But it seems like no mere coincidence that Princess Sunbutt, and Princess Pollbreaker....I mean, Luna, have qualities all too similar to Cardcaptors characters. Keroberos is guardian of the sun, and has a playful, approachable personality, much like Sunbutt. Yue is guardian of the moon and has a cold, aloof personality, but with a kind heart underneath, much like Luna. But comparisons aren't all I would like to focus on here. There's the all-powerful magician Clow Reed, in Cardcaptors, who created both of these characters in order to “judge” and assist Sakura in her trials, after seeing what the future was like. Much like Starswirl is FiM's most all-powerful magician who also was able to see the future (see Journal of the Two Sisters). As we never hear of the royal sisters parents, could Starswirl- like Clow Reed effecting Yuko- being the most powerful magician, had wished for something, and inadvertently created the royal sisters, and stopped their time, making them unable to move onto death? Could, like Clow Reed- Starswirl have split his powers to a reincarnation, which would be Twilight, in order to learn about friendship? Although they could make for an interesting AU fanfiction where human versions of the FIM characters could take place in a world similar to Cardcaptors and go through an edited version of that series storylines, with some added changes. Many works of fiction have shown light oriented characters as fun and playful while dark oriented characters as aloof and serious. We can't really draw any conclusions as far as Starswirl is concerned because he hasn't been in the series proper. EU materials like the comics and books have a dubious canon status so we have to take their content with a grain of salt. But like I said, it's an interesting idea. I dont really see it. that sun/moon duality it has been used milion of times. but I love Cardcaptor Sakura so much. One of my favourite animes ♥♥♥ it's getting an official sequel anime january 2018 btw! by the same producers, voice actors etc. actually the manga sequel started last year.
