Starlight is like an edgy Twilight Sparkle copy OC

She begin to make me think she's like one of those OCs that is a copy off a canon character but with an edgier past or something.

Can't say I see your comparison at all. She's a former villain trying to reform, but at the same time battling old habits and misunderstand the foundations of friendship. I don't see how that makes her a copy of Twilight.

I dunno, Sunset makes me think "Edgy" OC more, with her fiery looking hair and her leather jacket.

 

 I adore Sunset, so don't take that above statement seriously. Starlight's not much of a Twilight copy though, she's more manipulative and confident than Twilight was in the past, plus more oblivious to her actions. She's going through a similar arc to Twilight right now, but a similar arc does not make a "Copy".

 

 Also, what does "Edgy" even mean anymore? I've seen it so much, it no longer has meaning. Anything even slightly dark or serious in the tiniest bit is now edgy. It's applied way too much.

I agree with all of these statements and couldn't have said them better.

Yeah, a bit. People can like and dislike whatever character they want, nothing wrong with that. But it can get a bit annoying when you've got multiple threads of "This character sucks/Kick them off the show/Should have thrown them in the dungeon/I liked their old mane better."

 

Most of them are just slightly different ways of someone saying "I don't like Starlight".

 

But, hey. It gives me something to respond to, sooo...I've got no right to complain.

We just had an episode about her, therefore we need to grind into the dirt how much we HATES HER!

 

In all seriousness, I can't say that I see how she's a copy-paste remake of Twilight. I see a different character entirely when I look at her, not Twilight with a different hairstyle.

These Starlight episodes just seems like we're running that Twilight train again. It's like Twilight forgot all of her friendship lessons and is relearning them again. It's almost like they made Starlight to make that excuse. Of course to avoid the comments from people (that I'm not a part of) that say characters don't learn from their lessons and that there needs to be progression it seems Starlight was made to act like the unicorn Twilight.

 

First I thought the latest episode was finally going to be a proper Twilight episode than Starlight appeared... and that was that.

Starlight's more like Discord or Trixie than Twilight or Sunset to be honest, reformed character that still has lots of bad habits and has to try really hard to get around them.
