visual art WIP: Velvet

I'm not sure if this counts as "pony" or not since... meh you know why.
 

Anyway, I want to draw all of the playable characters up to get back into drawing -- one version that follows the design faithfully and a copy that edits them in a manner I think is an improvement -- but I'm incredibly lazy and lack energy so I haven't made much progress.

 

This is still a WIP because I want to do more detail on the hooves, and then I need to crisp up the lines 'n' all that, and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Really awesome drawing of Velvet. Two things you should consider, though; add some line-weight to your drawing, and maybe fix up her muzzle a bit. Looks too wide, imo.

The line weight is precisely the next step after detailing the hooves a bit more. In the shaping stage it's much faster to let my program auto-generate the lines, but this forces them to be a static width and generally look artificial and underwhelming. You can see my final lines in other pictures on my DeviantArt, Elytra being my favorite.

 

I've been making her nose steadily smaller over several revisions. One problem is that there isn't a lot of official art of her yet other than Faust's concept sketches -- which being concepts, vary wildly in the details of the character. She has a fat cow nose in some of the earlier ones, and to be honest, I prefer the larger nose because it gives her more shape and distinction from a My Little Pony, compared to the itty bitty dot nose.

 

I suppose I could make her nose smaller for "accuracy" and them embiggen it again in the edit I'll be doing later...
