Guest August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 (edited) Hi there, Pretty simple question.. Do you strive to be an inventor, an entrepreneur or not (and why)? Edited August 8, 2015 by Guest
Steel Accord 6,660 August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 There's a forced dichotomy between the two? Just because I want to be a writer that means I'm barred from reading a book ever again? 2 My ponysona: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/steel-accord-r1970 My AMA thread: http://mlpforums.com/topic/76698-as-steel-me-andor-oc/

Steel Accord 6,660 August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 Probably an inventor. I am not great with coming up with new things, I lack creativity. But to be an inventor you must recognize a need and then apply creative thinking to solve that need. Y'know, actually doing something. It's the same thing between a YouTube "watcher" and a YouTube content creator - let's put it that way.

Steel Accord 6,660 August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 @@Steel Accord, It's more a question of whether or not you actually made a book. No but I'm still in school. I've written a screenplay, but is the fact that it's not shot yet make it less of a valid creation? I've written several short stories and the beginnings of a novel. Still, does that mean I can't be a consumer? I can't go to movies or play video games for inspiration? Hell my last beat sheet was inspired by a video game and it took place in a shared surrealist mental world. To be a consumer is just that, to consume. When you eat, you're a consumer. When you watch MLP, you're a consumer. When you drive a car, you're a consumer. Why does this bar one from being a creator? Or why does a creator have to be an auteur who lives in a log cabin? Indeed, and there's the catch. Y'know, actually doing something. It's the same thing between a YouTube "watcher" and a YouTube content creator - let's put it that way. Well yeah, I'm pretty sure most of us want to make something of our lives. Ruddboy Olaf 10,628 August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 Most likely a consumer. With new stuff being invented everyday,it's hard to find something original to invent.

Steel Accord 6,660 August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 But you'll still agree that there's a huge difference between reading books all throughout your life and actually producing a book? Of course there is, but one can be an avid reader and write a book and someone can also be a professional writer and enjoy reading them. I'm just saying, even creators should be allowed to indulge and consumers shouldn't be seen as inferior just because they don't express productivity in artistic expression. Ribbonfree 2,383 August 7, 2015 Share August 7, 2015 Used to think I could be an innovator of some sort but I just don't think I have the strength of character. I'm probably going to be long out of this fandom before I finally have the maturity and stability to be true to myself. Why would you leave the fandom to gain maturity? Maturity is simply recognizing responsibility and exercising self discipline. And the problems still there when you cant be arsed to do anything about it Almost poetic aint it That's the second step, knowing you have a problem is the first step, then you have to NOT be asked but act on your problem without it being externally addressed. Not saying that either event is related to the other, I just have my own problems that I don't see being resolved any time soon. You say you lack "strength of character" well that can be fixed, that's not insurmountable. Well most great personal challenges rarely are quick fixes. I know I still struggle with self-discipline but it's like climbing a mountain. You can't scale the whole thing in one day. 1 My ponysona: http://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/steel-accord-r1970 My AMA thread: http://mlpforums.com/topic/76698-as-steel-me-andor-oc/
Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,730 August 8, 2015 Share August 8, 2015 I am more of a consumer. Life is much simpler that way for me and anything I could create is not exactly up to par. Unless my signatures and stuff count but even those I don't think are all THAT great. So I am more of a consumer than anything. I am fine with that really.
Pastel 7,630 August 8, 2015 Share August 8, 2015 Yeah everyone is a consumer, the question should rather be "Do you strive to be an inventor?". And yeah I have a lot of imagination and I've created a few things, I don't want to only be a consumer.
Troblems 5,619 August 8, 2015 Share August 8, 2015 I have a more literal response to this question. My husband is an inventor. I've helped him develop several products beyond the one linked in the video below, but this is the one we're working on right now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phFJ-UhuLto So for me, it's definitely inventor. 3 I got an extra hour in the ballpit
