Why I hate Creepypastas (No graphic description)

Ok... 

I hate Creepypastas because they don't pay attention to the characters. I'm going to use Rainbow Factory as an example. Rainbow Dash is the element of LOYALTY. Suddenly betraying Scoots is WAY out of her character. Unless she's corrupted by Discord, there is no way she would do this. And Cupcakes. Pinkie Pie would never do that to Rainbow. Pinkie Pie only does things when she wants her friends to be happy. Wait a second... why do people kill off Rainbow so much... that's for another post.

 

What my point is before you write a creepypasta or a fanfic, pay attention to the characters of the ponies you're writing about. For Rainbow Factory, you could

have used Lightning somepony from Wonderblots Academy, she seems like somepony who would do it. Or Cupcakes maybe... err... an OC?

 

I'm not completely against creepypastas, I just don't like the fact that the characters are, well, out of character!

Like Lightning Dust would do it if we strictly use showcanon.

 

One of the primary things that made the fandom undergo the huge bloating it did during the S2-S3 era was the enormous amount of traction and interest alternate universes and character interpretations developed. It's a part of any fandom really, either subtle or massive twisting of a character concept to allow fan works to flourish. In this case, is it mostly unbelievable? Yes. But there's a market for it, as we see by Fimfiction stats. Boys love their grimdark. By no means is it guaranteed to be well written or especially justified, but there you go. You don't have to like it, but you do have to acknowledge that it is going to exist.

I don't think that Rainbow Factory or even Cupcakes can be considered as creepypastas. They are Fanfics or short stories which sometimes show an alternate universe or a total different personality of a character. Well, Rainbow Factory is something I can say I liked, cuz it's very well written, dispite the fact that RD's character has nothing to do with the original. It's a twisted story but can be enjoyable and the the thrill factor is real. Now, Cupcakes is just bad, people only like it cuz it's gory but the write style, the story and the characters are badly written and the whole thing is just unenjoyable. There are good dark stories around there but it's not enough for a good story to be gory or frightening, how you write it is a very important criteria.

It’s a thing that some need to confirm their apparent badassery. Little do they know a devolving psychopony isn’t exactly badass. She doesn’t even drop good loot when you punch her in the face. Buckin 10 bits enemy.

 

On a related note: As others have said, these things aren’t creepypastas, just shock pieces with too much red.
