A group of black clad ponies in suits shifted through the underbrush of a particularly successful forest. They had been given the mission to investigate the flourishing life of the forest, as it was quite suspicious. There were four of each race of pony, the pegasi acting as ranged units with bows, the Earth ponies acting as tanks, armed with hammers and head mauls, and the unicorns acting as stealth units armed with throwing daggers and tranquilizers. The pegasi found themselves bound to the ground, for the canopy was much too thick, but this helped the Unicorns whom flashed through the treetops using teleportation. On their black uniforms, the E.A.A.E.F. insignia of a target around the two sister symbol which could be found on the Equestrian flag. Far from the source of the power of the forest, it would take them a while, but they would eventually find the source.

Amarok liked this place, at the bottom of the lake, webs of frost connecting to all trees around the lake, it was a peaceful forest. He had been there just a few days, but it was such a thriving ecosystem that he had never come across anypony else yet, and didn't need to, because he had been in the lake for almost the entire duration. It was about time he moved on, but he really didn't want to. He shifted on the lake bed, mud kicking up just a tad while he laid down. "Maybe just a little while longer."

Twilight Shadow didn't like the forest, it was too structured, too much order. She retreated back inside the cave where she had gained her mysterious powers. Was she good? Was she evil? She didn't know. All she knew was to upset the balance of nature. She had done so, the plants outside the cave were dead, blackened corpse was all that was left of there beauty. She glanced around the cave before deciding if she should leave its shelter. She decided to stay and rest until nighttime, then she would depart. She wasn't too fond of the sun, she slowly went to the back of the cave, her grey wings neatly folded while her red eyes blazed in the gloom. She closed them and took a nap, when she awoke she would leave the safety of the cave.

It was her home. At first, Summer hadn't even realized that she was the very reason for the thriving of the forest. But she realized her power over nature, how the presence of her magic helped life around her thrive the way it did. It was even said that the plants that grew near the heart of the forest contained some healing essence if one dared venture that far, so said the locals. It was her way of helping ponies help themselves and others, that and the fact that the forest itself was teeming with plant life that could be used medicinally.

Summer Breeze lived peacefully. Sometimes, she even left her place at the heart of the forest to help travelers in need. Never quite letting herself be seen, but making sure they had what they needed to take care of themselves, be it food or water or medicinal herbs. Her magic made it simple when she could simply make the plant she desired sprout at her will.

But that day, she had the sudden, pervasive sense that something was wrong. She couldn't explain it, but her instincts were telling her that something was amiss in the middle of her quiet, serene life. It had her on edge, senses bristling. And as her mind prickled with worry, so did prickly, thorny plants appear in the forest as an unconscious deterrent. Not so many as to choke out the life already abound, but it was a notable shift if one were paying attention to their surroundings.

Copper was on the move.

He was being hunted by a group of Pegasi wearing black hoodies in a different side of the forest.  He didn't like being like this, an alicorn.  But he knew he had to live like it, because that's how he's gonna live the rest of his life.  So far, he was able to out run them because of his speed, but he had absolutely no control over his magic, nor could he fly well.  But he taught himself the basics of flying, so that was a thing.

The pegasi were catching up.  Copper looked back for a split second before dashing to his right, away from what he could make out was a river.  It wouldn't be long before he would get tuckered out, and then he would have to fight the pegasi.  But he kept running, making sure to wear out the chasers just enough for him to escape.

Amarok stood under the pressure of the lake and started for the inlet of the main creak that fed it, walking upstream in a peaceful manor, hoping to find it's origin point. On his path he spotted a cave and kept his senses sharp, who knew the dangers that sought him.

@@Miss Reaper,

As the ponies of the E.A.A.E.F. traveled on, the plant life became more arduous to press on through, one pegasus commented, "You think they'll give us new boots if we ask." Nopony answered, it was Carmine, Carmine talked a lot and had to be ignored. Eventually a unicorn whom had scouted ahead flashed back and whispered, "A cottage, dense magical plant growth." They now knew where to look, and headed in that direction.

Flash had grown to like his new home, up in the clouds above Everfree. Sure, it wasn't as nice as his old one in Ponyville, but it was secret. And that was all that mattered right now.

All of a sudden, his mane stuck up, as if he had been shocked with static electricity.

"I sense a disturbance in the Force." He said lightheartedly, but meant it in all seriousness.

He stepped onto the porch of his cleverly disguised house, feeling the wind ruffle his mane and smooth it out a little.

He sighed, "They're coming, and I doubt that they mean well."

He rushed back inside his house, and started grabbing some essentials, such as a thermos of water, a container of his masterfully made fettuccine alfredo, and a few other things, and threw them all into his saddlebags.

"If they find this place, I'll be ready."

(I hope this is better.)

@@Miss Reaper,

Twilight Shadow, sensed something giving life to this forest. She hated the upset balance, it had to be removed. She left her cave after detecting it, and slowly made her way towards the source, as she brushed past the living plants they died, any that were near began to wilt. She continued, the denser the forest the longer she took to pass though, the more death occurred.

@@Colenso Rivers,

Twilight Shadow caught the voices deeper within the forest. She kept away from them for now. Twilight Shadow didn't want to attract unwanted attention, she took a slight detour going around the sparser undergrowth before heading towards the denser growth from the opposite side of the voices.

@@Miss Reaper

She felt she was going the right way, then she stopped spotting some sort of cottage. She paused for the meantime, causing the plants within several meters of her to slowly wither and die. Where she stayed the atmosphere slowly changed from the quiet tranquil it had been when she had arrived, the birds no longer sung there song, they instead gave out warning calls, the forest also seemed more sinister itself, the darkness seemed to intensify. Twilight Shadow hid for the moment, though if you looked closely at where she was hidden, you would see something was wrong. Be that by the blackened ground, or the trees that slowly became twisted.

Something was wrong.

Very, very wrong.

Stop. Stop it.

The sense of something intruding upon her sanctuary was stronger than ever. Especially when she could feel some of the life in the forest starting to wither away. When she was the source of the forest's thriving life, it almost pained her when death encroached upon it. And almost immediately, nearly on a subconscious level, she tried to compensate for it, fresh blooms rising up where the plants had withered away.

In the denser growth closest to her home, vines sprouted, interweaving among thick layers of foliage in an attempt to create a wall of sorts in order to block entry. She didn't know who, or what, was coming, but she was frightened, and she felt the need to try and protect her home.

Twilight Shadow glanced at the ground where fresh blooms began rising, they slowly wilted and died as they touched her body. Though she kept half of what had sprouted alive, the balance must be maintained. She was curious of what had caused the sudden growth of these plants, her power was Chaos and Death. She could kill all the growth, though that would shift the balance in death's favor.

she glanced back at the Vine wall and stepped closer, she looked at it before walking close to it, she felt her own power clash with another force, opposite of herself. She touched the vine with one hoof and watched as it began to blacken, her power was stronger perhaps, she was about to destroy the vine when she sensed something, she twitched her ears, yes very faint but getting closer. It was those voices she had heard earlier.

She backed away into the shadow and allowed the forest to swallow her form.

@@Miss Reaper@@Ruby Splash,

The trained hunters pressed on until they came across a wall of vines. One of the earth ponies nodded at the unicorns in the canopy, then took a small reg gem from their gear pouch and squeezed it in between two certain vines. Stepping back, one of the Unicorns called out, "Breaching!" Before his horn lit up at the crystal exploded, making a hole in the vines large enough for them to dash through. They were in no position to see the other Alicorn present, but it was hard to see anything in a forest like that. It was obvious taking them on alone was not very smart.

Amarok, heading up the path that the creek provided snapped his head towards the sound of an explosion, birds flying out of the canopy and crying in distress. He really didn't want to, but explosions meant conflict, conflict meant hunters, and for the sake of saving lives he wouldn't just stand by. Fog formed around his body as a frosty suit of armor formed on his body on his way there.

The hunters chasing Copper suddenly stopped, snapping their heads at the sound of the explosion.  "What the?"  One of cadets said.

"Sounds like our own may have found another alicorn.  Let's move in to help."  The captain said.

"What about the alicorn WE'RE after?" another cadet asked.

"I think he'll end up helping the alicorn, which is a perfect opportunity for us to take him down.  Let's go."  They turned around and started to head for the sight.

Unfortunately for them, Copper had slowed down and over heard them.  Almost immediately, he turned and slowly followed them to the direction of the cottage.

Twilight Shadow blinked as the red gem as the unicorn took it and placed it within the vine wall. What is that? she thought to herself, she sat in the shadows waiting for something to happen, she wasn't disappointed. She watched as the patrol of strange ponies blew a rather large hole within the vine wall, it was very well done. She watched interestingly as they now could enter the Cottage which was now undefended apart from whatever was inside. This patrol was probably hoping for a easy capture, but where was the fun in that.

Twilight Shadow's horn glowed dark as she lifted a second pouch from the same earth pony, it was identical to the first pouch that they had got the explosive gem out. She allowed it to fall to the floor with a loud *thud*. The red gem rolled out onto the floor, Twilight Shadow began making it glow, however instead of glowing red before exploding, it began glowing black, before leaking out a large amount of black smoke.

She smiled at the chaos that simple trick had caused.

As they began to surround the cottage, a sudden explosion of black smoke occurred on their positions. "Find cover! Pegasi, take point, Unicorns spread and locate the threat, earth continue siege." All the ponies disappeared behind cover. By the time the smoke cleared, the Earth ponies were charging the cottage, running for the windows and one was in mid ram towards it's door. The pegasi were looking around the the trees as cover, only their aiming eyes and their bow hooves revealed around the trees. Their bows were already drawn and each was looking at a different angle. The unicorns were gone, but rustling could be heard throughout the treetops.

Ephei walked calmly through the forest, even if the air was quite a bit drier than he'd assume it would be and a lot hotter. From his perspective of things it seemingly only happened around him though, everywhere else was fine. He hadn't experienced this while being up in the mountains exception for the heat and dryness, this was a new encounter for him. A briliant and unspoken one. Then the wind started blowing... Just a little faster 'What could have caused this rapid gust of wind?' he thought as he didn't hear anything that could be the originator of it so he explained it as the wind catching up speed. Even though it died down just after, there was no need for him to panic over how things were nearby though. He then continued walking but walked into a tree as he was thinking about that previous gust of wind.

When he got up he looked at the tree and saw a big scorchmark on it, it was as if a fire had started burning but then extinguished right after he fell to the ground from the impact. This was an ordinary scene for him, but what happened afterwards was the surprising thing, the tree gradually restored itself. It was as if it was slowly healing from the burn wound like a pony would with a normal wound. Just a lot faster and seemingly without hindrance. He piled up thoughts about why it could have happened, could it be though? Could another pony be closely related to him in terms of power? Just that they spring life to action rather than sparks, flames and radiating a ton of heat?

Oh what is he thinking, if this was the workings of a pony quite like himself then it could be an ally. How would he know where to go though, would he be able to rationalize and walk the way where nature flourish more, where the healing from his path of heat speeds up? If their ability of control was similiar to his then that would most likely be the cause of things. Now, would he go? Could the earlier gust be a scene of horrible acts upon this alicorn? Just as he thought this he felt a miniscule difference in heat, what could possibly make this happen. Does it correlate to the previous scene, certainly it could. He decided to take the bait and follow the trail of restoration to the source.

walking and touching the trees to scorch them willingly made him feel bad for the nature around him, who would want to harm such innocent trees. But such is his life, a life of harming the things he loved. Just as he probably hurt his family and the village by vanishing that day without returning, but it would be a catastrophe if he did return. He's only happy for them right now though as their life would continue to be as happy as before, even without him being there. Soon enough though he noticed that the trees started to not even get wounded from his heat, he surely must be so close to the center that his magic no longer affects the surrounding nature. What amazing powers, who could know that such beauty could be indestructible by its natural predator. Is that what they call the exception among many, most likely. But now his plan was a total miss. He could no longer find said being, even if it was to be a foe or ally. What a shame, now wasn't the time to stand around however as he started wandering in one direction, certainly the same direction he went before would be the correct one as the source power would most likely go along with nature and form a spherical influence, just as his. But was his prediction way wrong or not one could say it was just by a small shot, if he had luck there would be some sort of guidance to his goal.

As they neared the cottage, the hunters could figure out what was happening.  The pegasi hurried over to the captain of the other group, where this group's captain said, "We came here as quickly as we could, sir.  We were chasing another alicorn near your position before the explosion and we will provide assistance."

Copper hid behind some bushes near the cottage, trying to figure out what was going on.  Whatever happened, it wasn't good.  The black smoke was a clear indication that somepony was using dark magic.  For what reason?  He didn't know.  But he knew he and the one who had done it would meet soon.

The combined squad held a certain level of confidence until they realized one thing. Copper had bumped into Twilight, revealing two more Alicorns other than the one in the cottage. As the Earth ponies charged and jumped for the window, a large thorned vine swatted one away leaving a gaping hole in his side from the massive thorns. A unicorn, targeting the alicorn in the cottage with a tranquilizer was suddenly pulled away, a brief shout before the vitality drained from their body, nothing but the words Please no passing through their mind. Everything was falling apart, but as Copper bumped Twilight from stealth, their most skilled marksman, Crosshair turned his bow and fired at the black one. The blue one would be easier to find and take out in the forest. The arrows were designed to burst into painful shrapnel if they were deflected or destroyed in mid flight. In fact, most of the forces concentrated on the two other than the Earth Ponies. The incoming fire from the pegasi and some of the unicorns was too much to handle, the rest of the unicorns flashing through the canopy to initiate more hit and run tactics.

When things seemed to be turning in their favor again, the earth ponies crashing into the cottage, a lightning bolt stuck the ground next to Crosshair, whom immediately twitched and fell to the ground. Things were getting out of hand, and in moments like that, the wheat was separated from the shaft, one of the Pegasi dashed away in fear before shattering like glass against the ominously approaching frost armored alicorn. They became far less synchronized and doom at this point seemed almost certain.

She then turned towards the Cottage since the arrival of another Alicorn had turned the tide of this battle.

She moved towards the Cottage door, one of the earth ponies had tried to batter it down with a ram, and had nearly done so. She smashed the earth pony's skull against the door killing him instantly, along with causing the door to splinter. Twilight Shadow then stepped inside of the Cottage, where was this opposite power. She had to find it, and eliminate it.

When the dust settled, Flash charged in. Ready to give these punks a run for their money.

"You want some?" He said to the scattered group of soldiers that had come to capture and possibly kill them. "Then come get some!"

He took a moment to look around, scanning the area for enemies. After a few seconds of looking, he found a pegasus archer hiding behind a tree a shot him with a bolt of lightning. Leaving the tree charred and smoldering.

"There's one, how many of them are left?"

I've been gone from this world for what seems like millennia, Looking for nothing short of a miracle, I only ever wanted to come home, Please won't you let me go? When I have nowhere left I can run away, Will you lie to me, tell me I'll be okay? Close my eyes and lay me in my tomb. Then pull the trigger and send me home.

Ephei came into a true warfield it felt like as he had turned around earlier at the sound of fighting getting to his position. It was the hunters against the alicorns whom the hunted... Wasn't this quite the outrageous amount of firepower needed to even defeat the normal pony's in the first place, I mean. Seemingly they're already defeated by the other alicorns and obviously some of them died because of the alicorns who either didn't care about their lives or couldn't control their powers... Well neither could he but thats out of the discussion in his head right now.

Sighing before starting to cast a spell which needed his obvious concentration right now, it was a large scale spell for him. Being undeveloped in his magic area that is, even for an alicorn's immense powers this would be a hard task without any magical knowledge, he only knew how to reproduce the spell but not exactly how it worked or where he could refine it to make it easier to use. He'd require a study to know that... That's something he could hoard on if he wanted, knowledge. Just like coins to him, just like any valuable... Shiny things he knew about.

He closed his eyes as the spell finished, what it created wasn't that unique. Any unicorn could probably pull it off but there is a difference in how they would achieve it and how he would achieve it along with the overall magic consumption and strength of the result. His spell started with heating up the grass on the ground up quickly, being almost instantenous. This is why it was unrefined, by this manner the grass caught a massive fire. But due to the proximity of the healing source they restored themselves faster than the flame could destroy them. From this massive fire an explosion sound was also heard as the air just above it expanded at unimaginable speeds from getting that much heat energy. Although the shockwave wasn't strong, it was more like a gust of warm and dry wind more than anything, though the air did go from the ground upwards towards their faces. That was the reason the shockwave wasn't so great, most of the serious winds went straight upwards leaving behind just some gusts to blow. After this he used his magic to continue the spread in a linear way to seperate ponies from eachother, he also made the fire shrink in size to only cover about a full pony's height roughly, which was plenty higher than what he stood at. The one thing that was good here is that a new fire couldn't catch without his magic because of the properties of the aura that enveloped most of this forest.

Summer didn't know all that was happening outside - she didn't dare look out her window - but she knew that it was true chaos outside her door. Her thorny vines kept thrashing, in desperate hopes she could deter whomever was trying to break in. If someone had gotten hurt, it couldn't be helped; she was acting out of self defense, trying to protect her own life. If not for herself, because her life was this forest's life.

She hardly had the chance to recover before the door was forcefully splintered, the dreadful noise causing the alicorn to shrink back in fright once more. Soon as the intruder had stepped through the now open doorway, smaller vines burst forth from the ground in an attempt to ensnare the other's hooves...

...Only for her vines to shrivel and wither away on contact.

So this was it. The element of death that had been introduced to her sanctuary of life. Another alicorn like herself, filled with plague rather than healing. That was all she could assume, looking at Twilight Shadow, seeing that she too was an alicorn. And the death of plant life she had sensed further out... She felt it here, too. It was the only reasonable conclusion she could come to.

"Y-You...?" She couldn't find the words to form a full question, but the confusion and distress on her face was likely enough to tell it all.

@@Ruby Splash,@, @, @@Miss Reaper, @@rolle,

The rest of the ponies left of the E.A.A.E.F. retreated, with a few ponies barking, "We're outnumbered," "There's six!," and "Retreat, a report of five will be far better than capturing even one!" The rest of the unicorns united all of their power, and the rest of the living blinked away, teleporting far away to safety.

Torn, burnt foliage, and living foliage was scattered everywhere. Amarok stepped into the recent battlefield, even the pony he had killed not putting him as a participant of the battle, for he took no action. He paid no mind to the other Alicorns there and stopped before the cottage. With great focus he reached towards the natural underground water reservoirs and pulled up a massive, thick sheet of water, which froze over as it passed out of the ground. This wall split the cottage in two and separated Twilight from Summer. His tone was like ice. Strong and clear, "What do you think you're doing?" He had seen predators approach prey with killer intent, and seen the same nature in Twilight. He had just as much to fear from her as she did him. His years of fighting the elements and hunters served him the skill to outlive most others. Even though he had only become an Alicorn a year ago, his choice before becoming an Alicorn pushed his limits of survival and quick thinking off the charts. He held no fear of this Alicorn, but could not sense what her element, if she even had one, was.
