a comment in a different thread sparked some emotion in me, which may have led the discussion off topic, so I'm putting my response here:

 

 

 

Well the Breezies basically were the Flutterponies

 

no, no they weren't. Breezies are tiny and lack an essential attribute common to all flutter ponies: Utter Flutter. If anything, pegasus ponies are more like flutters because of their 'wing power' 

 

It's not that I particularly dislike the Breezies, but they are NOT flutter ponies. Flutter ponies were powerful and, as far as I know, had the longest story of the show (End of Flutter Valley was, I think, 6 episodes long) I also understand that there are no flutters in FiM probably because pegasus ponies fill that role and flutters were originally isolationist as all get-out anyway.

 

anyway, I wonder if anyone else has opinions of old vs new. We can pit things like Smooze and Tirek against their past selves. Or we can compare old vs new Thunder Cats and He-Man. What else was remade? what succeeded?
