SilverStarApple 849 March 31, 2016 Share March 31, 2016 Is Gen 3 the one with My Little Pony Tales? I used to hate that show, it was nothing more than a mass of sitcom cliches from kids shows and adult shows alike. (Note: We're talking unfunny sitcoms with dick jokes here, not something actually funny like Rick and Morty.) I was dead until the moment I met you. I was a powerless corpse pretending to be alive. Living without power, without the ability to change my course, was akin to a slow death. If I must live as I did before then... -Lelouch, Code Geass - My NEW DeviantART: http://SilverStarApple.deviantart.com/Want to make money for being an AWESOME PONY? https://www.tsu.co/Epsilon725 My fanfic, starring Silver Star Apple: http://www.fimfiction.net/story/224996/the-shining-silver-star-of-the-apple-family
PinkieatHeart 208 March 31, 2016 Share March 31, 2016 I don't know much about the other generations, to be honest. And I haven't looked them up yet cuz I need to catch up on the current show first, and because it doesn't catch my interest like Friendship is Magic. But I've never said anything bad about the older versions. I'm sure they have some great, cute things about them too. I didn't know there was hate for past generation, actually... I've only ever seen good things about it.
Ziggy + Angel + Rain 11,302 March 31, 2016 Share March 31, 2016 I didn't know there was hate for past generation, actually... I've only ever seen good things about it. I think that part of the "hate" comes from people feeling the need to elevate G4 by disparaging past gens. I say this because someone who dislikes G3 will often include a direct comparison to G4, "FIM is so much better than [insert past gen]." This is kind of how the fandom operates; they do the same thing with ponies / members of the Mane Six. While G4 is the gen of which I'm by far the fondest (I haven't been exposed to much else, myself), it seems kind of unfair to compare it against series from years ago that never attracted the sort of audience and attention that FIM has. 2 "It uses the faculty of what you call imagination. But that does not mean making things up. It is a form of seeing." - from "The Amber Spyglass"
AlbaTross 1,586 March 31, 2016 Share March 31, 2016 G3.5 is the one series I haven't seen, largely because Hasbro has that locked down pretty tightly. I will say that I agree that there's a charm to every series I did see though. However, in the case of G3 there's also a ton of bad. To be fair though, I'm glad I took the time to watch past series. I have no intention of watching them again, at least not presently, but they all had at least some aspect that engaged me. My biggest ulterior motives were being able to join in discussions on past gens, and seeing how characters and concepts in FiM might have evolved from past series, and which elements Lauren Faust might have lifted from them, and I did end up getting that out of these shows. I do have some respect for them laying down the foundation, without which there would be no FiM, but it all just served to make me appreciate FiM that much more.
Savy 5,081 April 23, 2022 Share April 23, 2022 Fr, G3 is kinda cute tbh, I actually grew up with it. I also kinda actually think My Little Pony Tales is cute as well imo. I can also say the same about G5, bruh. I just don't like generation bashing ya know.
