Humble, being the gentlecolt he is, wanted to pick up Spellbind's hat for her, but she was fast, a little too fast he thought. That's when he got a clear look at the situation, and Spellbind's horn. "oh...uh...." It was a that moment he knew he was on thin ice. Before, he placed some of the pieces together, her hat, her name, what Zecora said, and believed Spellbind to just be hiding her magic. Now, with all the pieces together, he knew the truth, a dangerous truth. He was shocked to see something like this, and part of him wanted a full explanation. Though how would that help anypony now, questioning a mare about her "deformity". Another part of him wanted to walk away and ignore what he saw, but he knows running from the truth solves nothing, it only make things worse. What he really wanted, was to just help Spellbind, as he knew deep down, that this was something she was trying to run from, as he was running from his own kinds of truth. But what was he to say? Well, anything would be better than just staring at her "deformity". "your...um....horn...Spell...bind..." Smooth, Humble...smooth... he thought sarcastically.

Spellbind sighed and nodded. "I was born with it..." she explained, doing her best to hold back her tears. "It makes it hard for me to do magic. I-I'm sorry for lying to all of you..."

 

She put her hat back on, though what use was that now as long as these ponies were here?

"It...must be so hard for you....I can't even imagine" Humble replied, trying to find the right words to say,"this probably means nothing to you...but...I'm not a good flyer...I can only fly near the ground...Fast speeds scare me, or could make me sick....there's also the problem that ...*exhales*....I'm....terrified of heights...." Humble takes a moment to look at Spellbind, then continues "As you can tell" Humble adjusts his glasses "my eyesight isn't the best....I was also born with low blood pressure so there are certain times that I....lose my eyesight for a minute...and it always terrifies me...then there's this...." Humble takes off his glasses, making sure his eyes are properly seen, revealing his deformed right eye. "I was born with a droopy eyelid... so I mostly rely on my left eye to see...though I can still see with both and I gotten through life fine...it's just...all this with my eyes and fears concerns me...that I'm not normal..." he takes a good breath, puts his glasses back and make sure he's properly looking at Spellbind. "But all of this, shouldn't concern you. What I seen of you before, wasn't something like me. You didn't let anything hold you back and always looked forward, especially for the needs of others. Even if none of us knew about this, you still looked like a mare who didn't let her negative side of life get her down. You are brave, kind, understanding, in ways I can't compare.  I'm sure you're ten times as great now than I could ever be. If you do think this, deformity, weakens you, Zecora said you hide power under your hat. I'm sure she believes you could over come this obstacle."Humble looks to the others, "I'm sure the rest of us believe in you". He looks back at Spellbind,"But if not", he puts his hoof on her shoulder "I know for sure, that I believe in you..."

"Thank you kindly for the pep talk," said Spellbind. "But you've got me all wrong. The negative side of my life holds me down all the time."

 

"When I was a filly, I once tried to saw my horn off. And many more times, I tried to hurt myself in other ways."

 

"I got bullied for this a lot back in school..."

 

And being the emotionally-unhealthy and self-deprecating person that she was, Spellbind tried to justify the bullies' treatment of her. "But no matter. If it were anypony else, it would be a problem... but I'm worthless, c-can't help anypony..."

 

Tears started to well up. "Next time the shadows come, I might... take the opportunity t-to end this trouble..."
 

She curled up and his her face in her lap. "F-forever..."

Lightning Strike overheard their conversation, she flew down from the tree and put her hoof on Spellbind, @Littlecandylulu903 "listen to me, you can help people, just because you have a deformity doesn't mean you cant do anything, along with Humble, I believe in you to. dont let anything make you feel worthless or want to do something bad to yourself, you have a good life, and supporting friends, and no pony could ever replace you"

From a nearby tree, a little crystalline eyeball, hidden within a bush looked at the ponies. 

 

From the hideout, he looked into his orb. "Ahhh, so the one with the strange horn is the weakest link" he laughed darkly. "And that pegasus as well. I will use that to my advantage" he told himself, smiling.

Humble got down next to her, holding his hoof on her back "you helped me....that's not something anypony else could do." He knew he had to do something for Spellbind, just didn't think it would come to this...He took a deep breath:

I came here to ponyville,

and shadows that made me tear.

Spellbind just sat there staring at Humble dumfounded throughout the song, and after it. "H-Humble..." she was able to say. "I-if you wrote that just now... there m-must have been... so many... emotions running through you..."

 

"Nothing like that's ever happened to me before..." she went on. "I-I didn't actually... think... somepony..."

 

She gave up on trying to speak. "OH COME HERE YOU ANGEL!" she cried with happiness, tears rapidly flying out of her eyes as she hugged Humble, then sobbed with all her might into his fur.

Blizzard was confused and asked Lighting, "So what's the plan here? What should we do for our next move? I think something really big is coming, and I don't like the feel of it. So do you have any ideas on what we should do next Lightning? Caliber, you got any ideas?"

"Well we are going to go to the old castle of the two sisters first to see if that is where all this is coming from" me and skylar are going to be in the skies and I guess we could do an air dive attack if you run into trouble down there. I've got my lightning powers to fight any enmities and well, skylar has her huge wings which I guess she could flap them really hard to cause a big wind in a way"

"I just...do what I can"Humble replied. He sat there holding Spellbind for as long as she needed, with a relieved spirit."I'm just glad I met you, and I'm trying to repay you for all you did for me. You more than deserved it. Normally I would write songs to pass the time, and give me something to strive towards. Thank you for giving me inspiration to truly write one for you, I don't know how i can thank you for that."

Skylar rolled her eyes at Humble and Spellbind. They're actually really cute, she thought privately, but wouldn't have voiced the thought to save her life. She turned to Lightning, beaming, flapping her wings slightly. "Aw yeah! Now that's an idea!" She said. She would have to try that out.

Blizzard replied, "Ok, that's a good idea. Maybe we can find out an answer there. We just gotta keep going." Blizzard picked Caliber up and tossed him ahead, "Come on old buddy, let's get moving. Just stick together and we'll be fine. Anypony got the directions to that Castle? I got no idea where it is."

"Alright I guess we are ready to go now" lightning strike flew up into the air "c'mon skylar!" She called out, "alright everypony get your things together, we are leaving now" she flew down and lightly nudged Humble with her hoof, "c'mon, tell your new girlfriend we're leaving now" she said with a smile

"Me and skylar could fly ahead to find where the castle is then come back and tell you I guess" LS flew back up into the air and started looking for the castle "we should return soon, we are both pretty fast flyers" after she said that she disappeared above the trees

Skylar flew up like a shot, eager to move. Something had been tugging at the back of her mind for a little while now. "Hey, Lightning," Skylar said, confident as ever, "you know, when we were fighting, I thought I saw something in the trees. The shadow of some pony, maybe."

Humble nodded to Lightning then turned to Spellbind, "uh...Spellbind...the rest of the group is heading out, do you think you''re ready to go with them? If not, maybe I can stay here by Zecora's hut with you if you want. I'm sure the group would understand. They seem like they got all this all under control without us. If you're ready later, I'll do what I can to have us catch up to them."

"Huh, well next time you see this shadow, tell me or one of the others so we can find out what that was" LS was thinking, could she have seen the mastermind of these shadows or was it just another shadow pony who hadn't come out yet, LS soon spotted the castle, she said to skylar "there it is! Let's go back and tell the others" she then turned around in the direction of the hut

caliber jumped up. "lets go!" he said, as he streched and started looking at the others. "i know where the castle is, its right this way. for around five miles. lets go!" caliber began to happily trot into the woods, apparently not caring if the others followed.

He looked through his orb, smiling with his sharp teeth. "These ponies, they think that they can take on me. Do they not know that the worst disadvantage is fighting the enemy on his home turf? Hahaha. They shall live to regret opposing me. Especially Equestria, it shall burn in the flames of shadow" he laughed darkly.

Blizzard shouted, "Ok Lightning, we'll keep our hooves on the ground! Yeah! Now it's Ice and Dice time!!!! I'm right behind ya bro!" Blizzard said as he began to skate evven up with Caliber as he went into the forest, "Come on let's get moving! We're Ice and Dice bro, let's make our move!"

"Well... what are you doing?" asked Spellbind to Humble, who she was happy to call her new coltfriend. "Staying here or going with them? Because I want to have some time with you, my dear..."

 

"They've got things well for themselves..." she said, looking at the rest of the group.

"Well.." Humble replied "I decided because of you to come on this journey and to help our new friends. If they need help from you and me, then we should give it to them. But if you'd rather stay here for the moment I'll be sure you're...not alone." Really, Humble doesn't know what to do. With everything that happened because of the shadows, his flute, his friends and....Spellbind, his mind is not as it should be. Though if it is to just one pony that is Spellbind, he'll do what he can for her...even if he made himself trapped in this.....relationship with her...something he'll overlook.

Kaymen comes crashing Down from one of the turrets of the castle, something had preoccupied his time, it looked like he was fighting something. He falls unconscious as he hits The side of the castle. His bat friend screeches, very concerned as he lay there. He grunts a few times, but otherwise he's still alive. "D...da...dad..." He says, while still unconscious.

"Well... I-I could go..." said Spellbind. "On second thoughts, they really could use our help."

 

She nuzzled with him and pulled him closer to her. "You helped me realize that, Humble Hymn. I'm not as useless as I've thought for my entire life. That life is behind me. If you think I'm a good person and I've helped you... how bad can I be?"

"That's good to hear" Humble said, trying to hold back his blushing from the extreme closeness he is to Spellbind, and trying politely to get out of it. "I...uh...think we should get going before we fall too much behind." he was going to get up, Then stopped. "Are-Are you going to keep covering your horn.I'll understand you do. I know this sounds wrong, but I-I just thought I could get the chance to get used  to you, the real you, if that's okay..."
