Somberhoof 156 May 18, 2015 Share May 18, 2015 Greetings, everypony. I don't think that my question is unique, and it has probably been already posted somewhere on this forum... may be even multiple times... But is it possible that the Frozen North is the land, shown as a ponies' home in "Hearth's Warming Eve"?
Ashen Pathfinder 16,161 May 18, 2015 Share May 18, 2015 @ Just letting you know that I moved your thread to Show Discussion as it involves the lore of the show itself. General Discussion is largely for non-pony related topics. Thanks. Shanks 10,816 May 18, 2015 Share May 18, 2015 I don't think so, in the Hearths Warming Eve episode it said that the three pony races each had their own nation and that Equestria formed when they all got together. It is possible though that there could have been a united pony kingdom before the pony races split into three nations and it could have been in what is now the frozen north but I haven't seen enough evidence of that. The Crystal ponies who live there now are another question, I am very curious as to whether they evolved from the ponies who formed Equestria or evolved from a common ancestor. Then there are the Shadow/Umbra ponies who Fiendship is Magic #1 confirmed is King Sombras species in their case I suspect that they are the Crystal Ponies evolved from a common ancestor or that their lineage may be the result of a curse. In one MLP comic it says that the ponies evolved from horses as in the kind of horses the exist on earth in real life much like how human beings are believed to have evolved from apes. This makes sense though it would be rather interesting to figure out how they all branched out as they did though if they did evolve from horses than it reasonable to assume that earth ponies were the first and oldest pony race. 1 Rarity Get's Cockroaches

Beg pardon, but I don't remember any of the comics saying that. And yep, ShadeRover, the Frozen North does look to be farther north than the Crystal Empire, judging by the Equestria map we've got.
Fhaolan 4,484 May 19, 2015 Share May 19, 2015 Now, it is implied in Hearth's Warming Eve that the ponies traveled some distance from their original lands to 'discover' what would eventually be called Equestria in their search for somewhere outside of the Windigoes' influence. However, that doesn't mean that Equestria didn't expand over time to absorb the former homelands once the Windigoes were defeated. It's also implied that the 'Crystal Empire' was originally much larger than a single city, and may at one point have included the modern Equestria. Something to remember, we're dealing with over a thousand years at a minimum for the peak of the Crystal Empire, and who knows how much further back the Hearth's Warming tale goes. With that kind of time span borders can radically change and be forgotten by the general populous.
The Awesome One 1,315 May 19, 2015 Share May 19, 2015 I am pretty sure that it isn't. They combined the lands of their countries to make Equestria so it wasn't just the Frozen North. It must have consisted of other areas as well because I doubt the ponies would live in such a cold place when there are warmer and more fertile areas to live in. Justin_Case001 4,896 May 19, 2015 Share May 19, 2015 Ysgramare brought the first 500 ponies from the Frozen North during the first age. They settled in a small village, and built their hall where the caslte of the sisters now stands. Ysgramare's tomb lies deep beneath the Everfree Forest.
