Gamers Make No Sense (New Nintendo 2DS XL)

(New 2DS XL Announced)

Gamers' reaction "Lol, whats the point, just buy a normal New 3DS/ New 3DS XL and just turn off the 3D"

That's like buying extra topping on a pizza for extra price, then taking the toppings off because you just wanted cheese. You would save money by simply not getting the extra toppings in the first place. Same thing for this, if you aren't gonna use the 3D, whats the point of spending an extra $50 on it?

"But I alread own a New 3DS/ New 3DS XL"

Then don't buy a New 2DS XL?

Gamers make no sense.

How was I suppose to know it was a joke? Im not a PC gamer.

Well to be fair, context can be hard online sometimes... but sometimes you have to just kind of look at what someone writes and sometimes if it makes no sense, and does not look serious... it probably isn't.

The one thing that bothers me about the New 2DS is simply that this is the sort of design that the 2DS SHOULD have had to begin with. while the original design wasn't the worst thing ever or anything, getting rid of the folding aspect was a huge downside and that hurt the portability factor by a lot for me. This new design is quite good and I am happy Nintendo is still thinking of this handheld.

It doesn't surprise that there are gamers making some fuss about getting the 3DS instead. The gaming community makes no sense anymore. These are probably the same people eating up Call of Duty WWII so we shouldn't expect much else at this point.

While I do agree that the 2DS is ultimately pointless and it's existence is unessacary, I have to agree with your sentiment. If you dislike the 2DS and/or already have the superior 3DS, then just don't buy the damn 2DS. No one is holding a gun to your head and threatening to blow your brains out if you don't buy one. Just let other consumers buy what they want to buy.

I...don't see how its pointless. Like i said, why spend the extra $50?

Well, yes, if someone doesn't own a 3DS/2DS of any kind, than this easily is the best choice, unless they really want 3D... But there are lot of people out there that already own 3DS's and are thinking of getting this. It's such a cash-grab in that situation. There's no reason to spend money on this system if you already a 3DS.

Given the choice between this new 2DS and a 3DS XL, I'd still choose the 3DS. Based on what I've read with the 2DS, it has lower quality plastics, so it is, and feels cheaper. I also agree with everyone else when saying this should've been what the 2DS was in the first place. I also don't understand the point of this thing anyway since it's just a 3DS without the 3D.

Does the new 2DS still not fold like the original 2DS? Because that's one of the biggest differences between the 2DS and 3DS. The 3DS being able to fit in your pocket and not have the screen exposed all hours of the day is a pretty good reason to get a 3DS instead.

As I've said, I think this should've been the 2DS's original design from the start. That said, people are making too much of a big deal over this, console manufacturers always make late gen revisions, PS3 and 360 come to mind. Not to mention, Nintendo is still supporting the thing

It does fold

That's likely where the misconception is then. If people are saying to "just get a 3DS" then they might not realize that it's not like the original 2DS.

Not big on Nintendo, so I might not know what I'm talking about, but...

I personally think the non-folding 2DS was meant for younger children that you know could easily destroy a $200 handheld console. Children 3-7. Or, at least that's who I assume the main demographic for it was. For everyone else who didn't care about the 3D functionality of the 3DS, it's a way cheaper alternative if you're willing to give up portability. Nothing wrong with that!

As for the 2DS XL, I assume it's just a 2DS that's larger and is clamshell? I think it's still better for smaller children and those who just dislike 3D functionality. It's a step up from the regular ol' 2DS, so the sudden change to clamshell is understandable- you're paying more for the XL version- so why carry an even bigger flat brick around?

Elite gamers will shame anyone who isn't as serious as them into buying top-notch equipment or games you otherwise don't want or need. Not all gamers are silly- but some certainly are!
