When Shadow got back there, he listened to the stallion, and by the time he was done, Shadow was furious. He grabbed the pony and said, "You must be insane to ask me that. I'm not going to kill her. The last thing I need is Twilight, the princesses, and the guards after me." He walked out and grabbed a pony, making them become quiet, then he added, "leave her alone, if she doesn't want to answer, you can't make her."

Before Shadow had stepped in, The ponies where chanting "Tell us. Tell us." When he picked up the other pony they all fell silent. Maple moved away from them and  looked at the half-dragon she had been around for a while now. "Thanks... Shadow..." She looked at him noticing his anger. "Is everything alright?"

Once the ponies dispersed, Shadow lied and said, "Yeah, everything's fine." He walked over to the bar and sat down. He couldn't believe what he was asked to do. If it was a random pony, then it wouldn't have a big impact. But he was asked to kill her, with what happened not that long ago, it would shatter his trust with the guards and the princesses, worse than what happened years ago.

She looked at him "Sorry you saw that." She whispered "One of those ponies saw my wings because of how I was sitting and they wanted to know all about me. And Me, Without the armor, I'm not that brave or assertive. It's just when I know equestria needs me I'm just... so much diffrent."

Shadow said as he laid his head down on the bar counter, "It's fine, everyone has a shell of some sorts in some way or another." He sighed and gazed off into space the bottles lining the wall behind the counter.

She could tell Shadow was feeling down. "Lets..." She started "Lets go home." She opened a portal until she realized she could be questioned again "Sorry coming back here was my idea and it seems to have troubled you."

Shadow smiled weakly and said as he picked up his head and got up, "It's fine, I'm just tired of this life, doing things that could land me in jail once I'm caught for it, wondering when it will be too much for me, and who's going to pay me."

Maple flinched... "Well ya know. 'Tia likes you and I put in a good word with Luna too. You could just drop... All of this whatever it is, and join the guard. You don't have to tell anyone what you've done, Shadow just put it all behind you and use it to better yourself... In a way I did."

Shadow thought about it and said as he opened a portal and grabbed the sack and the shell, "I'll give it a shot, being a guard." He scribbled a small note and stuffed it in the bag, then he tossed it in the portal.

"That's good to hear." She then opened a portal into the chaos realm then to canterlot. It was still day time so Celestia was in charge at the moment. "If you ask her she should allow you to join the guard. Just whatever You've done... In the past it stays there Ok?"

Shadow muttered right before walking up to her, "That's if no one tries to dig." He quietly gulped as he walked up, then took a deep breath and said as he bowed, "Princesses Celestia, I would like to be a guard for the princesses."

Maple was exited, He was actually doing this. She went luna and told her "Shadow wishes to join the guard. He has a... Bad past, so he is seeking forgivness by joining the guard O swear on my honor he will be a strong fighter for us but he needs to put the past behind him."

Celestia looked down at Shadow "That is wonderful news I'll inform the instructors of the recruits right away that you will be joining them. Come with me please."

Shadow got up and followed, he opened a portal in his pocket to get the guards for his claws, just in case for sparring. He was grateful that Celestia was allowing him to be part of the guards. It might help him with his attitude a little.

Celestia brought shadow to the same field he had trained some ponies in when He had taken over for Maple Celestia walked over to the pony who was about to begin exersise and told him about Shadow.

"Very well." He said "We haven't started yet so get over here." He waved shadow closer

Luna said to Maple "We promise he will receive forgiveness for whatever he's done when he sleeps again I may find out but we will make sure punishment is avoided."

Shadow leaned his sword against the wall and took his coat off then he stood by the other ones, waiting for it to start. Even though he's a little tired, he can still do the exercises and push him harder as well.

The training it's self was similar to that of Maples except about 30% easier it did however include a segment of one on one combat. The pony who shadow went against had a fire in his eyes. The instructor watched the two closely while they fought so neither of them would get hurt. "Rules: No magic, no foul play, and no sharp objects. Ready..." He waited for a second letting the two prepare. "GO!"

Shadow back up, quickly made a portal in his hoof to get his guards and slipped them on. He was dodging and parrying and when his opponent was slowing down a bit. He went on the attack. He usually used the top and the back of his claws, but occasionally, he would grab the pony's hooves. He grabbed a hoof and flipped the pony over his shoulder and barely kneeled on the pony with a claw at the throat, then he got up and helped the pony up.

Everyones jaw dropped at the save the instructor. "That was well executed, Shadow. Good work." he wrote something down on his clip board. "I personally think you only need to show up tomorrow theres no need for you to train you're strength rivals probably the whole guards anyways."

Shadow nodded and grabbed his jacket and sword, then he sat down and smiled to himself at the idea. If he would attack the princesses, he could take out the entire guard, but he didn't want to throw Equestria into chaos with that.

Maple walked over just as the practice started to end the instructor recognized her "Ahh Captain Maple. It's a pleasure to see you again."

Maple blushed a bit "Good to see you as well." She looked at the pony not exactly remembering who it was. "Oh Treasured" She said remembering the name "how's that armor spell coming along?"

"Not too great..." He said bleakly.

Shadow opened a portal and started picking up and cleaning his house. He tossed the board out the window into the pile of wreckage from his years of training himself. Then he went to the kitchen to clean it out of things that are dangerous.

Maple looked confused "What's wrong?"

The pony Shook his head "I'd rather not talk about it."

"Alright." She sat next to the pony "How'd Shadow do?"

"He did fine. Why?" Treasured asked back.

"No reason." She said. "Well I think I'll be heading home now. See ya!"

Once Shadow was done, he tossed it in the void. then he grilled a slab of meat and swallowed it, then he headed for bed. He opened a portal to pull out the mannequin from where he left it to see that it had claw marks and half its head was missing. He sighed and placed the scabbard on it. He was about to place his coat on it, but he stopped and tossed it into the closet, then he got in bed and went to sleep.

Maple got back after Shadow had gone to sleep, She however had to work he night shift today so she picked up her armor and left again letting him get some rest for the test tomorrow He'd need to be in top physical condition. When she arrived in canterlot all was normal for the shift she worked.

Shadow dreamt that he was at an empty beach, which made him a little uneasy, then he heard hissing. He opened his eyes to see the king of the changeling watching him. He sighed and looked at the clock to see that it was after midnight. Shadow sighed and got up to listen to the changeling. After the changeling was done, it changed its form and flew out the window. Shadow walked over to the window and closed it.
