Alright, now to the fanfic. This is my first 'Dark' fanfic and it's pretty creepy. But I wrote it so here it is.

 

Also, the main character is called Blank because it could be anyone.

 

Reader discretion is advised.

February 17th

It was a day like any other, Blank had come over to Button Mash's house after school to hang out and play video games.

 

Blank: "Hey Button, what game is that?"

 

BM: "Oh this, this is called Pokemon Red Version. You play as a young pony in a world with lots of cool creatures that you can capture, battle and trade with your friends."

 

Blank: "That sounds like tons of fun, I wish I could play with you."

 

BM: "Well, I know you don't have that much money right now, but at Stop4Games, they have a used GamePony Color with a copy Of Pokemon Green Version for ten bits."

 

Blank: "Oh wow! I've got eleven bits, I can buy that. So tomorrow I'll come over and we can play together."

 

Later that day, Blank stopped by Stop4Games and purchased the previously mentioned GamePony Color and copy of Pokemon Green. He got home and loaded the gamepak into the GamePony. The logo for the developer Gamer Freaks was shown and then the title screen appeared.

'Press Start'

 

The screen read. And a young colt with a Pokeball and a Pokemon standing next to him was there.-

 

-After playing for a while he got out of Rock Tunnel and emerged into Lavender Town. Then the music started.

 

Blank: "Agh! It hurts! Make it stop! Please!"

 

After a moment in pain he managed to get his hoof to the power button and turn it off.

 

Blank: 'What was that? And why did it hurt so bad?' He thought.

 

A few short minutes later, Blank got over the horrible noise, turned the volume on his GamePony off, and powered it back on. Miraculously it had picked up where he had left off, even though he hadn't saved his game. And somehow, even with the volume off, the music still played.

 

Blank: "MAKE IT STOP!"

 

He screamed at the top of his lungs. His mom heard him and ran upstairs to see what was wrong.

 

Mom: "Honey! What's the matter?!

 

Blank: "The noise! Make it stop! It hurts so much!"

 

His mom noticed that the GamePony was on and figured that it was the source of whatever had caused her little colt pain. So she mashed the power button with her hoof and it turned off again.-

 

-Days went by, and those days turned into weeks, and those weeks turned into about two months. Blank had forgotten about the incident completely and was doing just fine. It was on the day of April 25th that Button Mash came over again to hang out and play video games.

 

BM: "Hey, did you ever buy that GamePony I told you about?"

 

Blank: "Uh, yeah. Why do you ask?"

 

BM: "Well since you bought it, do you want to play Pokemon together?"

 

Blank: "No thanks, how about we do something else?"

 

BM: "Why not? Do you not like it?"

 

Blank: "No that's not it..."

 

BM: "Then why not?"

 

Blank: "..."

 

Button looks under Blank's bed and finds the GamePony.

 

BM: "Here we go!"

 

Button turns it on.

 

Blank: "No don't!"

 

But it was too late, Button had already loaded the save file and the music started playing again.

 

Blank: "Agh, no! MAKE IT STOP!"

 

BM: "What's wrong!"

 

Blank: "The noise, MAKE IT STOP! PLEASE!"

 

BM: "Okay! Okay!"

 

Button turns it off.

 

But Blank could still hear it.

 

Blank: "WHY WONT IT STOP! IT HURTS SO MUCH!!!"-

 

-

 

-Blanks parents has tried everything. Every psychiatrist, every spell, and every potion. But to no avail, they could not help their son.-

 

June 13th

 

The never ending noise driving him mad, Blank's parents found him hung from the rafters of his bedroom. He had done it himself to silence the noise inside of his head. And now he was free, but at the cost of his life. And it remains, to this day, no one knows what exactly had happened or how or why. But what they did know is that an innocent life had been lost that day, and that could never be changed.

---Part Two: Investigation---

 

After grieving over their son's death, Blank's parents hired a P.I. to investigate the company that had produced the game, Gamer Freaks.

 

Hidden Details, the P.I. that Blank's parents had hired. Arrived at their house on July 17th, to discuss the details of the case. They heard a knocking at the door and opened it up to see a dark blue unicorn stallion with a mane black as night, wearing a dark brown fedora and trench coat, waiting outside with an oak briefcase at his side.

 

Blank's Dad: "Hidden Details isn't it? Please, come inside."

 

Hidden Details: "Yes, that's my name. Hidden Details Private Investigator, at your service. And I am terribly sorry for your loss."

 

He said as he walked through the sturdy spruce door, hanging his coat and fedora on a hook once he was inside.

 

Blank's Mom: "Thank you so much for taking this case for us. Blank was such a sweet little colt, he didn't deserve to die like that."

 

They all walked into the living room, Blank's parents sitting down on the sofa and Hidden Details on a recliner opposite them across a wooden coffee table.

 

Hidden Details: "So, what I've heard is your son played this game, it somehow drove him mad, and he committed suicide. Am I correct?"

 

Blank's Mom: "Yes, that's actually all we know. But we still have his GamePony with the game inside of it. We haven't touched it since the day he... He..." *sobs*

 

Blank's Dad: "There there honey, it's alright. He's in a better place now."

 

Hidden Details noticed that the family was still grieving, but if they wanted him to solve this, he'd need more information.

 

Hidden Details: "Could you please bring it to me? It's evidence that could help me with the case."

 

Blank's Mom: *sniff* "I'll go get it, you can answer his questions. I-I'm not quite ready to talk about this yet."

 

Hidden Details: "I've been meaning to tell you, this isn't the first time this has happened. There have been other cases of the same thing happening elsewhere in Equestria, quite a few actually. Colts and fillies playing this 'Pokemon' game, and committing suicide after playing for a short time. Nopony knows why, but it appears to have a link to the music in one of the towns in the game."

 

Then Blank's Mom came back down the stairs.

 

Blank's Mom: "Here, I found it under his bed. The game is still inside."

 

Hidden Details took the GamePony, and grabbed his coat and fedora as he walked to the door.

 

Hidden Details: "Thank you for the help, I'll get back to you soon if I have any more questions or if I make any breakthroughs in the case."

 

Blank's Dad: "Thank you again, and good luck!"-

 

-The first place Hidden Details went after that was Gamer Freaks' headquarters in Manehatten. He purchased a ticket to Manehatten at the Ponyville train station and climbed aboard.

 

The ride was rather long, but that didn't bother him. It gave him time to gather his thoughts and start working on getting the answer to the case of the suicides.

 

Hidden Details: (Thought) 'The connection has to be in the game. There's no other possible answer. But how? How does a simple video game drive countless colts and fillies to commit suicide?'-

 

-After finally arriving in Manehatten, Hidden Details made his way to the skyscraper that Gamer Freak called home. Once he got there he was greeted by a cheerful mare at the desk.

 

Desk Clerk: "Hello and welcome to Gamer Freaks, how May I help you?"

 

Hidden Details: "I would like to make an appointment with whoever is in charge here. I'm doing an investigation on the suicides of colts and fillies that have played this company's 'Pokemon' games."

 

The mare seemed to pay no mind to what he had said following his request and said.

 

Desk Clerk: "Lets see, he has an opening at 1:00 PM, does that work for you?"

 

Hidden Details: "Yes, actually that works perfectly. Thank you."

 

Desk Clerk: "Alright then, please be seated and I will call you when he is ready."-

 

After waiting about an hour, Hidden Details was called by the mare from earlier and got I to the elevator as it climbed to the top floor.

 

Upon arriving at the top floor, Hidden Details was greeted by a shorter than average unicorn with a pale green coat of fur, a pale gold mane cropped short at the base of his head, and light blue eyes.

 

 

 

Joy Pad: "Hello mister Details, my name is Joy Pad, and I am the creator of Pokemon Red and Green version. How can I help you?"

 

Hidden Details: "It's nice to meet you, erm,

can I call you Joy?"

 

Joy Pad: "Sure, everypony I know calls me that."

 

Hidden Details: "Alright, let's get to the point. I'm here investigating the suicides of numerous colts and fillies that have played your game. Do you have anything to say about this?"

 

Just for a moment, he might have been seeing things. But Joy Pad's eyes appeared to turn red for a moment. And when he spoke, he seemed a bit agitated.

 

Joy Pad: "No, I have nothing to say about the matter and if that is all you came here for I would like you to leave."

 

Hidden Details was startled by the unicorn's reaction. But respected what he said.

 

Hidden Details: "Alright, I'll leave. Thank you for your time."

 

He then got back into the elevator and descended to the first floor. He waved to the mare at the desk as he left.

 

As he exited the building, he had a strange urge to look up. What he saw startled him. It was Joy Pad, plummeting to his death from the top floor of the building.-

 

---Epilogue---

 

At his home, Hidden Details was analyzing the evidence he had gathered when he found the GamePony Blank's parents had given him.

 

Hidden Details: "Well, since the developer of the game is dead, I guess there's only one way to find out what happened now."

 

He powers on the handheld, the cheery game screen with the Pokemon logo and the title 'Green Version' with a young colt and a Pokemon next to it appeared, along with the text, 'PRESS START'.

 

He pushed the start button and loaded the saved file to find the character in the game standing in a purple shaded town. And then the music started.

 

It hurt his ears like nothing ever before. It was like someone had captured the pure essence of pain and turned it into a sound. Then he saw it, an evil looking shadowy black unicorn with blood red eyes was standing before him, and it had his gun held aloft with it'd dark red magical aura, pointed right at his head.

 

Nightmare: "You know too much, it's time you joined the children and I."

 

BANG!

 

FIN.

Oh, I get it now. Do you think that part went by a bit too fast? 'Cause I've been known to rush parts of my fan-fics before. But anyway, what do you think? I'm always looking for opinions on my writing so I can improve.
