SteveMorison 407 July 20, 2015 Share July 20, 2015 Luna said it was tradition for a princess to use the royal canterlot voice when adressing subjects, as she had been banished for 1000 years she did not realise tradition had changed. So it can only be assumed that Celestia used royal canterlot voice, unless it's somehow exclusive to the princess of the night. Trying to imagine celestia using the royal we and raising her voice everytime she adressed her subjects. Sidenote: Royal Canterlot Voice would seem to suit Prince Rutherford to a tee. Wonder if he uses it to adress his kingdom?
S.F. 1,560 July 20, 2015 Share July 20, 2015 It's only fair to assume that she did, but I think I can see why she might have phased it out after a while Although, how long had Luna been back by the time Nightmare Night came around? I'd like to think that she spend a good few months shouting her way around the castle, with nopony quite brave enough to point out that times have changed XD *Insert deep, intelligent and witty signature here*
colt .45 259 July 20, 2015 Share July 20, 2015 Yes, in Luna's first entry in the Journal of the Two Sisters she says Celestia and her used to practice the Royal Canterlot Voice, and pretend that were princesses, then laugh about it because they thought it was silly. So we know she has used it, just don't know if she ever used it in an official capacity as a princess.

She was being a troll by not telling her to not use the Canterlot voice.

Haha, sisters are as sisters do - and while I like that Tia can be a bit of a troll (including my head-canon ) - there is always the possibility that she didn't know. If Luna only ever subjects the voice to her subjects, and considering that they are both active during different times of the day, it may well be that she never heard it. I mean, she could sleep through someone screaming at the top of their lungs every night without noticing right...right? *Insert deep, intelligent and witty signature here*

manic 121 July 21, 2015 Share July 21, 2015 Well, Sunbutt has used the Royal Canterlot voice on occasion, or some version of it, usually when reprimanding Twi.
Daring_Do 552 July 21, 2015 Share July 21, 2015 Where does it state what Luna's first entry is - I'm assuming not the show? They made the journal into an actual real life book, written by Amy Keating Rogers (and from what I hear, based on the show bible and production notes).
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,939 July 22, 2015 Share July 22, 2015 I would assume so. Apparently the Journal of the Two Sisters mentions it, I really need to read that book. We really need a Celestia/Luna origin episode.
Red Cedar 1,408 July 22, 2015 Share July 22, 2015 Not only has Celestia used the Royal Canterlot Voice, Twilight herself has been on the receiving end of it. https://youtu.be/Wla0YxyMoMQ?t=267 Roleplaying OC: Red Cedar - Cast Character: Applejack

Daring_Do 552 July 22, 2015 Share July 22, 2015 Wait, seriously? How have I not heard of this before now???? I dunno, but I'm assuming from that that you're interested, so... Here's the link to the Kindle version (note you don't actually need a Kindle device to read Kindle books - Even your PC works) http://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Pony-Chronicles-Princesses-ebook/dp/B00KVK3WNQ But here's what the cover of the physical book apparently looks like, if you wanted to know:

The physical, hardbound book is beautiful, and is awesome to have on my shelf. I also have an e-book version I got from the Google play store for about five dollars (US).
