OmegaBeamOfficial 622 November 4, 2016 Share November 4, 2016 I've been wanting to try my hand at making my own OC character for a while now, but every time I try, whether it be my own Ponysona, an alternate version of an existing character, or just someone completely new, I feel like they always turn out crappy and cliche, with very little interesting about them, not to mention a big part of an OC is the actual image of the OC themselves, but I'm not a good artist so all I'm able to provide is a description of what he/she looks like. Does anyone have any tips on how to make a good, unique Pony OC? Please check out this awesome looking My Little Pony fan game being developed by Rikifive. Hazard Time 1,127 November 4, 2016 Share November 4, 2016 To start off with, the best place to start is with the concept. What will be your OC's most prominent quality? What is their special talent? What are their strengths? From there, you can expand and begin to think about what flaws could counteract these strengths. Just keep on brainstorming and revising until you have a pretty solid character idea. From there, I would show the idea to few friends/critics and see if they might have any pointers with places that you could further expand upon. The color palette would be among the last few things I'd work on, and for that, I'd either consult someone who has a good grasp of color theory to come up with one for you, or you can look for color palettes online. 1 Roleplaying for Eight Years and Counting! Snow 7,206 November 5, 2016 Share November 5, 2016 Naming can be done at any stage in the process but I recommend it's a name the works well with your character. Pick a race: earth pony? pegasai? Unicorn? Changeling? Other.. (For the love of celestia don't make it an alicorn DX) Pick a gender: male? female? Pick a body type: Defult show? Tall? Short? Baby? Pick the 2 (ore more) colours you think are best for the hair and body Pick a hair style, this and the colour is what truly makes your character look unique and should resemble the character as best it can. Keep in mind you should have a good idea of who this character is, be it completely made up of a pony version of you, relevance and visual representation is key lazy pone? Give scruffy or lazily styled hair XP that kind of stuff. And to tie it all together, a cutiemark that shows what your characters special talent is XP 1 beans

They call me Loyalty 1,948 November 5, 2016 Share November 5, 2016 (edited) Think of nothing, then create your character instantly. Something simple to stimulate creativity. For me is natural, an urgence even. A moment of inspiration, a rushed scrawl to capture the fleeting thought. Test your imagination. Use contrastant traits. Add flaws. Substract color, go over the top. Play with perception and perspective. Get inspired, use your feelings, find new horizons, cultures, worlds and ideologies. Think a thematic element, then build multiple characters around it. Eveything is possible, the key is to feel your thougths alive.
