InsertUsernameHere 149 September 20, 2015 Share September 20, 2015 I really need some equipment for digital drawing. Like an Ipad, or is there a different tablet out there specifically for drawing? I would assume I'd need a stylus as well, and some software on my PC. Any suggestions?
Troblems 5,617 September 20, 2015 Share September 20, 2015 @@InsertUsernameHere, I've moved your thread to the Visual Art section of Creative Resources in Octavia's Hall. This is the section for general art tips, and is a bit more fitting than Life Advice. I also edited the title, because the last one wasn't terribly descriptive. SilverHeart 741 September 20, 2015 Share September 20, 2015 Usually people use a Wacom tablet for drawing. You can find a link below. There are other companies I'm sure but as far as I know they pretty much have the market cornered. Pen Tablet / Digitizer Tablet | Wacom Silver Heart, Lapis, Mirror Image-My OC Ponies. Blique 211 September 20, 2015 Share September 20, 2015 I use a Wacom tablet to draw. My current one is the latest and greatest Intuos Pro (medium), but I also have an Intuos3 (large) from ages ago that works fine, aside from some scratches (but a screen protector fixes that right up). A lot of artists have small tablets since they're a little cheaper, but if you're planning on using it a lot, medium/large tablets are recommended lest you get carpal tunnel syndrome. Make sure to get a tablet with "pressure sensitivity"! Some of the older/cheaper models don't have it, and it's really important to most artists who draw. Also check to see if the tablet pen comes with a functional "eraser". Both of mine have them, but I think Bamboo tablets are known for being eraser-less (cheap though). It's not as huge a deal as pressure sensitivity, but not having it may reduce speed/efficiency. My Intuos Pro pen started malfunctioning a year ago and I had to stop using the eraser, but replacement pens are $70, such a pain! I adapted to not using an eraser, but I'll probably buy a new pen soon after all. Here's a list of free art programs that you can use. I personally use Photoshop since it has so many features and effects, and because I know it so well at this point, but a lot of other programs are perfectly great if all you want to do is draw. 1 I make digital art, traditional art, scarves, and crafts. http://mlpforums.com/topic/65309-bliques-ponies/
