Chrysalis and Shadowlocks anscestor?

Will Chryssi's sworn oath of revenge against Starlight lead her to revive Shadowlocke's ancestor?

Who is he, anyway? In the IDW comics, Shadowlocke was set on erasing history to prevent somepony from ever using the knowledge of the past to revive his evil anscestor, but Twilight and the gang come to realize that they never got the pony of the pasts' name. There are clues at the end of the comic, from Rainbow Dash who says he terrorized Equestria 1000 years ago (but what villain didn't?) and the only other piece of info we get is foreshadowing from Twilight who asks what the chances are that this evil ancestor of Shadowlock's will come back in their time, for them to have to fight him? (Oh Twilight, you should know better).

Interestingly enough, we see that what remainder of the past that Shadowlock didn't erase of his ancestor, is written in a book that has stars and swirls on the cover....and a picture on the inside of this villain with tattered wings and a horn. Any idea on who this guy might be, and whether we'll be seeing him in a future episode of FiM? (since the staff have repeatedly stated that this arc of the comic will be tied in with the show)

Pony of Shadows. It is likely the Pony of Shadows. We'll see him later this season. :D

Given how much continuity and callbacks from previous episode we have gotten this season, having the Pony of Shadows (who was already confirmed to be in the season) actually be a character in the flesh is something I find really cool.

Plus with how the season 6 finale ended it is clear that Chrysalis is going to return eventually, and with how many callbacks we have been getting this season so far, having her return in the finale would make a lot of sense, and that's where I assume we would see the pony of shadows.

Really?

Well, Pony of Shadows is returning this season yes. Source

We know that the Shadow Lock arc is somehow connected to Season 7.

The rest is just supposition.

They can pull Dol Guldur with the old ruin and have this particular villain manifest himself in a weakened state. We don't have a name. This can still be Grogar. Our glorious writers are normies but I trust even they have enough awareness not to push changelings into every dark nook and cranny they can find. The fantasy this villain conveys is closer to Nightmare Moon. Power through fear. Why would they push such an essential part of a dream demon's repertoire to a random goat/ram creature if they were going to link someone else with darkness? Darkness without fear is shit. Unless they think teasing starved adventure and lore fans is still cute. Hollow Easter eggs are apparently all we desire.

They might end up doing a "pony of shadows is a being that corrupted luna in the past to turn evil, and is now returning again" kind of thing, since the legends of magic comic had Luna get dragged into a portal by a dark voice wanting her to turn into NMM and kill celestia.

Based on how he wanted to turn Luna rather than just escaping directly, I'm betting the POS (funny how Pony of shadow's has the same Acronym as "Piece of S***" XD) will be a disembodied being that has to seek out and possess another being to exist due to having his corporeal form destroyed in the past.

My money is on starlight being the host for the finale for the POS, curb stomping everyone, and then being talked down in some way because of "friendship"

This leads into the EQG special about starlight being picked up by Sunset, and getting a "hey, don't feel bad, I turned into a demon too and then things turned out alright!" plot with the two of them.

This story has a sufficient amount of suck. You should become a FIM writer :P

they said that the Shadowlock arc would have ties with season 7- not Legends of Magic, so it would either be Shadowlock himself, or his anscestor who teams with Chrysalis. Not Nightmare Moon's past demons coming back
