Clover listened to all this and wondered why everypony in the resistance had to argue. They ought to be banding together, not fighting amongst themselves. She decided not to mention this and instead busied herself putting protective wards all around the building so that no changelings could enter or overhear anything they said. If any changeling tried to enter, the wards would emit a warning siren that would be only heard by the resistance group and they could then take steps to remove the threat.

While sitting around, waiting for some kind of order or direction from anypony, he noticed the alicorn going around and using magic of some kind. This magic could either be to help, or hinder them, and he would be damned if he let somepony sabotage their resistance already. He stepped down from the chair and approached her, adorning his gas mask as he always did in confrontations. Something about it made him into a different pony, something about it made him feel more sure in himself. Once he was about five feet behind her, he kept his hoof on his smg, and cleared his throat to get her attention, "What do you think you're doing?"

@@Colenso Rivers, Clover turned sharply, facing the pony who was speaking to her. Not one for confrontation, at least, not any more, Clover took a breath before replying.

 

"I'm putting protective wards all around this building," she said. "I figured that it would be best so that in case of attack, we'd get some warning as well as protection. I just felt that it was the most useful thing that a pony like myself could do here."

 

Clover was of course the Princess of Magic as well as being an alicorn; alicorn magic was naturally stronger than unicorn magic, so she didn't think that there was any use in delegating. Of course, the wards, once up, could easily be maintained by unicorns; it was the putting in place by an alicorn which made them the strongest that they could be.

Sapphire also walked over. "What if somepony here is a changeling? Will the spell tell us about everypony here?" It was a ligitment concern for all they knew someone here may not be who they claim to be. This made her look around again at the various ponies here she was worried about finallytrying to get back at them it was risky.

"While I would like to go back to the way things used to be and automatically trust that everypony is who they say they are, I know full well that that's a foolish idea. As well as protecting the building, there is also a spell woven into it which will force any changeling masquerading as a member of the resistance to reveal themselves. It's my talent to be able to work magic to this extent. Tho, I never expected that things would end up like this. I never even thought that I might have to use my magic in this way when I became a Princess."

He nodded and ran his tongue across his teeth under his mask, before taking a sigh of both relief and sorrow. "I was just making sure." He took note again that she was an alicorn and swung his hoof before adding, being both humbled by a princess and relieved that she wasn't a changeling, "I'm sorry for suspecting you Princess, it's been hard times. To be honest, I get a bad feeling from many o-" He turned his head away as a sharply painful coughing fit shook him and filled his sight with tears. When he recovered, he added more stoically, "It doesn't matter." He was legitimately upset at circumstances.

@@Colenso Rivers, "Don't worry," Clover replied, feeling sorry for the other pony. "Is there anything that I can do to help you?"

 

Clover was genuinely concerned at the way the pegasus was coughing and felt that she ought to offer help, if he wanted it. She finished the last ward, mixing the revealing spell with the protection spell.

He found himself in slight shock of her concern, but then again she was a princess. That look in her eyes though, from any other pony he would have been livid. He shook his head and answered more pessimistically, "No offense princess, but there are some things that not even magic can remedy." He didn't want to go into any greater detail, but he did have a question to fire back at her, if a tad nervously so, "If you don't mind me asking your name is, I would like to address you proper..."

@@Colenso Rivers, Clover sighed, then said, "My full title is Clover, the Princess of Magic, but I would much prefer it if you could just call me 'Clover'. After all, in such times as these, it's not as tho there's much use for a princess any more. As far as I know, I'm the only one left."

@@Pripyat Pony, He turned to her in disbelief, how could she? "What, no no no no no nooooooo..." He approached, forgetting how far below her he was, "Equestria needs a princess now more than ever. You're a symbol of hope, that things can be as they were once again." Lowering his tone, "Why else would you be here." He suddenly realized his position and backed up a tad, bringing his eyes to the ground, "Princess, by the time we are done, you will rule once again. I swear on my life." That last one made him smile under his mask, You better get to work then bud.
