Hasbro should partner with one of the big media companies

Someone suggested this in the Hasbro-Mattel merger thread, and I think it's a great idea. The two I have in mind are Warner Bros. and Universal, because they seem to be more lax with their control. Warner Bros. is the most logical because MLP will become more popular on Cartoon Network.

They should stay the hell away from Viacom or ESPECIALLY Disney.

While a merger with a company like Warner Bros. could further popularize MLP, a merger with a company like Mattel would be a tad concerning for me, as that would basically create a huge toy monopoly almost. I would prefer Hasbro continue doing what it is doing now as they are pretty chillaxed currently.

I think Hasbro's fine as they are, but if anything, I wouldn't mind seeing them merge with Nintendo.

Think about the possibilities of what Mario or Zelda action figures that the partnership "Nintendo Hasbro Holdings" could do. Sadly, it ain't happening.

They Do, their channel (in the USA)  is a partnership with Discovery Networks,  one of the largest, cable media networks , hence the Name, "Discovery Family". They also manufacture toys under license for both Viacom, who owns nickelodeon, and Disney.

Internationally, Network Distribution of Hasbro's Shows is handled through Turner Brodcasting, Time-Warner's Network Brodcasting Division.

So, yeah, they have agreements and partnerships with pretty much all the major players.

People seem to underestimate how large a company Hasbro truely is. They have a monopoly on board games (no pun intended), and they are currently the largest Toy Manufacturer in the world. Along with pretty much nearly every board game brand under their belt, (like Parker Brothers, Milton Bradley, Selchow & Righter, and others), and popular toy lines like NERF, Super Soaker, Play-Doh, as well as their action figure/doll lines based on Both their properties and others, like Disney (including Marvel Comics and Star Wars) and Nickelodeon  They also own American Greetings, the Second largest Greeting Card maker under Hallmark.    Sure, their In-House Animation Studio is relatively new, and they are relatively small on this front, but they are still a HUGE company.

Its a possibility, considering the slump that Mattel is experiencing, if things continue like that for Mattel, Hasbro may be able to just outright buy them, either way, Hasbro will be the Controlling force regardless.

Well, there is the issue of them if merging becoming large enough to start absorbing other, smaller companies and becoming a monopoly.

And they will also have the power to go after non-profit fanworks even more aggressively than before with both of their resources combined with an even greater lack of accountability when going after those who haven't violated fair use.

This is an issue that is rampant on Youtube with Channel Awesome, I Hate Everything, and that stunt The Fine Brothers recently tried to pull-so even more MLP and Transformer related content that they do not directly profit from in some way are likely to be taken down, even if it fails within fair use due to lack of accountability on their part.

Essentially, I think corporate entities like Hasbro already have more than enough power to do whatever they want without consequence in regards to things like false DMCAs, despite not being as large as some others.
