My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Pinkie Pie

How did you find MLP Forums?: I dunno, probably a Google search. I joined years ago and never posted, not sure why. In fact, I was surprised I remembered my password.

How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: Believe it or not, I somehow missed out entirely on the pony craze until about halfway through season 2. At the time, I was watching a Minecraft series on YouTube by the Yogscast, and one of their videos was a mod spotlight of the Mine Little Pony mod. I was intrigued that these grown men seemed to have some knowledge of pony lore, so I voluntarily sought the show out on my own. I actually expected to like it, I thought it would be cute and funny. What I didn't expect was that it would actually be GOOD, and I was hooked after the first episode.

However, a lot's changed since then.  I tried to get my roommate into the show, and started with the first episode of the first season, like you're supposed to.  Only this time, the show that originally drew me in with its charm instead made me cringe at every turn.  I don't know if I've grown more cynical and jaded, or if my standards have simply been raised, or if I'm simply more critical of the show now that the "honeymoon" is over.  I haven't been keeping up with it; I think the last episode I saw was somewhere about halfway through season 5.  I think perhaps I'm subconsciously afraid that the new episodes will be terrible and ruin the show I once loved, or worse that the show all along has been... if not bad then at least not as good as I remember it being.  It's kind of weird that I have nostalgia for a show I discovered as an adult, but whatever.  I realize that my fears are probably unfounded, but sometimes cold, hard logic can't win out over nonsensical emotions.

 

ANYWAY, ON THAT UPLIFTING NOTE.

 

I joined the forums years ago, but never posted.  I think I was at a point in my life where I didn't know how to make friends, and thought my best bet was to seek out people who shared a similar interest.  I can't say much has changed in that regard apart from my interests.  Once upon a time I was a pretty obsessive pony fan, now it's just another thing I enjoy, even if I'm not actively watching the show at the moment.  I still find the lore of the setting to be intriguing, and it still inspires me with new ideas.

 

So I occasionally go by the name Greywander on the interwebs.  I'm a highly introverted, shy, analytical, and occasionally silly person.  Not the most social, but I'd still like to have a few friends.  It says above my favorite of the mane 6 is Pinkie Pie, but Fluttershy was originally my favorite.  I initially found Pinkie Pie annoying, but she gradually grew on me until the Smile song, where she overtook everyone's favorite yellow pegasus.  I remember taking some kind of pony personality test at some point, and I maxed out both Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy, with a modest amount of Twilight in there as well.  Take that as you will.

 

I'm an aspiring artist who's been attempting to learn how to draw.  I'm also interested in game development.  Unfortunately, I have a fairly busy life at the moment, and don't seem to have much time for learning the skills I need to pursue my dreams.

 

For some reason, when I returned to the forums today after all this time, I had 10 pages of notifications.  They were all status updates from earlier this year from a friend I didn't add.  That's not really important or anything, I just found it bizarre.  I don't even know who this person is.

 

Anyway, I think this post has gotten long enough, so I'll cut it off here.

Welcome Grey. I haven't got through half of Season 5. I lost interest to continue watching for a reason with the lack of motivation I have. Plus with the whole Twilight vs Tirek going all out in Dragon Ball Z style, I expected that would be a good way to end the show (hoping I can be proven wrong that S5 is much better than S4).

 

However I hope you have a good time on here
