Copper looked shocked beyond belief. Amputation? On him? Was she a mad mare?! "WHAT IN CELESTIA'S NAME ARE YOU DOING?!" he roared, cowering behind the chair, as if it was his only protection. He wasn't ready to die so early in his life. He had so much to do anyways.

Keiko inched closer towards Copper menacingly. She was almost face to face, before the schaunsaw stopped and she pulled away, giggling. "You're so cute when you're scared."

 

Putting the chainsaw away, she charged a spell with her horn and fired it directly at Copper's wound.

 

----- Meanwhile -----

 

Excalibur pushed Shadow Beast back into his portal with a hoof. "Well, since you all are so eager, we'll move on to the Monster battle, or raid battle, right now! But first... Allow me to explain several things......

So, a little bit about Monster battles...

 

Monster fight events are events where you fight something from whatever place or dimension we choose in a group or solo. They vary hugely in difficulty. The list of open monster fight events can be found on an app in your iStone.

 

Monster fight Events, or as some call them, 'Raid battles', have huge point rewards that are distributed among it's participants. If you manage to take one down solo, well, good for you. However, it is highly recommended that you attend those as a group. Pick your battles carefully, as you can only take part in 2 raid battles a day.

 

To take part in a raid battle, select an event in your iStone and create a 'party'. Then, invite the combatants you want to team with into the part. From there, when everyone gathers in the arena and ready's up, the monster will appear in the arena. The battle will begin immediately.

"It's done. We might be next for the monster battle  and we might not be next "

Blitz smirked as he listened to the announcement made by the host of the tournament and simply cued up for a solo monster fight. "If the others don't look at my fight, then I could very easily cut loose." He thought to himself.

Gale gave a slight nod at Shadow. She was curious as to what the two of them would be fighting, and knew that they could take it down if they worked as a team.

Copper gave the nurse an menacing glare before his leg got healed up from the blast of magic.  He got up, wincing as it stung a bit, and growled at the nurse.  "Thanks." he said, lacking the usual enthusiastic tone in him for a more hateful one.  He took his trident and went out of the clinic, an angry look on him.

He made his way back to the arena and decided to go up to where the others were.  Once he reached there, he slumped on a seat, angrily muttering to himself.

"How come y'all are actin' so grumpy?" Redwood asked Copper. "Ah hope you ain't bein' a sore loser."

 

She took a minute to stretch and crack her neck before asking Shadow, "So, ah'm ready fer th' monster fight, how about y'all?"

 

The fight with Copper seemed like it would just be a warm up compared to this one.

Copper looked at Redwood, walking up to him.  "Oh, I'm no sore loser.  Did you not see the hoof-shake I gave you earlier?  I'm just mad that the nurse gave me a heart attack trying to heal me.  'Amputation', my flank.  Giving me the chainsaw scare prank.  I would've whooped her for being so insolent, but I'll let this pass, for now."

Excalibur nodded. "Well, a party seems to be ready. Let's get this battle underway!"

 

The arena flashed purple, and all combatants who participated in the raid party were teleported into the arena.

 

The holographic screen changed to display he names of those who had chosen to participate. It spoke. "Prepare yourselves. The monster will be summoned in three, two, one..."

 

But nothing happened. The computerised voice coughed. "We are currently experiencing technical difficulties. Please stand by."

 

A silverfish gray stag stood alone near the peak of a snow capped mountain, the glow of the tunes of his antlers barely visible through the icy flurry.

 

"Khris, you sure this's the one?"

 

An ethereal voice emanated from the sword sheathed by his side. "Yes, Enzo. The tribal village below say they haven't been able to make their pilgrimages since the wisps set shop at their sacred peak."

 

"Great. Let's keep going."

 

The lone stag trudged up the mountain, his blue scarf gripping tightly against a rock should Enzo fall. Soon they reached the peak. And as expected, a swarm of sparkly little balls was clearly visible, surrounding xsome sort of large structure which Enzo presumed would be their hive.

 

The sword spoke once more. "Enzo, I'm receiving a telepathic message. They say you need to perform your side of the spell now."

 

He grinned and began charging up a spell. The runes on his antlers glowed brightly.

 

"Just in time. Sorry little buddies, but the pay's too good. But hey! Cheer up! You aren't sentient..."

 

A bright blue opaque sphere materialised around the hive and the ground below it. It slowly glowed brighter and brighter, until suddenly, it disappeared. The ground where a crater would be was instead filled with the telltale suntanned sand of the arena.

 

"...right?"

 

---------------- Meanwhile -------------

 

An identical bright blue sphere materialised itself in the middle of the arena. As it dissipated, a brief cold gust billowed from it, washing an icy chill over the arena. In response, the arena glowed purple.

 

"Enemy: Wisp Hive. Arena: Artic" droned the AI's voice.

 

The purple glow of the arena and the opaque sphere completely disappeared in unison. What was once a barren arena of dirt was now a snowy field dotted by the occasional rock. But at the centre of it, stood.... It.

 

A swarm of very agitated wisps.

 

"Monster Raid battle begins now!"

 

( as stated in the OOC, a guest member named p-jay will be controlling the wisps )

Redwood got back into her fighting stance and backed away slightly from the cloud of wisps. She set the Appleoosa Buster to the rapid fire setting, and kept using the fire crystal. Redwood then let off a few probing bursts of fire into the cloud of wisps.

Shadow laughed at the wisps and decided to choose his scythe. He opened a portal and pulled it out. He gave it a few spins to check the balance, then he grabbed five throwing knives and launched them in at the wisps. Then he stood there to see what happened.

The shots flew into the storm, alongside the knives. The storm had been buzzing with an agitated vibe up until now...

 

Until a two wisps, who had taken the shots dead on, fell from the ranks. Their electric aura faded, before they hit the ground. The buzzing seemed to stop for a moment, before each and every wisp in the hive focused their stare on Redwood...

 

...A charge was passed. And kept flowing through it's ranks...As a malicious crackling was forming violently, in their ranks, at a rapid pace. Before anyone could notice what was happening, an arcing strike of artificial lightning bolted from the storm, twisting this way and that as it hurled towards Redwood...

 

...With enough power to shatter boulders.

He ran up and started clawing through the wisps. He opened a portal and appeared right from where he took off. He grabbed his scythe and pulled it out of the ground.

Blitz shrugged and fired a black sphere into the swarm. It looked like a solid mass, but it wasn't like anything normally found in Equestria. It simply continued in a straight path until it ran into the ground, kicking up dust.

Gale smirked as she landed on the arena floor and launched a concentrated ball of oxygen/acetlyine fueled flame into the swarm. If all went well, it would blow up in the center of the swarm, incinerating anything in the explosion's path.

Redwood put more distance between her and the cloud of wisps before she began to strafe around them, firing short, controlled bursts into their ranks. Het shield would be next to useless against them, so she was forced to attack the wisps at a distance.

Copper watched with amusement as the fight between the wasps and his opponents.  He was impressed by the display of strength by both sides as the fight continued.  He decided he would have a chance to play a little battle with a monster himself, just to display his own skills.

something curious happened the moment he went into the storm. first, the mass electrical aura started to shock him all over his body...and as if that wasnt enough, they converged on him, covering him head-to-toe with their small bodies. he had made the mistake of charging into the storm...a deathwish for anyone who wasn't prepared...and wisps were renown for being sticky, and stubborn. 

 

for the briefest second, his body buzzed pleasantly...then, the shocking started. the wisps on his body--twenty-five at most, from the storm of a rough hundred--were passing their charge through his body, to eachother. rapid firing, as the arc of lightning was passed through over and over again.

 

even when he attempted to flee through the portal, the wisps on his body stayed put, continuing their merciless attack. if he didnt do something soon, in seconds, he'll be paralyzed...and then likely dead.

the remaining swarm, that hadn't left through the portal, blinked in unison at the black sphere. deciding on the spot it was an attack, the swarm parted to make a hole, letting the black sphere harmlessly pass through. by now, they had split into four total groups of twenty-five--one for each threat. each had already started to build up another attack, the chain of lightning being passed through the smaller swarms.

 

when Gale launched her second attack, she would find that the wisps were faster, having thrown their attack at her before her own spell had even gone a meter beyond her. the lightning bolt was intended to strike her, but the wisps had missed, striking the ball-bomb instead...likely causing it to explode, before her eyes.

the swarm buzzed even more angrily as a few more were dropped from their ranks, courtesy of her sharpshooting, they reacted by spreading out more. the single giant aura of crackling electricity was barely maintained in the swarm, as they gave chase. a defensive tactic--intended to make the swarm look bigger then they really were.

 

her attacks from the on missed the small, spaced individuals in the hard-to-see-through swarm, as they unleashed another bolt at her...if she was a keen mind, however, she would notice that the bolt was considerably weaker then before...just enough to cause near-fatal wounds, should it hit her.

 

 

Copper watched with amusement as the fight between the wasps and his opponents.  He was impressed by the display of strength by both sides as the fight continued.  He decided he would have a chance to play a little battle with a monster himself, just to display his own skills.

as Copper sat, observing the fight, he would feel the smallest prick on his flank. Turning to see what had caused it would reveal a single, smaller-then-usual wisp staring back up at him. a different shade from the rest--perhaps a genetic abnormality, similar to how a pokemon would occasionally be 'shiny'.

 

it seemed to smile up at him, as it became obvious that the prick it caused him could've been a  nasty shock, should it have so choosed.

He ran at them again and started swinging his scythe around. He jumped away, pulled out some throwing knives and started tossing them into the storm

Copper felt a prick on his flank.  He turned to see a small wasp that was there.  He smiled a little cutely to the wasp, lifted it up and started petting on it.  "Awww.  You're so cute!  I could just snuggle with you all day."  He continued petting the wasp gently, as he didn't want to get it angry.

Redwood put her weapon on the medium power setting, giving her blasts a wider radius. She continued to move while she fired, and ran in a circle to wrangle the wisps into one mass.

Shrugging them off didn't work in the least. Scraping them off only resulted in them immediately reattaching themselves to his coat, resuming their shocks through his body.

 

With the time wasted, trying to get them off in such a naive way, Shadow had no doubt sustained serious damage by now. Shock paralysis should be setting in any second now...

A low coo sounded from the wisp, as it was pet gently. It looked towards the battle, albeit a tad...Worriedly. Sinking somewhat when it's gaze passed over it's fallen friends, on the ground.

 

It nestled into Copper's hoof, for comfort.

A much more effective tactic, resulting in most of the wisps in her swarm dropping dead. Ranged, spread out attacks seemed to work well--seeing as they were too slow to avoid the bullets. 

 

A severely weakened bolt was passed through, being fired at her once more...An apparent last-ditch effort, on the wisps' part.

 

 

 

Shadow - 31 wisps (killed 2)

Redwood - 16 wisps (killed 17, as of her latest attack)

Copper - 1 wisp (killed none)

Blitz - 33 (killed none)

By now, Redwood's shield was charged up again. She blocked the attack with it, and while it didn't totally fizzle out, it was still fairly weakened. She set the Appleoosa Buster to the highest power setting, firing in large swaths to cut down the last of the group that was attacking her. Redwood never stopped moving as well, staying with her circle pattern to keep the wisps together.

Second Sight slurped loudly on a drink, observing the battle from a screen. "Those wisps are stupid." He chuckled. "If they maintained a constant, stream of light attacks, it would prevent her shield from recharging."

 

He squinted at the screen. "Redwood better be careful with the gun though. I'm surprised it hasn't overheated yet. If it hasn't already it's going to any time soon."

 

A couple of crackers floated to his mouth. "She'll need to get used to an energy weapon."

Photon Jet gasped when the pony-like creature looked at him. He then cleared his throat. "Sorry." he said apologetically. "I was amazed by how you open up portals and go into them like that. It seems my curiosity got me again.

 

He examined the pony-like being carefully. "You look like you're not from around here." he said.

Copper heard the cooing, and he knew he was making a great friend.  He saw the wisp watch the battle as well, and he still pet the wisp gently.  "Those are your friends, right?  I'm sorry you have to witness this, I would be mad if I saw this myself if I were you.  It might be best if you hid for a while.  They're gonna come back soon, and they'll find you."

"Ya really think this painful. I dealt with worse and I not going down"

He grabbed one of his knives and started stabbing at them, luckily the blade was as tough as his scales or he would have cut himself many times when he missed

(@P-Jay Gale is a dragon, not a unicorn. Sorry for the confusion. Also, you didn't include her in the roster.)

 

Gale roared in surprise as she was momentarily blinded. Her scales were fireproof, so that wasn't a big concern for the moment. Of course, her eyes would sting for a bit. The dragoness then began to release a steady stream of flames into the swarm

 

Blitz simply facepalmed and sighed. "This is why I hate fighting bugs." He muttered to himself before flying in circles. Eventually, this created a mini tornado and all the bat pony had to do was basically direct it at the swarm.
