Is pony blood magical?

Morbid title yes, but this has been an idea that's been bouncing around in my head for awhile. I know in most myths and legends, unicorn blood has some form of mystical properties. In some, drinking it will grant immortality, where in the Harry Potter universe, unicorn blood has healing properties, but drinking it curses who ever does so (though I can't recall if they ever specify what this curse is...)

Anyway, does this apply to Equestrians? What would happen in, say, the case of a blood transfusion? Especially if the donor was a different type of pony? Would their blood types just be naturally incompatible, or would the receiving pony briefly gain abilities from the other type, like a non-pegasus briefly being able to walk on clouds? In the case of the former, would alicorns then have the equivalent of O- blood type and be compatible with all?

And what about in the Equestra Girls world? What if any of the girls donated blood, especially Sunset (assuming for the sake of argument that she has a human blood-type)? Would the receiver develop the ability to "Pony up" after a time?

Well, as it would seem that ponies are inherently magical, I'd say it's likely that their blood is too.

However, I do not think that a transfusion of said blood would confer any abilities to the receiver of said blood- I doubt said abilities are linked to the blood so strongly.

I doubt that anything would happen from a blood transfusion between different pony species..

They are very similar beings with minimal differences in biology, though as there is indeed a hospital

there seen once or twice it's understandable that blood transfusion may happen in severe cases..

The traits that each share may not be biologically based.. but rather genetically based.. :/

Sure the blood may contain DNA, but that doesn't mean your DNA is spliced or replaced from the blood..

In short.. No, I highly doubt a blood transfusion will do anything special.. :P

Basing my reasoning purely on the show itself, I'm not convinced that ponies even can bleed.  If pony blood - assuming it exists canonically (yes, going there) - is chock-full of magic, Tirek ought to have been portrayed more like a vampire.  Vampire-centaur.  Centire?  Vampaur?  Vampentaur.

And I don't feel as though myth is a reliable indicator as to how things might work in MLP.  Where'd the Pegasus of Grecian myth come from?  Oh yeah: He sprang from the blood of the recently-decapitated Gorgon Medusa.  I...  Don't especially want to apply that to MLP. xD

From what I can tell, it seems that the majority of a pony's magic is concentrated in their cutie mark, not in the other parts of them; So I don't feel that blood infusions would really work since the "core" of where their magic is contained is still on them.

Think of it like a person having a magical rune on them that bestows a magical effect. Stealing their body parts or their blood wouldn't work, its the RUNE that bestows the magic.

Personally, I think that magic is a function of the brain. With Unicorns, they have a horn as an organ of direction and emission, so their magic is much more pronounced than say an Earth pony.
