The animatics look so much better

I know, I know, animation differs as production goes on, but the difference between the animatics and final products in the Equestria Girls is striking.

I really like the more over exaggerated features and expressions that the animatics use. It makes the motions seem a lot more human then the stiffness in the movies. I really like the Doraemon-style eyes.

Honestly with that new company (Boulder) being hired by DHX I hope the upcoming Equestria Girls special will utilize ToonBoom with designs closer to the animatics (obviously on a far, far lower level than the upcoming movie).

Just food for thought.

I remember Key Sharkz talking about this before, and I think a lot of it is just going from the animatics  to the final product, with the final trying to look more like the show. The girls also have some differing features and body types(I use that loosely, but you get my point). It's like how the show's animatics has a bit more different looks to the final too, with them having a bit more exaggerated expressions.

I'm not crazy about them trying to look too much like the show. The designs in FIM are not meant to be used on humans.

I actually have to agree with these.

The character designs look a bit more appealing with them having somewhat more detailed and defined bodies, and possibly even a little anime inspired.

I would have liked to see this style in motion in the movies.
