Second Sight raised an eyebrow at the lackluster description. "Do you have any more information on the Griffin? Notable things she carried? Appearance? Plumage?" He asked. "If we plan on tracking her down, we need more information specific to her. We are bound to find traces of her where she's been."

Glen turned towards the pony in the back and pondered for a moment. "Oh! She had four wings, she hid the second pair well, but I noticed. Her wings, eyes and tail were all purple, very distinctive, though the wings stand out the most if you can see them. She also had this long pointy metal object, like a gun but different, a magical weapon I'd think, not as elegant as my father's stuff but I've yet to see someone beat Dell's machines. I could help you guys look for her if you want, I don't have another caravan to escort for another few weeks anyway."

Halfway through her explanation, second sight pinched between his eyes. "Oh no. No no, I know who you're talking about. There's only one Griffin in Equestria that fits that description."

He turned to the others. "Remember how I told you two that I made weapons? She commissioned her weapon from me. I designed that thing." He explained. He paused time to gather his thoughts and spoke again. "She's a Griffin mercenary with obvious mental issues. Salleria. The only reason she would take the artifact was if she was working for someone else."

He turned back to Glen. "Her weapon looked like an umbrella or a lance right?"

@,

Glen nodded, "Yah, it did look something like that. Much more magic than machine really. I like machines better than all that magic stuff, they're easier to use in my opinion. My dad's would practically fire themselves. So, since you made her weapon you'd know a good way to disable it right? It would make it much easier to take her out if we can disable her weapon first.

@@Illiad Easle,

"Hey, do you have any weapons to spare? I've only got a switchblade, and I'm pretty sure that it won't be enough if we're tracking down some mentally unstable griffon mercenary. Not to mention, it's a dragon country. And by the way, I'm not Illiad's marefriend.

@@crispy fries,

Glen turned towards Ballpoint as she rolled her eyes, "I know you're not his mare-friend, I was just trying to see if I could embarrass him, we tease each other back and forth. As to weapons, I don't personally have any to spare, they're all mine and I'm not sharing. However, any of the half-dozen local gunsmiths and blacksmiths would be happy to sell you something more powerful than your switchblade.

Second Sight shrugged. "I highly recommend you work your away with her with your words rather than your weaponss" he suggested. "We're what? An inventor, a cartographer and a reporter. She's a mercenary."

He looked to the skies. "Shop fast, we'll need to find a place to sleep. I'll go look around for a shop selling camping supplies.... unless Glen already has them."

Glen turned towards Second Sight, "I have enough gear for myself, depending on where we're going, but I can recommend some supplies you'd probably be interested in buying." She retrieved a piece of paper from her shed house and passed it to Second Sight. It was a fairly detailed list of reccomended equipment baised on destanation and where in town the items could be procured. "If ya'll know where you're going I can start planning a quick and safe route there."

Illiad turned to the group, "I'm going to check up with the one who sent me, see if she knows anything more about where the griffon went."

Second Sight nodded in thanks. "Come with me, Ballpoint, you might find something you like" he invited, walking towards the indicated store. He looked at the list: Canteens... Saddlebags... most of them were fairly obvious choices.

He passed by an Inn simply named 'The Inn'.

'Might want to stop by there tonight. Maybe he'll have some information.'

"Sure thing, what do you think I'll find?" asked Ballpoint.

As they walked, Ballpoint noticed the same inn Second Sight had.

'Inns have booze,' she thought to herself. 'Wait, no, you already got shitfaced on the train. You don't need those killjoys getting their panties in a knot.'

Second Sight shrugged. "I don't know. Of course there's the standard stuff, but each place has it's own little variations. I'd expect you to find more revolvers and leather materials here than the city ( you decide what you want to be there )."

They reached the shop. It was a simple outdoor equipment store manned by a single pony.

@@crispy fries,@,

(You'll find it is much easier to get a gun here than in the city, and they're of the same or even better quality than other places. In order to buy a gun you just have to prove you can use it competently and read/sign a statement confirming that you know how to use a gun properly.)

Illiad left the other two to their shopping and returned to the house he was renting for the time, he was glad to see that nothing seemed out of place when he walked in. He already had a stockpile of survival and excursion goods given his frequent travels to the buffalo tribes. He took a quick inventory and emerged with a short list of the things he was lacking in, looks like he had some shopping to do after all.

@,

At the counter of the store was an old earth pony with a scar across his face. "Whatcha buyin'?" he asked.

"Well, we're going on an excursion out to the badlands to find a griffon," replied Ballpoint.

"First of all, yer gonna need a good weapon," said the earth pony as he walked over to the gun rack and took a pistol from it. "This here's one of, if not the best .45 on the market. Punchy, reliable, sturdy, and a good price too."

Second Sight turned down the offer. "Maybe that'll help against wild animals" he muttered. He began checking off the items on his list, in accordance to the size of his party, of course. 'Maybe the stallion know something' he mused.

Clearing his throat, he asked: "Hey, mister. Has a griffin passed through here recently?"

The shopkeeper scratched his head. "Uhhh.. no. Wait, yes actually. A black one and purple one. Seemed nice enough. Polite, almost friendly. Bought much of my stock too! Pretty much the same range of things you're buying."

@,@@crispy fries,

(I was hoping you guys would continue to something I could connect to but I guess I'll just fill in some more.)

Illiad passed by the gunsmiths, while he didn't have a gun he had a pretty powerful shield, and manipulating emotions was a great way to demoralize enemies in combat, nothing like sudden terror to cause a surrender. He was surprised to see a tall unicorn, similar yet different than Midnight Blue. Her mane shone like gold in the sunlight, her coat a tan just a few shades more gold than Illiad's own. He quickly approached, "Hello again Golden Rod, I haven't seen you in town in a long time. News on Swift is he's chasing a griffon and they apparently passed by here. You haven't seen him have you?"

Golden Rod had felt Illiad coming from a ways off and was not surprised when he approached. "I'm afraid not, though I have heard news of a griffon around here, apparently she's searching for a changeling hive rumored to be nearby. I worry to hear that they could be so close to us."

Illiad pondered on the subject. "Why would she be after changelings? I'd think she'd want to get as far away from them as she can."

The shopkeeper continued along the gun rack and pulled down a large, shiny revolver. "This here's a .357 magnum. Real big, puts a hole in anythin', and it's got a real authoritative look."

Ballpoint couldn't help but be drawn by the gun. "I'll take it," she said, putting the last of her bits on the counter. "And some ammo too."

Second Sight thanked the shopkeeper for his help and set some of the items he had bought on Ballpoint. "Help me carry some of this stuff" he, uh, commanded. "Let's go find the other guy, then we can go find somewhere to stay."

Looking around, it barely took him a second for him to find the khaki unicorn. He motioned for Ballpoint to follow as he headed towards him.

@, @@Illiad Easle,

As Ballpoint took some of the gear they had bought, she looked over to where Second Sight had motioned. She saw the same thing he had, a unicorn who looked like the changeling queen from the hotel in Manehattan.

"Is that Illiad's boss or something?" she asked.

Golden Rod and Illiad turned to face the other two as they approached. "Oh hey guys, This is Golden Rod, the one that sent me to find Swift, apparently the griffon is looking for changelings in the area, which means she could still be within a few dozen miles of the town, Swift is no doubt around here too though he hasn't been seen yet."

Ballpoint extended her hoof to Goldenrod as well and said, "Hi, I'm Ballpoint, Canterlot Press."

Ballpoint found it sort of odd that Goldenrod looked similar to that changeling queen.

'Are they related or something?' she thought. 'Is she also a changeling?'

Golden Rod shook each extended limb in turn, "It's good to meet both of you, I wish I could offer you some lodging but I'm only in Dodge for the day, I live out near Las Pegasus but I have a vested interest in this town so I find myself here occasionally. Good luck catching that griffon, I'll be sure to keep an eye out for them and I'll let you know if I see anything." With that she began to walk away. Illiad turned towards the group. "I'm still renting a house here in town, because I still live here. There's plenty of space and it gives you guys a chance to break in that camping gear you got."

Second nodded. "Excellent. Lead the way then, we can sort out our camping equipment there." he jerked the equipment on his back for emphasis.

As she walked, she began to telekinetically load her newly purchased gun.

@@crispy fries,@,

Illiad nodded, he wasn't about to respond to Ballpoint's statement anyway though he found it unlikely that she would have to go too far to get someplace to sleep, unless she found asking strangers for help to be regrettable that is.

He led the way to his small house, it was a bit larger than Glen's shed and looked a bit more like a house too. Entering the house there was a small living area with a half kitchen on the side, a short hallway to the back had three doors on it. "Welcome to my house, don't mind the mess I don't get many visitors. Bathroom's the door on the right if you need it." There was a pile of assorted camping supplies in the corner of the living area. Illiad proceeded to the kitchen. "You guys hungry for anything in particular or did you eat while in town?"

(I like planning while eating, but I don't mind if we don't post about regular meals throughout this.)
