Cwanky 17,802 May 25, 2015 Share May 25, 2015 (edited) Excuse you all I am twenty years old and I still have sleepovers and what could be considered tea parties. I also make pillow forts, play "kiddie" videogames like mario kart, and watch a cartoon about candy-colored horses. I do these things because, shockingly enough, despite being an adult I still like to have fun I think people should stop seeing adulthood as such a boring thing and not be afraid to have a little light-hearted fun! Precisely adult women having a sleepover isn't that that much different than adult men having a tailgate, partying watching a sports game or even girls night out. If people think adult sleepovers are odd they haven't been outside much. Guys get together and spend the weekend with a lot of time and money just to do fantasy sports. And if you think that's odd, many people get up as early as 4-5am just to go play golf or tennis. Get over yourselves and learn to have fun. Exactly who says as an adult you can't have fun spending the night at a friends, staying up late playing games late into the night and then crashing out wherever lol More convenient to be at their house in the morning when you want to hang out the next day lol. I've been getting more into writing fanfics, mainly MLP since it has such a deep pool of creativity to pull from. I'm good with character and story concepts, so if you need help with a fanfic or something feel free to Private message me But don't be hurt if I have to decline if I'm tapped out for a bit. Otherwise I'm fairly good at it just sometimes I have to let my mind subconsciously think of some ideas. Shanks 10,817 May 25, 2015 Share May 25, 2015 (edited) Different culture, different norms. Yes this would be seen as strange for most human cultures but is not seen that way with Equestrian ponies because they seem to not have this preoccupation that a lot of human cultures have with avoiding things that are "childish". That is not to say that ponies don't have ideas about growing up or maturity, we have seen many times over that they do but they seem to have a much healthier, more balanced view of it than many humans have. I seriously wish that humans had these kind of attitudes because many human attitudes about what constitutes a well adjusted, mature adult are completely out dated and have actually lead to a lot of miserable, joyless adults. It seems like the ponies agree that when you grow up that you have certain responsibilities but that just because you grow up dosen't mean that you have to become some drone. sweetolebob18 728 May 26, 2015 Share May 26, 2015 To some extent, it comes down to age (See thread "How Old Are The Mane 6?) IMO, Twilight is the youngest (based on Cutie Mark Chronicles, she was applying to school when the others were already going). Plus, as a nerd she never had one in Canterlot. Look Before You Sleep is her 1st. Rarity & AJ are only taking part because 1) please a friend & 2) don't want to leave & drown or get hit by lightning. Dash is probably 2nd youngest (1st in her class to get Cutie Mark) & Pinkie is Pinkie (they broke the mold & then made her) As to tea parties. A century ago they were common among the wealthy. Women didn't work outside their home & had servants, so they had the time to entertain. I grew up in the 'burbs in the 50s & 60s. The mothers had them, they just called it "Dropping in"
cider float 2,539 May 26, 2015 Share May 26, 2015 Well this is probably going to sound boring and I guess you're looking for a more complicated answer but I'm just thinking that that's how things are in Equestria. I mean turn the question around, why are adults not having tea and slumber parties in reality? Because it'd be seen as weird for some. In the society we've grown up in we have been told that fun and silly things are only for children. Maybe this is just not the case where the ponies live. I must say, however, that I wonder how they can have teaparties with hooves.. I mean how could they possibly be able to bend the tip of the hooves like a hand? I know people don't like when I say this but I really do think it is kind of pointless to put effort into analyzing these kind of questions for a cartoon show about magical colorful happy ponies created for children, questions like "how did applejack think when she did a or b" is awesome for discussion but something like "why do the ponies never go to the bathroom?" do clearly not have an answer because it's all made up and the creators have not thought about every single little detail that is irrelevant for kids to enjoy the show, it's just the way things are. Agree on all your points. But that question can be answered by this lol
