How would you write out the royal sisters, keeping to show rating?

Since the season 5 finale, it's been made 100% clear, by all the timeines Starlight screwed up by trying to keep te mane 6 from ever getting simultaneous cutie marks through the rainboom, and preventing heir ever becoming friends/guardians of Equestria, and the fact that the future is dependent on the sole mane 6's friendship to save the world- there's ABSOLUTELY NO NEED for the royal sisters to continue ruling the land, as proven by their incompetence many times over. They're no longer suitable guardians, which was why, according to the Journal of the Two Sisters, were why they accepted their princess roles to begin with.

Twilight is an alicorn (the race that best represents the three races), Twilight is a princess and teacher of friendship, knows how to raise the clestial bodies on her own, is more competent than Sunbutt or Lunanin protecting the ponies, and is leader of the new generation of the guardians of Equestria that can pull their weight and get the job done.

It's evident that Twi and friends are the new guardians and that The toyal Sisters' time to step down gracefully, as they've done their part. So how would you decide to write them out? Would you address it through confrontation, the sisters holding a civil discussion with the 6, informing them of their relinquish of royal title and thone? A coup? Simply keep it on the down low, and phase the sisters out by keeping their characters from being animated or given screen time?

Your Jumping to conclusions based on false premises.

You are looking at scenarios where the loss of the mane six leads to the ruinous timelines. HOWEVER, you are doing this without proper proof via experimentation: Specifically, you know that the loss of one variable (the mane six) leads to destruction. You HAVE NOT proven that other variables are not equally important as there was no timeline showing things being Successful without Celestia and luna but with the mane six there.

Its like baking: You take out the yeast you end up with a ruined cake. But that doesn't prove that the flour isn't just as important as the yeast to success.

I think Twilight replacing Celestia is already in the works, which is why she was ascended in the first place. Celestia and Luna were the defenders of Equestria when they were the elements of Harmony. They lost that power after they turned on each other and had to use the elements to seal the other on the moon.

I think the Tree of Harmony has their replacement coming fairly soon, its already communicating to Twilight directly through the map as supposed to through Celestia anyway.

Anyways, my original post out of the way, fairly easily.

have a situation where celestia and luna are forced to sacrifice all of their magical power and life energy holding back a villain or accomplishing a great task (reigniting the sun in a situation where a villain puts it "out" magically? Creating a magical prison for a villain?). Have them begin to fade away, becoming more or less blue shades/ghosts of themselves, have them bid a tearful farewell and entrust Equestria to the mane six and then dissapear or fade away in an energy way before becoming constellations.

Basically have them die in a way that doesn't leave a corpse or require a wound of some kind. Basically a death scene like master oogway from kung fu panda

yet you provide no sucess of the sisters in protecting their citizens without intervention from the mane 6, since the passing of elements of harmony and role of guardians them, to back your claim.

My point is that you are jumping to the view that the Mane six alone, without the 2 sisters, could be successful in safeguarding the kingdom without the sisters when the sisters have been active in helping or aiding the six in most scenarios (Like the S6 premier).

Its equally as likely that the loss of the two sisters would lead to just as much problems as the loss of the six.

season 6 premier had them present, but certainly not helpful. Their magic did nothing against the storm clouds. They were not sucessful in clearing them or keeping them at bay. They proved powerless for all their show of magical horn lazers.

The mane 6 can and have shown to be successful without the sisters.

agreed. And it's long overdue. One of the writers recently tweeted that te staff are trying to stay true to LF's original vision (even with Hasbro throwing marketing wrenches in the plan), so I hope the sisters step down soon. There's really no role for them as guardians and rulers, now.

So how would you write them out?

They did far more than everyone not named "Twilight" "Starlight" or "Sunburst" :P

If they hadn't held the clouds at bay Twilight wouldn't have had time to find the spell and Starlight and sunbust wouldn't have had time to make it to explain how to make things work (and, with starlight, to aid in the reconstruction).

RD, AJ, Rarity and fluttershy might as well have not been in the episode for their contributions :P, while Celestia's help was vital.

Simple, I would have it be Celestia's and the Tree's plan all along. Celestia and Luna screwed up when they turned on each other, and because of that the elements were taken away from them by the Tree of Harmony.

The Tree of Harmony is the reason they have had glimpses of the future before, because the Tree perceives all time at the same time and gives them just enough information to make its master plan work. It's probably the reason Celestia had Spikes Egg, which it told her would be opened by the pony who would become her successor and the bearer of the element of magic. Celestia followed its plan and waited for that day to arrive, and sure enough that egg hatches on the very day the new bearers of the Elements of Harmony are awakened.

She trains Twilight, grooming her for princess-hood and finally sending her to ponyville to meet the other Elements exactly as the Tree of Harmony intended. Even in the other realities where everything was over run, The tree had the map and Twilight there and unchanged and allowed her to do her battle with Starlight Glimmer and convert her to the side of Harmony since she will play a vital role in the plan to come. Those parallel universes were not important to it like the main universe, and it even let Zecora know this when she used her magic to see if they were changelings. She knew how to interpret the Tree of Harmony's message because that is exactly why she is in the Everfree forest to begin with, to work for the Tree.

Twilight is left pretty much in the dark about all this because the Tree wants her to "play her part" naturally, and any undo information would deviate from its plans. She now knows as of the season five finale that her friends and her are the reason that Equestria is safe. In reality the Tree could of solved those problems in the parallel realities fairly easily, in fact it could of Stopped Starlight from doing the spell in the first place, but it chose to let it happen specifically because it wanted Twilight to know how important she was to its plans AND to get Starlight on her side.

Twilight proves herself in her final test and Celestia steps in and says its time for her to succeed the two sisters, just like it had been planned from the very beginning. Meanwhile Starlight and Sunburst have a kid, and they name that kid after the great Wizard Starswirl. Twilight, who now runs Equestria with her friends, takes on Starswirl as her pupil.

Between Twilight, Starlight, and Sunburst, The young Starswirl learns all the magic he needs, especially time magic, and he is given the task by the Tree of Harmony to go back in time and set in motion the events that lead to the Two Sisters ascending into Alicorns as well as all the other events that Starswirl the Bearded ever interacted with. He knew about all of them because he learned about it along with everything he knew from Twilight Sparkle whom was Starswirl the Bearded's biggest fan.

Starswirl brings the Two sisters to the Tree of Harmony, the Tree makes them into the elements of harmony, and they proceed to go through the motions that lead up to the very first episode of My little Pony, where Twilight was sent to ponyville to meet her friends for the first time and start that journey all over again, finally resulting in her tutoring the very Wizard that she idolized as a filly.

That's how I'd end it anyway.

Just leave them out. They have very little presence nowadays that this is the next logical step.

For something in-universe, same thing; they don't get mentioned at all until it's been too long. The Mane 6 notice that 2 of Equestria's rulers are gone for some reason, they shrug, and start looking for replacements. Or maybe Twilight will just take the throne herself.

Mane 6 have never actually saved the world from a legit threat. Writers did. And it rests solely in the hands of these writers to increase or decrease the power levels of individual pones according to the demands of each and every episode. It’s not like with say the superhero stuff where the fans can and will call writers out on their bullshit because they often know the heroes better than writers themselves. Here, these stalwart creative people can do whatever the buck they want and take cover behind “it’s a kid show” whenever some angry fan starts spitting fire their way.

Stating that Celestia and Luna are less powerful and competent that other little pones is like saying that you know the future. So when those brave and oh so powerful young mares will get captured by a bunch of milk toast dragons or something, will you then start spouting nonsense about how CMC are the most powerful entities in Equestria?

How would I write them? I wouldn’t even get them to this state in the first place. If not able to, I’d just show my finger to the man upstairs and go create my own IP with cute furry creatures. But then again, I would never want to become a professional writer in the first place. Too unstable.

Actually this shouldn't bee to hard, judging by season's 5 portrayal of Celestia. Just don't have either of them make anymore physical apperences. The cutie map can easily replace Celestia's role as a mission giver in 2 part episodes.

I don't think I would be able to stomach thinking up an episode that would write Celestia and Luna out of the series forever. They are loved deeply by many members of the Brony Community, and it would break their hearts to not see Celestia and Luna anymore in the series if anything happened to them that would require something like a heroic sacrifice to write them out of the show.

Even if they are only getting fewer appearances lately in the last couple of seasons, they are still loved very much, and I don't think we'll be seeing them leave Equestria in better hands anytime soon. It would just be too heartbreaking to watch anyhow.
