ManaMinori 4,145 January 17, 2016 Share January 17, 2016 A woman who I've worked with a few times said that she has put together a sunshine box - a small chest that she kees assortment of things that just make her smile when she's in a not so sunny mood- and she advised I put together a sunshine box of my own. I want to, since it seems like a keen idea, and me- always sufferring from depression- certainly needs it. Thing is, I only have an encouraging note from her in my box. Most everything that makes me smile exists online. Ponies, anime, Pokmon, and Web comics. I really, REALLY want something tangible from a (now deleted) deviantart webcomic that was called "Cafe au Lait", maybe a bookmark or keychain of the kitty characters from it, to put in my starting sunshine box, but commissioners are expensive, and I don't have Paypal. What would you guys suggest I do? Does anyone have sunshine boxes? What's in yours? 2 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
Admiral Regulus 2,769 January 17, 2016 Share January 17, 2016 Download all the online content that you can, and place that in a folder titled "Sunshine Box" on your desktop. I don't have any such thing, but I can see the appeal of it. If you think that would work for you, then I'd say go for it. 4 Tumblr
Scrubbed user 3,416 January 17, 2016 Share January 17, 2016 I quite like the idea of a sunshine box. While I think mine would be digital, I think having a webpage with links would work best for me.

Scrubbed user 3,416 January 18, 2016 Share January 18, 2016 (edited) all the links would drive me nuts, though. Instead of just using a URL or a shortened link, I would just use links with text instead, like what you use in your signature. Something small enough where I can carry it on me when I need that sunshine. Detritus 258 January 18, 2016 Share January 18, 2016 I think I've seen clear plastic keychains that you can customize by printing out your own image and putting it inside. Maybe something like that could work.

frenchie1995 73 January 19, 2016 Share January 19, 2016 I absolutely love this idea! I have never heard of this but I will be making one of these for myself too. Maybe for your love of ponies you could get a small plushie, like key chain size, of your favorite pony. I am sure they have small Pokemon plushies or key chains as well. I do not know much about anime, but maybe to fulfill your love of anime and comics you could get a few comic books from your local comic book store. Thank you for this idea and I hope you are able to find your sunshine!
Sooshi 41 January 19, 2016 Share January 19, 2016 Perhaps try getting some buttons? Or even a small minibook for collecting stickers? Just commission stickers. I know a few artists who do custom stickers for 20-40$ last time I checked.
Merion 783 January 19, 2016 Share January 19, 2016 (edited) I do have a sunshine box! Well, it's more of a sunshine scrapbook, but it still! I'd strongly encourage you to start your own, these things DO WONDERS! (Trust me, I'm an engineer I suffer from depression too X3) And what do I keep in mine? Things that bring fond memories! Train tickets from that time when my boyfriend and I went on a trip. A postal stamp I harvested from one of my mom's care packages. A candy wrapper with a lame joke written on it - I got the candy from a very kind elderly man I once worked with. A goldfish-shaped sticker I found lying on the ground on a lovely sunny day... That kind of seemingly insignificant stuff. ♥ Also, every night I FORCE myself to write down at least one good thing that happened to me during the day. Even the most insignificant thing like "I saw a cute dog today." It really helps you focus on the bright side of life. The things you put in your sunshine box/notebook don't have to be costly. You don't even have to buy new stuff to make you happy. Look around, the things worth putting in your box may already be there within your reach. After all, It's not about the objects you put in there, but the positive vibes you get from them. Detritus 258 January 19, 2016 Share January 19, 2016 are they bulky? They sound bulky I seem to remember they were pretty small, or at least no larger than most keychains. The one I saw was maybe about an inch and a half on each side, and the depth was maybe a quarter inch or so. Just a rough guess.

After all, It's not about the objects you put in there, but the positive vibes you get from them. nice knowing someone here has a sunshine box, too. Even if it is more of a scrapbook. I like the idea of writing something good that happened every day, to be reminded of the silver linings when every day seems dark. I'll try to start being more conscious of looking. Yeah, I know it's not about the object, but the sunshine vibes it gives, but in the case of the webcomic I really enjoy (it always gives me good feels, even though the main page has been deleted for years), to the point where I still try to maintain fanpages for it, and write fanfics of its characters. But I still would like something tangible related to it, for my sunshine box. The anime, pokemon, pony stuff I could easily buy at any store, since there are certain characters in each that give me warm fuzzies (Sunset Shimmer, Eeveelutions, etc), but the webcomic- being lacking any official merchandise, is a lot harder. 1 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
