seeing that I'm still new and don't have any real friends here just yet, how should I go about connecting with people?

making connections or adding profiles and following people? should I notify them privately and ask permission.

I guess what I'm asking for is how to etiquette.

I must come a cross  as an absolute noob. but the fact of the matter is this is the first message board I've been an active participant in since at least 2000, so  please bear with me

:o  ^_^  :P

don't mind me, I'm just making faces

Etiquette... that word is so familiar.

Lol, I actually don't know if there really is any general rules regarding that. Some people like me won't mind, while others will flip out because they have to unfriend you because... reasons.

Just talk to people, and let them friend you if you're unsure. That's what I do, and I got multiple friends online :)

Hey there @@strongwilled_pegasus!

There is no real single way of getting to know others in a community. My best suggestion to you would be simply to get involved, find threads that take your interest, make replies, speak to others and exchange opinions. I can tell you that the community here is both friendly and welcoming and I'm certain you'll find yourself making connections in no time. Friendship is magic after all. ^_^

Remember to read over the Global Community Rules too and try to familiarize yourself with the various site sections. We have a handy dandy FAQ available for your convenience that should answer most questions. :)

Now, finally, while I do appreciate the reasons behind this thread, I'm afraid that it doesn't quite have the potential of generating much discussion and would be better suited to the likes of a personal blog or status update. Topics within General Discussion are primarily for those relating to a subject which encourages discussion and opinion sharing among members, not so much for more personal matters such as this. As a result, I'm going to have to lock this thread.

If you have any other questions about the forums however; I encourage you to check out Site Questions & Tech Support, or just send one of the staff such as myself a PM. We would be only happy to help you out!
