Why like Octavia?

So here's the question: 

There are many fans out there who have developed a strong liking for these background characters, such as Octavia. My question is: Why? Why do you like her? What makes her special?

 

And on that note, Why do you like any other "Slice of Life" characters? What about them drew you to them? Their talent? Their design? Their voice? etc.. 

 

I'm looking for educated answers, not just "Because she's amazing, duh"

Well it might be that in the episode they managed to make a rather good scene using both New and old music Idea's that don't usually work together.

 

As for the others a lot of people like new faces in all kinds of media with all of the different types of personality's and cultures, people like to know they aren't just there because they need someone there (despite the fact they are). It makes a good atmosphere having different people in places as there is a lot of different people in real life and just knowing a little about them will make you appreciate the atmosphere all that much more.

Well, the answer is of course subjective and whatever answers you will be will be varied.

 

In any case with her appearance in "The Best Night Ever" it was largely her design, poise, posture with her instrument, and facial expression that really captivated a segment of the fandom. That alone helped to spawn a large amount fan-created content and various head-canons. It is from these delicately and time-spent head-canons where fan's attachment to these background ponies grow.

 

Granted this may vary from person to person.

Well, for me personally, Octavia is a pony that is involved with and plays classical music and the way she dresses, her accent, her behaviour, politeness and manners show that she represents those with enthusiasm in classical music.

 

Basically, I can relate to her in terms of the type of songs I'm mostly into, which would be classical.

 

Even my OC/Ponysona has a lot to do with classical music (classical organ music also counts). He loves playing the organ and is good at it, hence why his cutie mark is a small principal pipe from a pipe organ.

Most of the background characters that I like, I like because what the fandom has made them into.  I wouldn't have given much thought about Octavia, and MOST (Not all, Vinyl and Derpy   Rule) of the background characters.

I do not Include Episode 100 for my judgement of these characters. (Loved the episode tho)

I like your answer a lot:D I was just trying to logically find out why a person would like a character that doesn't have much to them besides a couple episodes, but I do see now that it's because you, and other fans, relate to her c:

I also really like this answer, because that's what I initially thought. That fans had made this character into something when it started with the bare minimum.

I guess I like their character designs and how they are portrayed in fan works like comics and animations.
