Daring_Do 552 December 11, 2015 Share December 11, 2015 Seriously if Waddle is a minister that makes me rethink some stuff. I was going to have him as a character in a fic I'm planning. But then how do we do a minister character if there's no sign of religion or churches?! This probably falls under "taking the show too seriously". I could just drop him totally if need be, but I'd like to see if there's another way.
Jammo 986 December 11, 2015 Share December 11, 2015 (edited) Given how frequently they cite the mortal, harmable Celestia's name as an oath (Sweet Celestia) it could be seen as either hero worship, dogmatic conviction to a monarchy or even a personality cult. The mysticism and myth of Equestria does tie into ponies lifestyles but tends to lean more to the esoteric style of spirituality. I think this is because what's unknown is unknown but a lot of the questions people on Earth try to answer are absolutes in Equestria. There is magic, miraculous things like ascension and celestial planes are confirmed to exist so a framework of belief exists because ponies see it. MasterSpark95 430 December 12, 2015 Share December 12, 2015 Well technically they're Christian since they now have an entire album dedicated to Christmas songs. Fun fact: Christmas was originally a pagan holiday: http://www.history.com/topics/christmas/history-of-christmas This thread is interesting, but I really don't think that we should take "the show too seriously" here, since this thread already is kind of controversial. | Poet, Writer, and artist | Cartoon, anime and Disney lover | Video game lover | "We know what we are, but know not what we may be." -William Shakespeare "I can't change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination." - Jimmy Dean
