Equestria is like Heaven in a way. So maybe they're already dead.

I suspect that ponies, dragon and griffons have different views about religion, the afterlife ect... It hasn't specifically stated it but judging by cultural differences they have I would say it is fairly likely that they each have different views about that. The griffons and dragons have a more aggressive and war like culture which means they may have a similar view as the Norse where great warriors would go to Valhallah when they die or may have a view similar to the Greeks where heaven was the exclusive province of the gods while everyone else went to a different part of the underworld. They may also have a view similar to the ancient Sumerians and Babylonians where the afterlife was a dark, desolate place no matter how good or evil you were in life, if you read the Epic of Gligamesh there are multiple references to this and it is partly due to this feat that Gilgamesh seeks immortality.

 

As for the ponies, since we know there are deeply rooted cultural differences between earth ponies, pegasi and unicorns dating back thousands of years it is likely that many beliefs have carried over throughout the generations. The pegasi likely have the closest views to the griffons and dragons, the griffons especially. With earth ponies I could see nature and spirit based beliefs with perhaps some similarity to the Zebras and as for unicorns it seems they may be the most likely to embrace secular, humanistic ideals. Though with intermixing it is also likely that various traditions intermixed and various ponies probably take from various different traditions as they also recognize the various similarities they likely had.

I highly doubt that the show is ever going to touch on things like that.
