idunnomaybe 344 November 20, 2016 Share November 20, 2016 I didn't know you could set up threads about your career. I love answering questions about the AUS Army particularly with people from over seas because you get a lot of interesting questions and really weird ones.So ask away if anyone's interested!
Kaneki 1,073 November 20, 2016 Share November 20, 2016 If you guys can get stationed overseas like how the US military can, what kind of overseas stations does the AUS Army have? Worldwide, or only certain countries? I couldn't think of too much.

Worldwide, or only certain countries? I couldn't think of too much. None i can only think of one which is Rifle Company Butterworth but its owned by the RMAF (Malaysian Airforce) its used for jungle training apart from that we just get hosted by other countries or sister battalions so for every Regiment there will be a "sister" one in the UK or Canada but they are hardly ever used Who makes your weapons? Are they designed there or do you buy them from other countries? What small arms do you use? Lingthow Arms and Thales Australia Australia is unique in that we like to change designs of existing weapons so this can cause a lot of issues Colt for example wont allow us to alter their designs which is why only the SASR use M4s the Austeyr for example looks like a normal AUG but it actually has some minor changes two are a crude fire select button and a heavier barrel since the Australian 5.56 is actually different than the 5.56 NATO it has a slightly heavier grain and more stopping power i forget what the round is called but its something like F1A1 Australian Ball after difficulties with Steyr we decided to part ways and Lingthow is making a fully Australian rifle called the EF88 which is basically an Australian AUG clone oh and i believe the SAAB (yes the car maker) 84m Carl Custav is unaltered too SAAB don't like designs being altered either oh i missed the "do you design them and what do you use" sorry we do alter designs to fix what we feel are faults or what ever as for what we use F88 F89 (you would know it as a SAW) Mag 58 (it sucks running around with it) Carl Custav (gave me nose bleeds) 66m LAW SR-98 HK417 EF88 (fully Australian designed) Arctic Warfare Chaytec intervention Barret M82 M4 M14 EBR Blaser R93 Maximi (7.62 SAW) Browning M2 Browning high powered Javlin (never seen one have no idea who even uses it) that's all i can think of What's the ANZAC-approved shitposting standard? :crackle: enough so that if i was my real self on this site i would be permabanned before i even hit the "post" button Edited November 21, 2016 by idunnomaybe

idunnomaybe 344 December 9, 2016 Author Share December 9, 2016 Any crazy work stories? not really at least none appropriate for here a Machine gun went off by itself once that was scary the guy couldn't cock it and his section commander just told him to put it down then about 3 seconds later it just emptied 100 rounds by its self the problem with most machine guns is it needs to be cocked before the safety can be put on so you want to be really vigilant with them i guess i got two kinda so when i was on an exercise with the JSDF (Japanese Army) they're very poorly trained and use outdated tactics however that's because they have no real experience as a military after WW2 so we're clearing a town going door to door and then we're told to secure a section of the town while the JSDF move up and clear... they just went mental urban fighting is very slow very methodical but not for the Japanese they were just sprinting through buildings screaming shooting the targets but they worked themselves up into such a frenzy they got to where we were and started shooting at us about 8 of our guys notionally (pretend) died before they realized what they were doing second one was i was Enemy for another exercise and we were working with the UK Army... they were just bad... we snuck into their position in daylight they were kind of sleeping and laying around one of them wakes up looks at us for a while (we were wearing red camo indicating enemy) and he just went back to sleep so we stole all their rifles and rations and left we got in a lot of trouble for that and finally was with recruits so i was staffing on a recruit course and during their field phase they are supposed to do a fighting withdrawal at the end but they aren't made aware of this so its about 4am and we begin our assault but we (the fake enemy) were lucky enough to have some tanks to make it seem more dramatic and over whelming any way so about 50 of us are running across an open field shooting at the recruits positions soviet charge style then suddenly the tanks come out of the treeline this this is what happened the recruits just panicked they aren't supposed to do they they just lept out of their pits and ran for it we were like "ah... what do we do sir? do we stop?" and the LT just said "nope its their fuck up not yours they're running away like little bitches chase after them run them down!" any way after chasing them down through this pine forest with lots of ferns we had to re do it afterwards because they had to do a fighting withdrawal as part of their assessment

idunnomaybe 344 December 13, 2016 Author Share December 13, 2016 (edited) ^ THAT is an amazing story! O_O If you could give advice to your younger self what would it be and why? Probably don't let yourself get fat cause you're going to lose that weight which you will but it will be one of the mentally and physically hardest things you do focus more on your studies the guys bullying you ALL end up being druggies so who cares what they say don't tell the teachers about the bullying because its only after the bullies almost kill you and send you to hospital for "dobbing them in" that they will do anything about them Spend more time with Mum i know you can't really comprehend it but she is very sick and she is dying you are her world stop rejecting her because when she goes thinking she died with you hating her is going to eat at you for the rest of your life she's your Mum stop being the typical "eww i don't want to hang out with my mum" teen (we went through her phone she did nothing but talk about me with everyone no one really realized how important i was to her until she was gone) that girl who tells you to discharge from the Army a few days before going to basic WILL CHEAT ON YOU AND LEAVE DON'T LISTEN TO HER! do IT you may like Medicine and it may be a family trade however you will find it un challenging and come to realize its a career dealing with 18 year old males who think hey are preggers because they read it online when you do eventually join the Army don't go full time its not worth it join the Reserves and continue University you still still get to play with machine guns and rocket launchers and go away and play wardog Edited December 13, 2016 by idunnomaybe
