Salleria eyed the detective. No that she though of it, he could actually be useful.

"The place is going o be filled with Steel's finest whether it's set to be a trap or not." she explained, beginning to lose her patience.

"Follow me" she invited. "I'm on the way there anyway.", beginning to run to the steel tower.

Meanwhile, in Steel's office, a bright glow engulfed the room.

'We don't have much time... I can't afford to wait for Swift now.' She grit her beak.

( I'm assuming the artifact takes a while to charge )

@,

"I sure do appreciate your cooperation. Lead the way," the detective said, gesturing with his gun, "So tell me, what's Steel's game? Why does he want that Zebra so bad? He's not somepony important, and I don't think he's some deadbeat who didn't pay his gambling debts either."

Salleria shook her head. "He doesn't need the Zebra anymore. You have worse things to worry about."

She arrived at the back entrance of the Steel tower, opening the door with a keypad. An ornate corridor was behind it, with a stairwell leading down on the right.

"Janeri's down the stairs. You can't miss the door. The room's pure white."

She paused.

"Might want to bring some food along with you."

Finished, she continued on her path, walking down the hallway towards the main lobby.

"Now excuse me while I prevent the apocalypse."

The detective followed Salleria's instructions, and found Janeri, tied to a chair.

"I thought I had died, he said," as Brick Trace untied him, "What happened to the artifact? Where is Salleria?"

"The griffon?" the detective asked, "You just missed her. She just kind of walked off that way."

@,

Without another word, Janeri rushed off in the direction of Salleria, ignoring his pain.

"Salleria!" he yelled, "I feel something is wrong. What had Steel done?"

@,

Zeb was not one to let a target go. He took off after the zebra, maybe he would actually find the griffon quickly.

Swift came in behind the others, choosing to follow the griffon at a distance when she branched away from the cops. You're not getting away from me this time.

Salleria grit her beak. She was becoming increasingly annoyed by all these... distractions. "It's more of what he's going to do. He is a cornered beast. A cornered beast with a very powerful artifact."

Steel's goons in the lobby were unsure of what to do. They recognised Salleria as their ally, but were wondering why she was having conversation with their enemy.

At the center of the lobby was an elevator that led all the way up. Salleria called it. It opened with a 'ding'.

'I can't afford not to care anymore. This has become personal.'

@,

It was then that Janeri realized with horror what had happened. "Y-you do not mean he has found the key? If he has, I must come with you. I must safely recover the artifact, so I may prevent this from ever happening again. I will not allow you to go without me."

@,@@crispy fries,

Swift and Zeb both lunged into the elevator, one of them out of breath. "You're not getting away so easily griffon."

Zeb caught his breath, looking over at the zebra. "Something is wrong with you if you're so eager to join back up with the one that was wholly responsible for your torture."

Salleria clapped her claws together and pressed the 'up' button. "Looks like the whole gang's back together!" She sarcastically celebrated. "Now all we're missing is-" she sniffed the air. "Nevermind. Hello, Swift. Did I take up the shower for too long?".

The elevator began its ascent towards steel's office.

Meanwhile, up in the office, a huge pillar of light erupted from the crystal, blasting through the ceiling and piercing the skies. Clouds swirled around it, thunder rumbling in the distance. A storm was forming. Steel stared at the pillar with wide eyes and an equally wide grin, clutching a scroll with his telekinesis. "ITS WORKING!" He cried.

@@Illiad Easle,

"That matters not at the moment. Steel has found the key to the artifact, and I have bigger concerns than Salleria's betrayal. If either of you have any sense, you will come with us and help me recover the artifact, before he destroys Manehattan and all of Equestria."

@,

"What have you done!?" yelled Janeri, "You have doomed us all!"

Swift didn't bother switching disguises. He was not happy about the arrangement to say the least. "I have half a mind to shoot you right now. But if the zebra thinks you're important I'll tolerate you for now." With a slight adjustment to his disguise he had his pegasus wings upon which he equipped his wing blades.

Zeb pulled out his secret pistol, ready for whatever secret could be at the end of this ride.

Salleria clicked her tongue, but otherwise remained quiet. She warmed up her weapon, an alien whirr emanating for it.

The elevator doors opened with a *ding*, revealing Steel's office in all it's glory, behind a bulletproof glass wall. Steel himself turned to Salleria, a manic grin plastered all over his face. "Yes, my dear. You have done well! Come see the fruits of your-"

He only just noticed the other ponies in the elevator.

"It is over. Your organization is crippled, your prized enforcer has turned upon you, and we have you cornered. Summoning a beast of Tartarus will only end with your demise. Surrender, and we will be merciful. We were take you to the police, and you will be given a fair trial."

@@crispy fries,

Swift considered if he could shoot him now, he probably could. Would anyone here turn him in for it? Maybe he could shoot the griffon too while they were distracted. No one betrays a goldie and lives.

Zeb was less confident with a gun so didn't consider shooting him, but rather if he could get close enough to beat him with his nightstick.

Both Swift and Zeb exited the confined space of the elevator. Ready to engage any who attacked them.

Steel laughed. "Fair trial or not, what kind of punishment would I receive for being the head of the mafia?! It makes no difference!"

He sighed wistfully, glancing at the artifact. "But now, at least I'll see that the world burns down together with me."

During his little monologue, the Griffin headed over to the door at the side of the glass wall. She punched in a set of numbers on the numpad and the door opened with a hiss. She began a trot towards Steel. Alarmed, steel turned to Salleria. "What are you doing?" He demanded, as Salleria approached him. "You are loyal to ME. You obey MY orders. Go KILL THOSE-"

In a blink of an eye, Steel was impaled by Saleria's umbrella, stopping him mid-speech. Salleria looked sorrowfully at him. "Loyalty to the mission is one thing. Loyalty to ponies, is another."

'At least I could spare you the wrath of the princesses.'

She pulled out her blood soaked weapon, letting Steel slump to the floor. He was still hanging on, but barely.

The pillar of light emanating from the artifact slowly began to fade. Steel smiled weakly.

"It's too late," he laughed weakly. "I win."

Through the gaping hole in the ceiling, a swirling, red portal was visible, dark clouds spilling out of it.

He struggled, propping himself up against the pedestal the artifact was set on. "WARRIOR!" He raspingly shouted.

A deep roar was heard from the portal, as if answering his call.

Steel grinned darkly. "Kill". Almost a whisper.

( crispy, you gonna control the warrior right? )

@, @@Illiad Easle,

From the portal, a massive, four eyed, lizard like monster several stories high emerged. Its skin was of cracked rock, and lava spilled from its mouth. On its chest was a patch that was brighter and more cracked than the rest of it. It looked directly at them, and let out a deafening roar.

"We must go, now!" Janeri exclaimed, "Salleria, can you fly me down to the first floor?"

@,

Swift and Zeb dropped their disguises at the sight of the new tartarus beast. Golden Rod met Cyan as they turned to each other. "We had a good run right?" "I'd like to think so." Swift picked up his radio. "This is Goldie again, yah there's a big monster in Steel's tower. If you could send a swarm to try and kill it that'd be great."

Swift set the radio back down. "Your queen's pretty cool Zeb, sorry I got you guys dragged into this mess." He turned to the other two. "Well, it was a pleasure working with you, and I have every faith that you or queen Sleipnir will manage to stop this beast. But I have very little to offer you. I can warp you down to the first floor if you want though." The cyan eyed changeling stood beside the golden eyed one.

@@Illiad Easle,

(The monster is outside the tower. I also threw in a picture of it)

A swarm of changelings seemed to pour out of every inch of the city, all picking away at the warrior. He swatted and swiped at what seemed like simple pests to him, turning his attention to the upper floors of Steel's tower.

"I would appreciate it if somepony took us down to the first floor," Janeri said.

@@crispy fries,

(It is now, in and on are not far apart)

The changelings were a hardy bunch, warping away when in danger though a few fell with each swipe. Atop a nearby tower Midnight Blue shed her disguise, revealing her tall and slender form. She looked vaguely like Luna, the holes in her legs filled with a glowing cyan substance. She began to cast powerful beams of magic at the warrior. Some rivaling the princesses for power.

"Correction" Swift said, "Your queen is amazing." Swift and Zeb took wing towards the queen. Maybe they could do something.

Salleria stared open beaked at the warrior. 'Is it stronger than Tirek? I can't tell.'

She was snapped out of her trance by Janeri's request and the teleport.

"Screw the first floor" she swore, grabbing Janeri and flying out of a shattered window. "This monster's going to bring the entire tower down!"

She landed on the roof of a nearby building, further away from the portal. "Evacuate the city!"

@@Illiad Easle,

The changelings had managed to draw the warrior's attention. It brought down its mighty fist on the tower Midnight Blue was standing on in an attempt to rid itself of this nuisance.

@,

Outside, a loud carriage horn went off on the street below. Janeri turned around and saw it was the detective, riding in a large armored carriage.

"I brought a little present," the detective said, "This is a fine piece of work. Armor plating, mounted machine gun, and it's even got its own engine. This baby can move on her own."

@@crispy fries,

The queen warped to another tower and resumed her assault. Her magic acting like a rapid firing gauss cannon towards the monster, growing more powerful as more of her children fell to the monster's attacks. "Why are we the only ones fighting this thing?"

Swift and Zeb moved out of the way of the monster's attack, shifting their path towards the queen's new firing tower.

"I will go with the detective in his vehicle. We'll take the monster from down here, and you from above."

With that, Janeri made his way down on a section of the building that had collapsed. He got into the armored carriage, and got into the gunner's seat.

"Hope you can shoot straight," the detective said.

The carriage peeled off towards the warrior, and Janeri began to pepper it with machine gun fire.

She shook her head. "I'll pass." She said, drawing her weapon. She turned back to Janeri. "If I die, just know that I never wanted any of this. If I knew that this mission would result in the destruction of Manehatten, I would have never taken part."

She flew off towards the monster, her weapon emanating an almost deafening alien whirr. It's tip glowed brightly. Salleria was holding down the trigger

"The rocks at it's chest looks softer. I'll aim there"

Salleria swooped in, releasing al the charged up power into the sweet spot. The glowing projectile launched from the umbrella slammed into it's chest, causing a violent and large explosion. Salleria did not turn back to see the effects, as her bombing run left her face to face with the changeling queen.

Janeri fired relentlessly at the warrior. Despite the gun's large caliber, it didn't seem to have much effect, but when one burst hit it in one of the glowing and cracked parts of its chest, the warrior staggered back. Part of its chest broke off, and lava spilled out. It quickly regenerated, but was clearly affected by the wound.
