Let us all bow in the glory that is the Writer of the S5 Finale.

 

For freaking REALZIES! This guy nailed it, hard. From fan call backs to minor fangasim references (look it! Octavia and Vinyl are standing together). But in all honesty, it was the direction of the AU futures and the development of Starlight.

 

Those futures rocked my celestia damned mind, especially Sombras (but I ranted about how good and accurate that portrayal of war was in another thread).

 

Starlight's portrayal and growth in this episode felt one of the most natural ever (short of Sunset's). Just look at the scene where she is nervously pacing out in the hall awaiting what is about to happen to her. She didn't run away, she didn't fight back, it felt so..real.

 

This man deserves credit and more episodes to his name in S6!

Leap of Faith and Friendship Games were underwhelming, but his other stories were pretty damn fine entries. I do prefer Simple Ways and Bloom and Gloom over TCR, but I have a preference for slice of life stories.

What I most like about Josh is that as you progress through his episodes, you can clearly see his writing improve in quality and become more and more enjoyable.

 

Going from something like Leap Of Faith to Bloom And Gloom is impressive for a writer and then straight after, we get to see him really shine writing a whole two-parter finale that really rocked.

Yea I was trying to guess who the writer might be and at first I thought M.A Larson but Josh Haber likes to incorporate adventure in his works so I thought maybe it was him but why would they give him such an important job. I was glad I was wrong when i saw his name on the credits because he did such an amazing job.

 

Friendship games was really good too but not as good as Rainbow rocks. I saw in a panel he said he only viewed 5 episodes of mlp before he began writing but even so he's got the interaction between characters down to a T.

 

I hope he does more episodes.
