Is G1 Ponyland canon in G4?

This far distant land that Scorpan and Tirek came from... could they be referring to Ponyland?

 

Tirek and Scorpan looks like exiles or nomads with no home, in G1 Midnight Castle, Tirek living in the Midnight Castle with many servants (one including the G1 Spike). It's possible after their defeat they left on their travels towards Equestria to steal magic from the ponies.

It's possible...come to think of it, G1 Ponyland could've been where the ancient pony tribes could've moved from (See "Hearth's Warming Eve") before they traveled, found a more suitable land, and called it Equestria. Ancient unicorn ponies (Princess Platinum) DID have a castle...could've originally been g1's Paradise Estate,

I have heard various fan headcannons that state that Ponyland is either where the ponies originally came from or that Equestria is in fact is Ponyland give or take a few thousand years later. Either one is plausible as migrations and nations/geographical locations changing names actually has a fairly long history. Turkey was once called Anatolia, France was once called Gaul, Iraq was once called Mesopotamia, and Iran was once known as Persia. The question would be what the reason would be, since the ponies split into three tribes "Ponyland" could well have been lost to history or perhaps may have been named Equestria as a sort of "fresh start" so to speak. Partitions occasionally happen as well such as Pakistan splitting from India in the late 40's due to religious differences between Hindus and Muslims and a similar split due to cultural differences and various other reasons among ponies would be a plausible explanation for the partition of Ponyland into separate nation states and them later re unifying.

I'm really thinking that G1 and G4 are completely interlaced with each other. Only thing missing: humans in Equestria.

As it stands G1 is not canon to G4 at all. Add to that; if you count the comics as canon then the kingdom of Tirek and Scorpan was covered in FIENDship is Magic #2, and it was not Ponyland at all. Actually I hope that is adapted to canon at some point, but I'm not holding my breath.

To add to that, while they are definitely siblings in G4 with Scorpan's mother being the queen and Tirek's father the king, Scorpan was technically a human in G1 who was transformed into that creature.

 

So yeah we have too many complications for that to really fit.

not really, i wish it was though, but considering they changed how tirek was defeated and changed how it all happened i think they kinda missed their chance to tie it in with G1,in G1 scorpan was a human who had been turned into a monster  and he got turned back into a human in the end,  would be kinda hard to tie them together because that would make applejack like 1000 years old LOL
