Twilight's treatment of Discord- Justified or Not?

Discord was ruined as a character a long time ago.

 

He should never have been "redeemed" because he's still a miserable person and regularly exploits and abuses his "friends" for mild entertainment. Twilight treats him that way because she doesn't consider him a friend, nor should she.

 

The idiotic medal exchange giving Twilight the key of friendship is a sick joke.

In light of Saturday's upcoming episode, I wanted to bring up something I've noticed in past Discord episodes. Ever since his reformation, Twilight has ALWAYS been the first one to get all antagonistic towards Discord at even the slightest possibility of him causing trouble, even if whatever happened wasn't 100% his fault! Take for instance, the incident with the Smooze. RIGHT after he showed up with it, Twilight got up in his face about it! And this was WELL BEFORE the Smooze started noming on all the shiny objects it could find!

 

Yes, Discord has a habit of causing trouble, but in cases like that, he clearly didn't intend for the Smooze to get out of hand like that! He just wanted to bring a guest along to make Fluttershy jealous and win her back (in his mind, naturally). But even outside that incident, Twilight (and most of the other ponies, but Twilight seems often emphasized in a lot of cases) treats him like shit just on principal and doesn't even give him a chance! And she's supposed to be the Princess of Friendship, for Celestia's sake! What a hypocrite! This week's episode hopefully will address this fact given the plot synopsis, and I really hope that, regardless of whatever shenanigans Discord's up to this time, Twilight needs to realize that she's not entirely innocent here, either.

Discord should count himself lucky he wasn't executed for his crimes against Equestria.

 

So yes, Twilight's treatment of him is justified.

Well considering forgiveness doesn't work on a metric scale, I feel that the ep up until the end when Twilight and co went after Discord was frankly a really good example of Twilight getting her just desserts, but them turning the table felt unjustified and weak.  

 

If we look back, Discord has all, be it in his own chaotic way, has been trying to make friends with Twilight and given her a few lesson on friendship that old sunny and moon butt could not teach her do to reason. I feel at this time considering Twilight is a rather smart cookie, that she should know that Discord will always be a bit of a wild card. He will always be snarky and looking to get under her 45 degree angle skin since her love for all things that is law and order goes against his very nature. Its why MNFbKD had Celestia and Discord on the same side since Tia does enjoy a bit of chaos now and then, where as Twilight is to much of a lawful good to think of anything that doesn't follow her list. 

 

This episode makes for a nice come back since it does show that for someone that is a control freak like Twilight, that frankly her friends as well as she not only have different interest, but have lives somewhat outside of each other. There will always be inside jokes between sets of friends, and one simply has to learn to deal with the fact that one won't always be in on it. Everything up until the end felt organic and even Twilight's little melt down was a nice reminder that Twilight still has a lot to learn. 

 

However this frankly was ruined by the ending with them turning on discord, since honestly what were the ponies expecting since twilight more or less freaked on Discord? For him not to be a bit snide? I mean, come on.

 

So at this point, I really think Twilight kind of needs to grow up and learn to deal with the fact that discord is not going to treat her with kid gloves. Holding a grudge about what he did isn't going to help anyone, and frankly it is a missing opportunity for her, since she is someone who really needs a bit of chaos in her life to help her grown.  

Oh yes, Celestia LOVES a little bit of chaos once in a while, ESPECIALLY if it concerns the Grand Galloping Galla. Heck, she's admitted TWICE that she likes it whenever wacky stuff happens at the Galla just because it's otherwise really freaking boring! Why else would she let Discord get off mostly scot-free re: the Smooze incident? They should just put a warning sign up for every GGG event saying "Warning: Shenanigans WILL ensue. Celestia gets bored otherwise. And you don't WANT her to get bored, now do you?"
