"What say we migrate north this winter?" She suggested, grinning nervously and edging toward the cleared street, "South is so last year anyway!"

"No argument here," Trivy said, backing away from the vicious melee developing in front of her. Marble bounced once and tried to take flight, but simply fell back down with a thud and a scowl. Crystal Spark had already reached the clear street, and had paused to look back at the rest of them. In one fluid motion Bramble shoulder barged one of the mutants blocking his way, pushed away from it and sank his knife into the leg of a second before charging between the two of them. He faltered mid-stride, but caught himself before he fell as he galloped back towards the rest of the group.

The mutants had clambered over the bodies of their fallen comrades, and Wilhelm found himself facing five at once - one each to his left and right and three coming at him from straight ahead. There were two mutants behind him, but they were advancing on Zayoh and Lavender.

As Zayoh sat on the ground focusing on keeping his aura expanded, he could sense a few members of the group abandoned the area only leaving three of them left. He could also sense two mutants advancing in his direction where lavender was as well. He couldn't decide if he should embrace self preservation or continue protecting Wilhelm and lavender from the affects of any chaos magic. He was also out of defensive potions and only had resorative potions left.

"My friends perhaps we should make a hasty retreat, to defeat all these foes would prove to be quite the feat." He sang out as he stood up and opened his eyes to see the mutants only feet away.

The zebra leapt backward to keep a short distance between them.

Lavender swallowed nervously as she watched the two mutants approach her and Zayoh. She looked over to him, seeing him still meditating. He looked so calm, like a single small flame dancing in the middle of an inferno.

She wanted to do something, but she felt totally helpless without her magic. Her imagination powers didn't seem to be working either, despite all of her trying.

"Bulldozers, air drops, giant basketballs, hail the size of carts," she muttered hastily, regardless.

She went quiet with relief as Zayoh stood and voiced his wanting to run.

"We hear you on that!" She called over, referring to herself and the voice in her head.

Her edging back toward the street quickened.

The alicorn-demon had backed up some distance and taken flight, hovering above the square and apparently content to watch its minions swamp the ponies below. Dozens more mutants, possibly even hundreds, were swarming into the square now.

Assorted heavy items failed to rain down from the sky. The alicon-demon seemed amused - although whether the laughter was diabolical, amused, taunting or maniacal was difficult to determine.

Her edging back toward the street quickened.

With throaty growls, the two remaining mutants that Lavender had befriended leapt forwards, interposing themselves between Lavender (and behind her, Zayoh) and the advancing hostile mutants. Their coats had taken on a faint shade of purple, and the growths on their flanks appeared to have shifted slightly, an inverted delta surrounded by a circle with an indistinct blob in the middle being faintly visible as shapes in the tumours.

" 'UN " Bramble shouted back at them as he turned back to help Wilhelm, dodging and cutting through the throng of mutants with remarkable grace and agility.

Lavender's face perked up with relief as the things she'd muttered began materialising from the air, but the demon seemed more amused by her trying. Even her imagination powers weren't any use!

She gasped as two of the mutants she'd befriended leapt between her and the hostile mutants. She tilted her head as the flesh on their flanks moulded into inverted delta signs, surrounded by a circle with blobs in the middle.

Like...some kind of insignia, she thought.

Speaking of thoughts, her ears twitched as the voice in her head spoke up again.

...if you could move away from that zebra then I could do something, but not whilst he's doing *that*...

She took a look at Zayoh, who was still in deep concentration.

Move away from the zebra...? She repeated in her head, then shrugged. If you say so, brain.

She began to slink back toward the north street, getting as far away from Zayoh as the voice wanted.

She couldn't help but worry for those mutants that leapt to her defence though...

Zayoh glanced back at Lavender and was curious why she was abandoning him. "Did she get a look at my face? Is she one who does not approve of my race?" He wondered to himself before his attention was grabbed again by the sounds of snarling mutants.

He still had his sword hidden within his cloak but would much prefer to not use it if he was able. He begun slowly backing away from the mutants allowing the new allies to handle the mutants for him, unfortunately he couldn't really assist Wilhelm without opening himself to attack.

He continued walking back toward Lavender since she seemed to be the one that he bonded the most with previously, evendors though he felt she was afraid of him if she learned his identity. But he wanted to protect her and the others, so he wanted to move closer so he could keep the chaotic affects from the group. He was unaware it was his aura hindering her magic.

The two lavender-tinted mutants broke away from the confrontation and galloped after Lavender, the horde close behind them. Bramble was also retreating rapidly now, kicking at any mutant that got too close with his hind legs. With Wilhelm keeping pace above, the four of them were rapidly closing the distance between themselves and Zayoh, Lavender and the rest of the group.

With Wilhelm keeping pace above, the four of them were rapidly closing the distance between themselves and Zayoh, Lavender and the rest of the group.

Lavender watched as the mutants protecting her galloped toward her, with the horde close behind.

She was incredibly grateful that they were so loyal to her, but she couldn't help but worry. These poor things had already had so much done to them, and now all of this. They didn't deserve it...

And just like if the mutants had some psychic connection with her, her concerns were answered. They scattered away safely, all sporting minor injuries but they would be fine.

...how do I know that...? I never saw any...?

She mulled in her head that that kind of thing would be related to Crystal Spark. "Maybe we have something in common...?" She mused to herself quietly.

"May have something in common?" The voice scoffed inside her head, "You both have a leg at each corner with a head at the front and a tail at the back - why yes, you do have something in common. Your insights astound me sometimes."

"Shuddup," She pouted, puffing out her cheeks which blushed in slight embarrassment, "you're a possible figment of my imagination!"

"Jokes aside, you are correct," The voice continued, in a more serious tone, "watch out for Crystal Spark, and I mean that in both the protective and the wary sense of the phrase."

She glanced over to the mare in question, blinking.

"How come?" She inquired, "She's weird and says strange things, like me, so why do I have to be wary? Is she scary? She seems more merry. Does she not eat dairy? I could go on."

Zayoh approached the group again with his aura still extended out to help protect the group from any chaotic magic that may be directed at them. "What would be the plan for us now? If we are to make an escape I would have to question how?" He asked beginning to become worried for the well being of the group.

The Zebra touched the amulet that was still concealed by his cloak with his hoof and begun muttering a short prayer in his native tongue.

"Up the 'orth ftreet, RUN!" Bramble called, the knife in his mouth slurring his words. The square was almost totally full now, with mutants pouring in from all the other streets, and he was dashing forwards, striking one or two and darting back, but it was proving futile as there were simply too many of them to stop or even slow down.

"The street looks clear, although there's something big in the plaza beyond. It's not moving though." Wilhelm called out from above, peering ahead.

Lavender was flung out the window of her strange train of thought by Bramble's yelling to run. Not needing to be told twice, she turned and booked it up the north street.

"Running, running, running, running!" She yelped.

Wilhelm kept a close eye on the big... thing. He was reluctant to term it anything else; it didn't appear to have a gender... like most strange, blue-colored crystal golems. The odd thing is, Wilhelm thought, I've seen old paintings of Princess Twilight's old castle. Could this be... no. The infused friendship magic would keep them from forming into anything... too nasty. I hope.

Taking a deep breath, Wilhelm spiraled down into the square, banking at a sharp angle to land on the sill of a window. His hoof went to the quiver of arrows on his flank, and he cursed softly as he remembered he lost several during his escape from the massive mutant horde.

Looking meaningfully at Lavender - the most impetuous of all his young students - Wilhelm lifted a hoof to his muzzle, in the universal gesture for "quiet".

It certainly was unlike any 'natural' creature. It appeared to be a quadruped, although there were no other discernible features - neither head nor tail, no wings or arms, and apparently not even a mouth. Its blue crystal  exoskeleton, or possibly skin (if it fell into any existing biological category at all) was translucent, and it was just possible to see a chaotic patchwork of colours beneath it - greens, yellows, pinks, reds, purples. The creature, or statue, or whatever it was, was lying on its side, half-curled around a a glowing amber crystal around the size of a pony's head.

Crystal Spark was staring at it with a mixture of awe and terror on her face, shaking slightly. Despite the pursuing mutants, Trivy and Marble had also stopped to stare at it, transfixed by its size (if it were standing, it would be as tall as a three-floor building) and majesty. It almost seemed to radiate power, and looking at it for more than a few seconds was enough to give a pony a headache.

Lavender, like her allies, stared longingly up at the jewel being wrapped up by the creature. She didn't know why, but she wanted it. A lot. Right now.

Her ears twitched up as the voice began speaking to her inside her head again.

"...okay, don't wake it," she muttered, almost to herself, "...so then we can escape? ...I like marshmallows! ...wait, I don't wanna die in a cave!" She frowned sadly, then blinked curiously. "You mean...?" Her eyes darted toward Zayoh's direction.

Out the corner of her eye, she spotted the two mutants - tinted lavender to match her coat - standing flanking her. The tumours on their flanks had morphed to resemble her own cutie mark.

She raised a left hoof, and the mutants copied her perfectly. Then a hind leg, and a swish of the tail.

A foallike grin crossed her face and she began bobbing herself to a beat inside her head. As she hoped, the mutants bopped along in perfect sync. She could get used to these two.

The voice in her head spoke up again, snapping her out of her little jig.

"R-right, get the jewel," she muttered nervously, then began edging towards the creature, trying her best to keep silent.

Zayoh looked upon the creature with curiosity, he recognized it as a creature he had saw earlier that day destroying the town but now it was coated in a coat of crystal. He questioned how such a thing happened and why the creature was lying on the ground, however he could sense a large amount of spiritual disturbance in the area and he was having trouble concentrating. For now the zebra reduced the size of his aura so he could focus on the crystal and figure out what was happening with it.

He then saw the mare lavender beginning to make her way toward it so he slowly walked after her and caught up to her as he made his own approach toward the crystal. "Perhaps you shouldn't interfere with the crystal my friend, there is much spiritual power eminating from it and helping them is what I intend." He said as he continued toward the crystal carefully.

Wilhelm looked around the plaza, categorizing all the possible escape routes. He didn't like the look of the golem, and as he thought about it, his gaze drifted back to the crystal creature. Strangely, it now shimmered with many different colors, through what seemed to be the whole spectrum. Perhaps more notable, Wilhelm thought, is that red, indigo, and green were missing, replaced with a pure white and a bright pink. So it's cerulean, lavender, pink, yellow, white, and orange. What could that mean?

Fascinated, he crept closer, hopping over a small gap between windowsills to get closer. Immediately, as if Wilhelm had crossed an invisible barrier, he was hit with a magical surge akin to a buck to the chest. His wings flared backwards to keep his balance, and - thankfully - he didn't fall off the sill. However, Wilhelm did have to endure a bit of embarrassing bobbling and wobbling.

Slowly, he turned to face the golem, which felt like turning into a wind tunnel. He edged backwards into the building, and the force abated, though still strong. This, Wilhelm thought, is a bad time to be magically sensitive. As he thought this, however, something caught his attention between the golem's forelegs. It appeared to be cradling some kind of orange crystal, which Wilhelm just... felt as the source of the power. His feathers shivered at the sight of it.

"Strange," Wilhelm whispered. "Such a crystal could power a shield spell like this for years; decades, even. But how could this crystal even have such magic? That would take a team of unicorns charging it for a 24-hour-shift week, and it would evaporate quite quickly... if it were enchanted by anything less than an alicorn."

Wilhelm thought for a long moment. "Princess Twilight, maybe? It could have been, her laboratory used to be here. I used to visit, awhile ago, before all this..." At that moment, everything snapped into place, and Wilhelm reeled. The Ponyville sign; the demon posing as Cadance; the crystal; the colors shimmering through the golem; Princess Twilight's lab... It all fit together somehow, but in the middle of the puzzle was a solid blank void.

And that crystal... "It could be coronium, the airship engine crystal... But no, that's blue, and usually enchanted for transmogrification. Definitely not rubedo, or oxium, or pallasite..." Wilhelm paused in his train of thought to squint at the crystal. "It's orange, and with that degree of modularity and capacity, it'd have to be Celestial citrine. A massive formation of it. But the rarity and difficulty of finding it would be prohibitive..."

As Wilhelm thought over what he just said, something tapped at the edge of his mind about 'rarity' and gem-crystals, plus the golem's light-shimmers. However, it was immediately jarred out of his head by the sound of pounding hoofsteps, and Wilhelm realized too late that he had forgotten the mutants...

Wilhelm looked around the plaza, categorizing all the possible escape routes.

There had originally been four other entrances, one of each side of the pentagon-shaped plaza, but the creature lay in front of one and another was blocked by rubble. The plaza itself was filled with trading stalls piled with assorted goods, ranging from rotted food to saddlebags and toys for foals, although many of the stalls and stands had been knocked over and broken - as if caught in a stampede.

@Orion Caelum@Unicorncob@Chip Circuit.

"We should break the crystal - that will bring down the shield," Crystal Spark said.

"I wouldn't want to be the one that does that - the magical energy in there will do a lot more than scorch your eyebrows off if it's released in one go," Trivvy chipped in.

"Just crack it then - it'll give us time to get clear." Crystal Spark answered.

However, it was immediately jarred out of his head by the sound of pounding hoofsteps, and Wilhelm realized too late that he had forgotten the mutants...

Bramble galloped into the plaza, and having caught up with the group he turned to confront the mutants again. Dozens of them were hot on his hocks, and the horde was slowly pouring out of the square and into the street leading to the plaza. The alicorn-demon had followed at a distance, apparently enjoying watching the chase.

Lavender tilted her head at the suggestion of breaking the crystal.

"Maybe we should pop holes in it?" She suggested, blinking curiously up at the jewel, "So it doesn't explode and leave a gooey mess you need a scraper to clean up?"

The lavender mutant by her left began shuffling over to one of the ruined buildings, snuffling her snout. Her curiosity peaked, she began following her.

"What is it?" She asked, "You sniffed something out? I hope it's edible, 'cuz I am starving."

Zayoh continued forward with his eyes fixated on the crystal and heard the plans of damaging the crystal. "please do not resort to such an action, it could harm those trapped inside and I cannot say what would be their reaction." He said as he approached the crystal, steadily feeling the resonating magical aura of the crystal increasing as he got closer to it.

The zebra reached the crystal and sat down before beginning to meditate in an attempt to possibly assist the spirits trapped within the crystal to escape. However he wasn't sure what the outcome of doing such a thing would be but maybe he could ask the spirits for their aid if they were grateful of his deed, if this would work.

Zayoh begun muttering a prayer in his native tongue, as he did so the amulet concealed by his cloak begun to glow bright enough where it lit the inside of his hood slightly, barely revealing the stripped fur hidden by his hood.

The mutant led Lavender into the ruined house, and the mutant's walk seemed to change. She seemed more relaxed and confident - as though she knew exactly where she was going. She went into one of the rooms through a broken down door, took a saddlebag off a rack by the door, took a couple of personal effects from the dresser and dropped them into the saddlebag before slinging it onto her back. She went back to the door and took a key off the hook, locked the broken door and popped the key into her saddlebag as well. She then looked at Lavender expectantly, ready to go.

Zayoh sat there motionless for a moment before the crystal flared a bright white. Beams of light shot out of the crystal, puncturing the shield around Ponyville. As the shield disintegrated, two orbs of light flew out in opposite directions - a yellow one to the East, a dark blue one to the West, whilst a wave of pink light rippled out in every direction. As the blue orb hit the horizon, the moon rose just a little - peaking out above the hills before slowly descending again. To the East, blinding light poured over the landscape as the sun rose.

The mare could only stare in disbelief.

"...Celestia and Luna..."

Zayoh stood up from his sitting position and looked at the now vacated crystal, his pendant's glow began to dimished as his mind's focus began to shift back to calming the state of itself. "What a peculiar event, nonetheless I hope they are content." He sighed to himself as he rose a hoof to his chin in thought. "Though I wonder of those emotional feelings I felt as they made their escape, the sorrow felt great for the landscape."

As the light in the crystal faded and the sun rose, the mutants rushing up the street stopped in their tracks, then started milling about aimlessly. The alicorn-demon flew to the front and also stopped watching.

"Well done, my little ponies, very well done indeed," the voice that had called itself Resh rang out across the plaza, although this time it was coming from a grey unicorn with a black mane that had emerged from one of the ruined houses, "You did what nopony else could. Poor Celestia. She never could condemn innocent ponies to death, even to save the entire world. She trapped me in here, and destroyed any of my kind that touched the crystal, but you... she could not bear to let you die, so she let you out, and all of my demon host with you. I thank you." Resh bowed mockingly.

"Can I kill them now?" The Alicorn demon asked, the malice evident in its voice.

"Not yet, Relya. I promised them freedom, and freedom they will have," So saying, Resh's horn glowed dark orange, and the bus the university group had arrived on floated out from behind a building enveloped in an orange glow. It had clearly been repaired, with a new engine and tyres as well as having the bodywork beaten back into shape, "I am a demon of my word. I'll even let you take your pets and that freak with you," Resh stared at Zayoh as he spat the word 'freak' with undisguised disgust. He looked over at Lavender, then at Crystal Spark, then swept his eyes over the entire group, "Don't think that I don't know what you are, but I warn you not to try and stop me." Two more alicorns flew in to land next to him, Celestia and Luna - or at least their bodies. The one that appeared to be Luna was glaring hard at Lavender, although it said nothing. The crystal encasing the giant monster shattered, revealing the patchwork of colours that made up its skin to be the skin of dozens of ponies melded into one horrific monstrosity, and it leapt to its hooves with eerie agility and in complete silence - neither a cry of rage or nor even laboured breathing, just the faint squish of pony flesh on a hard surface

"Now run, my little ponies. Run and tell the world of King Resh and his Court of Chaos."

Bramble scrambled into the driver's seat, turning the key in the ignition and sparking the magical engine to life. He didn't say anything, but the look he was giving the assembled 'ponies' made it clear that he didn't trust them in the slightest.

Lavender stared with wide-eyed shock as Resh made his presence known, and boasted about how he was let free by the jewel being activated. A feeling of despair washed over her.

What have we done...?

Before she could reflect more, a new voice sounded in her head. This one was dark, demanding...and it hurt, sending a small throb of pain with every syllable. Her ears lowered and her face scrunched up in pain.

She had become unaware of Bramble diving into the bus.

"W-who are you...?!" She muttered urgently, staggering a bit, "G-get out of there! Your words are sticks and stones y'know!"

The other voice, the one she was accustomed to, seemed to simply begin idle conversation with it.

She shook her head, and the dark voice was silent.

"W-who was that...?" She asked the original voice, hoping for an answer.

Zayoh took a step backward from Resh as he made his appearance, the zebra could sense this demon's malicious nature radiating from him. The corrupted unicorn's eyes then glanced over to Zayoh who felt extremely guilty at the fact that he was the one that activated the crystal that supposedly ushered the return of this demon.

Then the word freak was thrown at him and his ears slouched back still covered by his hood, he had experienced rude spirits before but something about Resh made every word cut at him deeply. "I- I am no..." He begun before being interrupted by the demon again.

Zayoh unsure what to do and feeling responsible for what has happened begun taking slow steps backward toward the bus where bramble already was. Due to his emotional state he was able to expand his aura any further then his own being.

I've been getting more into writing fanfics, mainly MLP since it has such a deep pool of creativity to pull from.

I'm good with character and story concepts, so if you need help with a fanfic or something feel free to Private message me

But don't be hurt if I have to decline if I'm tapped out for a bit. Otherwise I'm fairly good at it just sometimes I have to let my mind subconsciously think of some ideas.
