even understand it and acted like her pony/alicorn self Edited May 8, 2015 by Mantis01
Shanks 10,816 May 8, 2015 Share May 8, 2015 Twilight was turn into a human, it was new to her and she wasn't use to it, plus she couldn't use magic Not to mention that she's in a different world. How Twilight was handled in the first Equestria Girls movie actually gave me hope that the twilicorn concept might work, it hadn't sold me on it and I am still not sold on it but it at least brought me from staunch opposition into the wait and see mode I am still in today. Giving her a challenge she couldn't use her typical means to overcome was quite needed at that point if you ask me.
