planning Frozen in Time [Adventure/SoL - requires heavy fleshing out]

Okie dokie. This is a basic idea for now - if enough ponies are interested, I'll write up formal rules later and start working on having actual roles. I do need some assistance fleshing out this idea, so feel free to help me!

 

In the heart of the mountains of Equestria's frozen North, a troop of adventurers stumble across a small, isolated village, draped by years of ice and snow, and seemingly blanketed by a permanent Winter. The ponies there quite literally appear frozen in time - suspended in silence, they remain poised like a garden of statues carved from ice. Disturbingly, they find other squads of adventurers seemingly also having fallen prey to spell of the town. Determined, the group of ponies decide to try to free this frosted village and the ponies trapped within, but can they do so before they themselves become just another piece in this icy world?

 

Help points:

• Why are they in the mountains? Stumbled across village during other expedition/grew curious based off stories.
• How did Celestia/Luna overlook this problem village entirely?
• What caused all the ponies to freeze?

I'm tempted to make it something related to the windigos? Possibly, the town's leader/community became corrupted by some force/some evil, and windigos froze the town as in the episode. Then the fear of the adventurers could drive them to grow apart from each other, leading to them becoming trapped also.

• How do they solve this problem?

There will be a posting order or something of the like.

Looking at your setting and "Help points", it sounds like you could more or less draw from the experiences of Our Town from the Season 5 premier.

If you accept non-pony OCs, I could use Stormcloud for this.  

 

Personally, a theme I would include in this would be something like not being able to let go.  Whatever happened in the past, the denizens just can't let go of it and that, combined with some sort of dark magic, has them trapped in their frozen state.

 

As for why these adventurers are there, perhaps they were racing and got separated.  Perhaps they were working to overcome a mountain-climbing challenge.  Or perhaps they heard rumors of such a village and decided to see if it's true.

maybe they are rescuers, sent to get another party, or maybe there is a treasure chest with something they all want, and came across it, and decided to help out. 

 

Maybe they didn't know about it, until they got a disturbance or a distress signal

 

going on a limb here, isn't a very good idea, an ice cockatrice, reference to stare master episode, but like I said, a dumb idea

What exactly do you mean by letting go? Also, the idea of just... Wanting to check it out seems like something that could work.
