I don't like DRM and always online, but are we considering Steam a form of DRM here?

We see more and more Physical PC versions requiring you to have a Steam account.

But Steam really isn't a "restrictive" DRM. You can play offline and it ensures if you lose the disk after deinstalling a game you can still get it back. Valve also has stated if Steam EVER goes under they will release a final patch that gives you all of your games.

Steam To a certain extent enforces DRM, With Region Locking being quite brutal especially with steam gifts. Buts its a lot better than the majority of retail stores like EB games and Game stop and origin.

I like the premise of GoG But I've never done anything apart from buy the Fallout anthology off them :)

Region locks like pal and other continent stuff are not so much I worry. I know it killed consoles like the Sega Saturn, but that's because the Director of Sega of America was a narrow-minded asshole who didn't give a shit about gamers. That's why Sony fired him before he became "The Satan of Saturn". Sega's own f***ing fault.

I'm from a different generation. I lived with the idea that you just buy, install and play the game without other crap around. And if you lose your disc you're on your own and you have to search for it or buy a new one.

I know you could play offline, but I don't like the forced Steam membership when you buy a physical game. And that's really worrying even after the MGS5 and Fallout 4 Disc situation.

I'd rather have "Compatible with Steam Account" than "Requires Steam Account".

This is the entire problem with EA. Dragon age,Simcity and Battlefield all require Origin to function and that is the lowest of the low.

Look at the damage Sim City's DRM caused. And I agree with you about origin (just like all these DRM servers).

I´m glad we have alternatives like GOG.

Just played Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and it's really good. I hope that Bethesda will make a new third person adventure game like Adventures one day.
