Salleria nodded. "I'll watch from. The roofs. I'll swoop in if the situation goes out of claw."

She raised a talon. "However, you could simply bring Swift along with you, if he allows you to bring an escort, that is." She suggested. "I doubt you'd need to scout the place much. The layout is really simple."

@,

Out of Claw? Why not use a species neutral term? Swift turned towards the griffon again. "Sounds like you know the place in question. Care to share that knowledge with the rest of us? If, as I suspect, it is indeed a 'come alone' scenario, I'd like to know the best place to park the carriage so that I can observe the proceedings from there if need be. The more we know about what we're getting into the better, and if we don't have to go anywhere to learn it all the better." He turned back to the zebra. "They know we're here, it isn't too far off to think that we are being watched currently or that we will be followed when we leave."

"Unfortunately, Swift is right. They will likely be watching our every move. It would be difficult to do anything without them knowing, and while I don't think Steel wants me dead just yet, I doubt the same goes for the two of you. If we stick together, it would perhaps lessen the danger for you two. And please, Salleria, if you know anything of the Waldorf, tell us."

Salleria grunted, leaning back and closing her eyes in thought. "It's this big fancy hotel located some 2 kilometres west from here. They don't just let anybody in: you'd need to obey certain dress codes"

She Traced lines in the tablet trying to indicate the general shape of the building.

"You'd have to strike a lottery just to stay a night there, let alone have lunch if your apartment" she gestured around the room. "Is any indication"

"Then I suppose I need a change of wardrobe. It seems that Steel wishes to make a show of his power if he were to invite me to such a place. What is the layout of the restaurant? Are there any high windows that could give you a view inside, or if need be, an escape route?"

Salleria snorted. "If I were you, I wouldn't bother asking so many questions. If Steel wanted you dead, you would be. So long as you don't do anything stupid while you're there, you'll be just fine."

She stood up from her seat. "I'll be taking my leave for now. I'll meet up with you guys tomorrow."

Swift turned to the zebra after the griffon had left. "She knows more than she's letting on. I don't think she's particularly concerned with your safety or that this goes smoothly. I don't trust her more than I don't trust you." Swift moved to a window. "If you want I can go check out the place tonight, see if we can learn something useful about this place."

"Walk with caution. I can't say for certain how much danger you are in, but it looms over you. Scout out a vantage point to observe the meeting in the meantime," Janeri said as he got up to put his now empty tea cup in the kitchen.

@@Illiad Easle,

He then said to Swift, "She seems too... lax about the situation. I would rather use more caution than what she suggests. As for scouting the Waldorf, I would bring too much suspicion."

With a shrug he turned from the window. "I don't have much experiences driving a carriage but I'm sure I can figure it out by tomorrow. You want me to stay here and guard you just in case? Or do you trust your luck to survive the night? Either way I think I'll go scout out the building soon, maybe invest in a crossbow while I'm out." He said as he made his way to the door. "Really the question is do you want me to come back here tonight or should I come back tomorrow?"

"It is not myself who I fear for, but rather you and Salleria. I doubt Steel would kill me before the meeting, but you two are potential wild cards. Your deaths would definitely benefit him. Tread carefully, is what I'm saying. You may come back here after you scout the Waldorf, or stay wherever you like. I would say you stay close though, as an attempt on your life near me would be too risky for him."

Swift gave a smirk as he opened the door. "I've got a safe place to stay, If you aren't worried then I won't intrude on your space any longer tonight. I'll be back a few hours before we need to leave to share what I find."

With that he left, securing his wing-blades to his sides he took wing towards the Waldorf

As soon as Swift left, Janeri picked up his phone and put in a few calls. One to reserve a carriage rental for tomorrow, and the other to order a suit. He then put on a black coat and pulled his hat a little closer to his face, and left his apartment. He made a trip to downtown to pick the suit up, and was back home quickly.

Janeri pulled some bottles and herbs from the shelves of the kitchen, and began to mix them into a strange brew. After a short time, he was left with a small vial of bright green liquid. This was a powerful potion, which would incapacitate in small doses, but kill in larger ones.

Salleria kept an eye on Janeri in her apartment late into the night, lounging on the same roof as before. This was the time at which Steel's lackeys worked. Well, most of the time, anyway.

She observed the Zebra as she went about her work brewing the potion.

'Green potion. I don't know the ingredients' Salleria mused. 'Typically, green could indicate stamina, or poison. Still preparing for a getaway, eh?'

She sighed, turning away and opening the roof access, trotting down the stairs into the darkness.

Swift flew by the Waldorf, it was certainly a more impressive building than the griffon had let on, large and mostly stone exterior. The picture windows were mostly for the rooms of the hotel portion. The restaurant had small, decorative windows that did not allow much in the way of a vantage to look in. No doubt he knew this when he picked it as a location. Knowledge acquired, he took wing towards the mid-scale apartment building he had reserved a room in the night before. An interior room with no windows, while not the best if cornered, made him sure he wasn't being watched.

Janeri made a point of getting as much sleep as he could before the meeting. He would need to be ready and alert for anything. The carriage rental was outside his apartment by noon, and now he just needed to wait for Salleria and Swift. He had bought another suit, this one cheap, for Swift to wear.

@@crispy fries,

Swift awoke and ate breakfast without much fanfare. He packed up his saddlebags with the things he might need for this excursion including a pair of mirrored sunglasses and a miniature crossbow a distant relative gave him, it wasn't as powerful as a full sized crossbow, but it was a bit more accurate and still potentially lethal at short range. He took care in securing his room before he took wing back to the zebra's apartment.

For his final preparation, Janeri took the potion he had brewed the night before, and poured some into a small vial. He took a bottle of bright pink liquid and carefully mixed it in, turning it a yellowish hue. Janeri repeated this process two more times.

He looked out the window and saw swift approaching, and unlocked the door in anticipation.

Swift was quick in his entry, quickly evaluating the apartment for signs that anything was different. Not immediatly noticing anything out of the ordinary he turned towards the zebra. "Hello again, anything happen while I was out? I got a look at the Waldorf and it is certainly an impressive building if not hard to spy into."

"I have been undisturbed so far. Here, put this on," Janeri said as he tossed Swift the cheap suit he had bought, "The chauffeur must dress the part."

Janeri took one of the three vials he had prepared and handed it to Swift. "This is a little something I have brewed up. If you give it a good shake and throw it, it will release a cloud of gas that will incapacitate whoever breathes it. An extra precaution. Be careful, as too long spent in the gas may be fatal," he said.

Swift eyed the suit and potions with a certain degree of suspicion, "Duly noted. I'll try to use it strategically." he tucked it carefully under his wing with his hidden wingblade. "I hope the suit fits well, it would be unseemly to be a chauffeur in an ill fitting suit."

Salleria waited patiently outside the apartment on the street below, clearly visible through the window. She held a black umbrella that provided shade from the blazing morning sun.

In the event that she makes eye contact with Janeri or Swift, she would nod to signal that she was ready.

Janeri saw Salleria outside the window. He waved to her, and gestured for her to come up to the apartment. Janeri had an extra vial of his potion he intended to give to Salleria, and throwing it down to her would be too much of a risk. She would also need to know what Swift had found out when he scouted the Waldorf.

@@crispy fries,

Swift noticed the griffon when the zebra waved to her. Her apparent disinterest to join them did not improve his opinion of her. He moved back from the window and took the seat he had taken the day before. "I was only able to observe the building from outside, there aren't too many windows in the restaurant so if you do have to make an escape it would most likely be through the front doors. He definitely chose this place for a reason, and I wouldn't be surprised if your table cannot see through any of the windows. From what I've gathered, you'll be on your own as long as your in there."

Salleria sighed, closing the umbrella, and flying up to the apartment's window. She opened it up and climbed in. She didn't understand why they couldn't just discuss in the carriage itself. It wasn't like they were planning an infiltration mission.

"I suppose we're going over the plan one. More. Time.?" She asked, gritting her beak.
