If Hasbro were to Make a Whole New MLP Series, Who would be the Mane Cast?

I was thinking, if Hasbro decided the Mane Six have been done to death and want to make a new cast of mane (main) character, how do you think they'd go about it?  Who would be the new mane characters?

 

I was thinking of several possibilities:

 

1.  The Cutie Mark Crusaders wouldn't make a bad mane cast.  Watching their more recent episodes, they wouldn't make a bad plot of helping other ponies discover themselves.

2.  They introduce a whole new cast in the same pony universe.  Perhaps, they'll include a Flurry Heart all grown up so we can see how she turns out when she's older.

3.  They'll make a completely different pony universe, which could be both rewarding and highly risky.

I actually thought the CMC would replace the Mane6 and take over in Season 2... For some reason I had a feeling that the one-friendship-lesson-per-episode format was already exploited at the end of first season... How silly of me

Hasbro does it every time they introduce a new Pony generation (and sometimes they create two alternative universes within the same Pony Gen!) Personally, I wouldn't mind if they did it again after FiM ends!

Well, I've been around this fandom since I was a little girl, watching gen 2, so I know the whole deal with making a whole new generation.  But I was thinking, because of how well this series turned out, maybe they'll want to play safe and stick to the same universe but with different ponies?

Hm... this sounds like a reasonable thing to do!

Then again, we can't really tell if FiM would still feel so fresh and unique in, like, 10 years time. You know, like how Generation 1 seems so outdated these days. I'm pretty sure that's what will eventually happen to FiM as well. At some point Hasbro will HAVE to come up with something new to attract customers. (Ok, that's something I'm secretly hoping for )

 

But I think you're right, Hasbro playing safe and sticking to the successful universe and milking it for as long as possible is a very likely scenario.
