Help deciding plus size pony cosplays?

It's probably too late for me to decide on a cosplay for Trot Con. However, I'd like to come up with something for next time.

Just to be clear, I'm sticking to my own body type, not because of self-esteem issues, but because of artistic reasons.

Basically, for a while, I've had difficulty picking a male MLP character to cosplay as, because most of them tend to be thin, muscular or a nationality that I don't want to risk insulting.

So far, the only male, stalky character that comes to mind is Snips, who I REALLY don't want to cosplay as.

Does anyone have any other suggestions? I would prefer a character I can humanize while still being recognizable.

Just spit balling here but how about Coriander Cumin? You know the large set pony from Spice Up Your Life?

Just a suggestion.

Thank you for your reply, but Coriander Cumin, to me, falls under the category of "nationality that I don't want to risk insulting". A fat white guy dressing as an Indian man would likely not blow over well with the public. If there is a way to inoffensively dress as him, I would like to know. Perhaps use the clothing and mustache, but don't color my skin or mimic his accent? I mean the skin thing is a no-brainer, but as far as everything else goes, I'm a bit iffy on it.

After having some more time to think, however, maybe the jelly guy from the Hearts and Hooves Day episode might fit multiple body types, since most of him is covered by a jar of jelly. How would one effectively humanize him, though?

EDIT: Oh wait a minute, there's still a couple of Big Lebowski characters I could be and get away with it...whoops

People cosplay across races all the time.

The difference in acceptability comes from whether you are celebrating the character or making fun of them.

I saw a large white guy cosplay as sallah (Egyptian) from Indiana Jones, and he randomly ran into one of John Rhys-Davies's real life friends at a con.  The friend was ecstatic and took a picture with the guy so he could send it to John!

If you are excited about Coriander Cumin, I'd go for it.

Do you have to go as a pony?  There is always the options of one of the buffalo from the buffalo nation, or the yaks from Yakyakistan.  As far as worrying about offending specific nationalities, I agree with the others.  It's not a big deal.  Cosplay is fantasy and dressing up as a character you like.  There's no lack of respect in the equation.

And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit.-- The Tick

Hello @Sarge Sixteenbit

Taking into account that this topic does not showcase a certain sample of your art, but instead looks for suggestions pertaining to its creation, I believe it would be more suitable for Trixie's Tricks. Therefore, it shall be relocated into aforementioned sub-section.

Have a lovely day.
