reader8363 1,281 June 25, 2015 Share June 25, 2015 I'm working on a story, but I don't know if I should do it 1st person, 3rd person, or switch between 1st & 3rd.
SFyr 1,982 June 25, 2015 Share June 25, 2015 Depends on your focus? First person can give a more intimate take on that characters world or view, but third can allow for more solid exploration of multiple characters. Though, all of it still depends on the writer, as none of that is a given just by choosing first or third. Also, most stories I've seen are written in third, and while I've found many I enjoy in first, it can be a little more painful if the story isn't written well, or centered around someone who is interesting to follow. 1 Commission Thread | Deviantart | Poniverse Tumblr | Art Tumblr

Jeric 46,876 June 26, 2015 Share June 26, 2015 You also want to consider tense when determining POV. 1st person present, for example, is a completely different reading experience that 1st person past. You can also use POV in subtle ways. In Catcher in the Rye, the narrator is the main character, but his perspective on life has changed since the events of the story.
